Damn. God Damn. I just don't know but there is something in Halo that has been missing from Halo 2 and Halo 3. I mean Halo 3 got the overall package right. Halo 2 got the maps right. But Halo 1 got all those and the campaign perfect. I actually forgot how awesome Halo 1 was till I played it again. The "Truth and Reconciliation" mission was pure bliss. Silent Cartographer...Sweet. The Introduction to the flood.....Damn. Everything else...Just as sweet. Assualt on the Control room and Two Betrayals were -blam!- awesome.

And then the Halo 1 maps. Simple..Yet...-blam!- great. They may not have the environmental detail of the Halo 2 and Halo 3 maps(especially the Halo 2 maps) but they are perfect Multiplayer maps.

It these types of things Halo 3 are missing. Halo 3 needs Halo 1's maps. Halo 3: Recon's Campaign(with the shift to ODST) could bring back some of the core gameplay elements from Halo 1.

But more so, could we have the game remade or at least the multiplayer component? Just better graphics and Xbox LIVE Multiplayer. No changes to gameplay? Please, Bungie? Its a better gift back to the community than Halo 3: Recon, which in itself is a great thing, before I offend anyone. But a remake with better graphics and Xbox LIVE will make things great. Maybe on the 10th Anniversary of Halo? Please?

Halo: The best Damned game ever.

Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

Halo 1 does have that extra special something that makes it awsome. I think that in its early production, behing developed as an rts and later a more stelth based game did something. T&R for instance is much more stelth based, as are all the sleeping grunts throughout. Halo ce also got flood combat down. Halo 2's was good because of levels like quarintine zone, which were just pure cayoss with flood vehicles, sentinels, cove, and humans thrown in to a big icy pit. Halo 3 flood combat sucks. Flood SNIPE YOU. That's not flood combat.

My best hope for halo 3 recon is that they make it more stelthy and we go back to delta halo.

Exactly!

It like..I thought Halo 2's campaign was a disappointment. But there were these moments in the game, particularly when playing the Arbiter, that were awesome. Like that Heretic Mission...It was new. I would not have guessed that I would fight Elites as an Elite. And like you said, Quarantine Zone introduced something that we haven't seen since, which was Flood in Vehicles which I feel that Halo 3 could have done better, with the implementation of the Pure forms.

I love Halo 3 and Halo 3 is definitely better than Halo 2, maybe its lacking in the maps(Headlong FTW?)

However, Halo 1 had...something. The Flood was purely scary. It was unexpected, like the Flood-used vehicles and Heretics. Halo 3 was an excellent overall package but it didn't have the "awesomeness" from Halo 1. Halo 3 is more about "I know I'm the badass. Time to kick ass" while Halo 1 makes you experiment and make you believe you are the badass. You see Stealth and the 3-way battles are awesome.

Chill out - dude, you really need to

Bring back Final Run!

yea you're right. Halo 1 enemies just seemed more worthy! the campaign was pretty much perfect.

I played multiplayer against one of my boys though and then you really see how far Halo 3 has come. amazing achievement from Bungie

Halo 3's multiplayer is great. All it needs is Halo 1's and Halo 2's Maps. Headlong and terminal were awesome. That weird map with the weird name but is like a massive Narrows from Halo PC and also Hang Em High...Those were awesome too.

In fact, a Halo 1 Remake with just updated graphics and Xbox LIVE support would be awesome. Get to work Bungie!

Just message me on live.

This has been suggested many times. It's not that I don't want Live, it just won't happen. Halo has become the franchise of kids with short attention spans, almost half of people with Live have not beaten or even tried campaign. I would hate updated graphics and everything else, I like old game's graphics.

The remake idea's been adressed.

As for Halo, it's like Half-Life. Another game you come across that's perfect in every way, and now the company is known for that special something in each of its games. While Bungie may have delivered, that something has been diluted throughout the games.

This is completely true.

A few more things that contributed to its awesomeness:
-fall damage, which greatly influences play flow on most maps
-health bars, which affect playing styles
-weapon effectiveness
-auto-aim, which was virtually inexistent. I found more in the Campaign. For an example, play the level "Halo", and turn in circles under a Spirit while aiming upwards while strafing.

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting. I love the Marathon Trilogy.
Halo CE will always be the best game in the Halo franchise. What a perfect game.

I wish there was at least an Halo Classic matchmaking type for Halo 3...

