Subject: How did you first get into Halo?

The only reason that I had it at first was because microsoft made an offer of two free games and a free controller to people who bought the original xbox before they reduced the price only a few months after.

My brother chose Halo as one of the free games as we already had quite a few on the list, I didn't think I'd like it because I was more into WWII shooters than shooting aliens but ever since I first got into the Warthog on the second mission I was hooked.

How did you first get into Halo?

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I got with the x box the week they came out.

I first got into Halo when I played it at a friend's house shortly after it was released. I purchased an Xbox soon after that, and he let me borrow the game for a few days. I've been hooked ever since. =)

I believe it came with my brother's xbox when he bought it, and him and his friends got into it big time. So I began to play, and played campaign with my brother, until we learned how to play online...then we did that all the time. Then, Halo 2 came out, and the rest is history.

My mom ordered me a launch box from an online retailer for my b-day and it came with 3 or 4 games...one of them was Halo. It was weeks before I even opened it and played it because I judged it by it's cover and it looked lame. I played all the other games first.

A classic example of why you should never judge a book, or a game, by it's cover.

It’s all cyclical...

A buddy had Dreamcast and moved up to xbox. He said he hated it and sold me his xbox and went and bought a PS2. He gave me the games he had for free...Halo included!

The first game I bought after I got my xbox (my first console, about 18 months after Halo came out) was actually Evil Dead Fistful of Boomstick, which is hilarious but the graphics and gameplay are just awful. I bought one or two other games (Run Like Hell and something else lame) and was really regretting buying the damn console because the games were just so weak! Then someone helpful at a store asked me if I had ever heard of Halo, and well.... the rest is history. I knew the first time I watched the game intro video that I was in serious addictive trouble, boy was I right about that! Actually playing the game, I did not put the controller down for almost 4 solid hours the first time and the **it eating grin lasted for a looooooooong time, still have it!

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

funny story actually, i was one of the people that thought MS should stay out of the console race. i had no plans of ever getting an xbox unless they came out with a game that made it worth the money. my friend got one for his birthday, and his mother bought him halo along with a few other games. so he brought his console over one day, and after me jeering him because of how huge it was, we hooked it up and fired up halo. i was blown away with the graphics, gameplay, and story. after 4 hours of solid campaign, we played some multiplayer and i was even more blown away. by the end of the day i was hooked.

two days later i bought my xbox, halo, an extra control and a memory card on my way home from school. the rest is history. i still feel it set the precedence for FPS games on a console (as is evident by how many copied things from it) and i still play it from time to time.

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting. I love the Marathon Trilogy.
Halo CE will always be the best game in the Halo franchise. What a perfect game.

I went over to a friends house while they were playing co-op and I was amazed.

A friend of mine got me into when I was deployed overseas in 2004. By the time I got back to the US Halo 2 was out so I bought a used xbox and Halo 2 and have been hooked ever since, its what got me back into gaming.

How did you first get into Halo?
I went over to my friend's house and said to pick up a controller and join in on a 4 player split screen game. I was horrible at first, but after playing Blood Gulch and Hang 'Em High over and over again, I got the hang of it. He convinced me to buy a Xbox and that's when I got into not only Halo, but gaming in general.

Without me, it's just "Aweso".

Played some blood gulch at friend's house, and came to the conclusion that this was the game that I absolutely needed for my birthday.

EXTREME PREJUDICE

First time I saw it was at a Gamestop sometime during November 2001. I ended up playing through the demo level, Halo, for about 4-5 hours. Never even got past the tunnel! Played co-op with an employee for a bit, but he quit when I couldn't drive the 'hog too well.

Ended up getting it for Christmas that year.

Back when video games were still generally unpopular. On the old cnet.com, the most downloaded and the editor's choice download was the Halo PC download. Well, that trial certainly evolved.

Can you believe it?

My brother's friend brought it to our house and I got to play legendary on the level "Halo". I got it a year later in 2002.

I was 7. It was Christmas. My uncle bought us 4 controllers, and Xbox and Halo. (Spoilt right?)

We fired it up 4 player CO-OP with Me, my Dad, my Sister and my Uncle. Ever since I was hooked and bought every other Halo on the day of its release. This will be the same for Halo Wars and Halo 3: Recon.

I'm Watching You

I was 6 at the time. After a long 8 hour car ride to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving, my cousins were still up. "Wow...cool green robots with guns!" 15 minutes later, I was pwning my 21 year old cousin and 14 year old brother.

Four player CO-OP?

As for me, I was never really a gamer when I was young. In fact, I never even heard of an Xbox until after Halo 2 came out. I tried Halo 2 at a friends house, got an Xbox, an extra controller and Halo 2 for my birthday about a month later. Bought Halo: Combat Evolved soon after that. Been playing Halo ever since.

I bought the Xbox when it came out and Halo. The other games didn't look as good, and I was right. As soon I got off the Pillar of Autum, I was amazed and didn't stop playing.
