Every once in a great while, there comes a movie that is so great, words cannot describe it. This is that movies polar opposite. No words in the english language, or any language for that matter, can express to you just how much I hate Spiderman 2. It is without a doubt one of the worst sequels that I've ever seen, and it makes me angry I paid money to do so.
Since I understand that I'm basically alone with my feelings on this movie, I'll take my precious time and explain. But where shall I begin? There was so much that was wrong.
Well, I'll start with the basic misunderstandings. This is not an action movie. This is a drama, a very poorly written one at that, with a few action sequences. And the action, is done well, and is very entertaining. It's when the characters speak, that my brain begins to hurt, and my ears burn from the blashphemy reaching them. The dialouge in this movie is worse than I ever thought was possible. It's like they took some ideas of people talking regularly, and then stuck a giant hypodermic needle into it, and injected drama. There are maybe three scenes in the entire movie that arent' overly dramatic, and one of them is because he's in a laundromat. Someone is crying in at least 80% of the scenes, another sign of how overly dramatic this movie is.
But what really bugs me, is the script itself. There are just so many things that don't make sense. I'll go over a few of them, but in case you haven't seen the movie yet, you might want to skip this next part.

The basic premise of the movie is to try and capture the idea that Peter Parker is having trouble juggling lifestyles, and isn't sure what to do. This makes sense, as the part of Peter Parker/Spiderman is very deep and complex. Unfortunately, this great idea on paper, was extremely poorly executed. A lot of it stems from the overly dramatic nature of the scenes expressed earlier, so I'll leave that bit out for now. Can anyone explain to me why in the hell Peter doesn't just tell Harry that he didnt' kill his dad? It's something so easy, and it would totally remove the whole conflict between the two. And why is Harry halucinating like his father did, when he was never exposed to the chloroform? Why does Mary Jane not know already that Peter is Spiderman, when it was clearly realized in the first movie? And the big one, how in the hell do the tenticles control Doc. Ock? They have artificial intelligence, that allows them to make choices based on variables and circumstances, not outright think the way a human does. And yet think they do, they take over his body like a virus, and use him as an instrument. And how convienient was it that the only vulnerable part of the whole machine was the chip that blocked said control? Lame.

I hated this movie with a passion. Tobey is a fruit, and a terrible actor. Kirsten Dunst is simply the devil in a human body. And whoever wrote the dialogue is simply an excuse for a writer. I could have written more interesting conversations as a fetus.
Do yourself a favor and save your money, don't go see this movie.