I just wish they would. Add Online Co-Op to campaign and Online Multiplayer. In fact, how about just re-updating the Xbox Originals Halo to include LIVE.

Is that even possible?

Hopefully one day we will either see a remake or a successor to Halo. I feel Halo is a successor of marathon so who knows what lies in store in the future.

Probably. Halo for the PC has online capabilities, I imagine Bungie if they wanted to could remake CE with Co-Op and online Multiplayer.

But I doubt it will happen. For one thing, I don't think many of the current employees understand how much more awesome it is to have arena style or otherwise very open maps, to not have dozens of useless weapons, or to have a utility weapon like the Pistol.

Another thing is that they simply made too much money of Halo 3 to ever think that a classic like CE could be remade and sell a lot.

Sure they do, it just makes more money to do Halo 3 things. And the Pistol? That is one of the problems I have with it.

More money? How? People would have bought the game regardless; and I think that most people would prefer an arena map to Epitaph, Isolation, or Foundry.

As for the Pistol... I disagree. I think it was one of the things that made Combat Evolved great.

Fac Fortia Et Patere

I agree with you that Halo 1 just is special compared to Halo 2 and Halo 3, though I think I know why. If you've ever seen the Halo 2 Beta/E3 videos, it seemed like it was going to be Halo 1, but just so much better. Somewhere along the line in Halo 2's development (probably when Microsoft rushed Bungie to release it), it kinda fell short, and the game had to be cut down. I've also heard that Halo 2 was going to be the final game in the Halo Series, but because of the game being cut down, Bungie had to make Halo 3.

I don't know if any of that is true, but I think that is the reason Halo 2 and Halo 3 aren't as good (they're all good, in different ways) as Halo 1. Shame though, because Halo 1 was(still is) really good.

No it isn't possible. Now before you go and start flaming me believing that I am just like all the idiots out there that actually like Halo 2, let me explain why.

When Bungie made Halo 1 they didn't include ANY coding for Online playing. There is nothing in the games code that even suggests that it has the capability to play Online.

In order for them to make it have Online capability, they would have to completely remake the game. Also add in the factor that they are now using a different Engine for the physics and you have a company that decides they would much rather make new games instead of rehashing a game which they believe to be inferior to their current game.

Halo 1 was the most epic game I have ever seen, mainly because it was balanced and didn't lack in any specific way.

If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good nite.

Many, many, many people are coming to the same conclusion in this forum. And that realization is,"Wow. What an excellent game."
Can be defeated by an average videogame player, but is difficult. Even if you are a good player and have played through it a couple of times, it can still be tricky.

My friend and I just played through the whole thing starting at 8 in the morning and finishing by 2 in the afternoon so that I could get to football practice. We'd been telling ourselves for years that we could do it, so we finally did it. Co-Op on Heroic. I'd practically memorized all the levels and knew exactly what had to be done and it was still fun.

Stealth can be applied. Strategy, taking out certain targets first. Skill, grenade placement, ability to snipe without huge hitboxes and minimal magnetism.

As for multiplayer, strafing is a big component and advantage to Halo CE.

Thats the thing. They are not Remaking a game that is inferior to Halo 3. They should remake it BECAUSE it is better than Halo 3. I mean No offense Bungie, Halo 3 is great and all but it doesn't have that certain feel to it. The Feel that made Halo Halo to me.

My first game ever was marathon. Marathon reminded me of Halo. Halo 2 and Halo 3? Not so much. Halo is special. And believe me when I say this, the fans want it.

Jason Jones mentioned in the "Work at Bungie" video on the Media Player that they wanted to re-create some of the magic that happened before Halo and Pathways. Why not remaking Halo and see what they did right and what this generation of gamers feel about this.

Bungie has always said that they do what their Fans want. They've been doing that, with Halo 2, halo 3, Recon and all the great games. Also, by being one of the most friendly and Outgoing Developers I have seen. Why not do it again? Do what the fans want again. Cos, I can safely say, I am sure most of your fans would love to see a Remake. And You guys here know it.

They can't now. They use a new physics engine that does not allow for the fun driving and crashing, as well as having destructible vehicles, no health bars, and no fall damage, among other things. It just wouldn't be the same.

To play or not to play....

Yep. Halo CE definately has a charm about it that no other game can quite get. The campaign is awesome. Halo 3 tried to redo the Halo CE feel but it didn't quite get it right. Halo CE is fun, fun, fun...
