When I say jet packs, I don't mean you can fly for as long as you want. I mean something like a jump pack, I guess. Sort of like a boost. So, yes or no?

I have thought about this before but I think it very unlikely. When I thought about it though I was thinking about if they had the Pelican in the game and you could jump out from high altitude and use it as a more modern style parachute to slow you down. I was guessing either somehow in the boots or backpack by the Battery.

I'd say NO and YES, Yes only when your fighting in low grav environments like space as Bungie has hinted at, unless youd like to play your whole game of H2 when it comes out, floating in the abyss.

Then dont post if you dont have an opinion.

Jetpacks would be stupid. For one thing, itd make CTF -blam!-. And another thing, people, stop making up stupid ideas for Halo, just becuase you think its cool, your taking away its gameplay factor, it isnt suppose to be flying through the air, its suppose to be running and gunning. Play a different game if you want to fly and stuff. Halo just, in my opinion, isnt that kind of game.

This is by far the worst idea i've ever heard of, a jetpack in Halo just isn't Halo and it would highly suck and ruin the whole game.

I ahve to admit that the thought did cross my mind when i was thinking about what would be in Halo 2. But, having a jetpack would take away the strategy and intensity that Halo gave.

well having jetpacks would be sort of cool but for a different game ,halo just aint that type of game that u can fly around and make crap harder to kill. but if there was like a type of pickup that makes u jump higher it would be almost cool but its just not a good idea

ONLY if there is a zero-gee level, because hey, magnetic boots would make it not very zero-gee, and have you ever tried pulling yourself along a corridor while shooting some elite who's got a plasma sword pointed right at you, comes barreling down from the other end like some giant meat torpedo? I think not, point proven, probabbly gonna need them.

No, this is stupid.

Imagine playing Silent Cartographer with a jetpack. You'd be able to skip 2/3 of the level.

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

I suggest some of you watch the end of this old Halo video.

Yes, but only if they are implemented correctly. There is a certain Half-Life mod known as Natural-Selection (Marines vs. Flood-like aliens, multiplayer only) that has, in my opinion, the best jetpack of any game. It has a very limited fuel supply (roughly 20 seconds of air time), and is effected by the environment is very realistic ways; if you lose enough velocity, all the thrust in the world isn't going to save you from falling into the jaws of the waiting aliens. The best part of this jetpack, though, is that its fuel regenerates quickly when it's not being fired. It regenerates slightly slower than it is used, so skilled players can fly around indefinitely as long as nothing gets in their way. Anyways, I think this would be an awesome addition to Halo 2, especially in the space maps - but only in a few sections on a few levels. I can definitely see this working in multiplayer - air vehicles don't really unbalance gameplay (as evidenced by Halo PC), and the Banshee's already going to be in anyways. So yes, I am very much pro-jetpack, as long as it is implemented properly.

jet packs would be stupid. You're in the middle of a fight then blast off you're 10 meters high coming in for an arial attack with your jet pack. ya real cool.....one of the many reason halo 1 kick so much ass is becuase it had a perfect baance between a realistic feel and a fake feel. example of real would be only being able to carry two weapons at once. and example of fake would be being able to jump over people. eventhought i know he is genetically enhanced, but still. anyways thats my take on the whole thing.
