I think having the energy sword would ruin single player. Sure, it would be cool to school some elites with the sword, but I think it would be overpowered and ruin the game. I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE IN SINGLE PLAYER BECAUSE IT IS A ONE HIT KILL.
Not a regular swipe a targeted swipe is but that takes time and I dont think enemies that have them will be standing around or any enemy at that.
Ya, but the Elites can still use it. And, anyway, you have to get close. If an elite has a covenant carbine, and your 50 feet away from him with an energy sword, by the tim you get to him you'll be fried.
I think it would be wicked cool to own some hunters with the sword.
In halo (1) I had no trouble getting close to the enemies in Easy, Normal, and Heroic. Having the energy sword basically means that if you can dodge a few shots and get close to the enemy you can kill him. It is not that hard to do.[Edited on 7/3/2004 9:55:16 AM]

I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE IN SINGLE PLAYER BECAUSE IT IS A ONE HIT KILL.Only the lunge move is one hit kill, plus the AI is smarter and wont let you get close to them when you have the sword. Espeacially in Legendary they would kill you befor you ever got into range, so it wouldnt ruin the gameplay. (plus I think it will be in single player)
The enemies can dodge but don't you lock on to them or something when you have the energy sword? I thought you did. Anyways the elites jump around in halo 1 but are still easy to melee, it probably won't be much different in halo 2.
Well if you don't want to ruin single player don't pick it up.

So yea the AI is alot diffrent from Halo 1. Plus the energy sword doesnt lock on to the target. You have to line up your target and when the crosshair turns red lunge for the one hit kill.[Edited on 7/3/2004 10:03:39 AM]
Posted by:PezWell if you don't want to ruin single player don't pick it up. But that would be like having cheats in halo 2, you don't want to use them but it would be SO tempting on some level.
They won't mess up something this big. If they do include the sword they will do something to balance it.
Pez, you are probably right. Either the enemies would jump around to much or something....Maybe it still explodes after a certain amount of time. In halo (1) it exploded like one second after it was dropped. Maybe in halo 2 it explodes 5 min after an elite drops it...so you have some time to mess around with it before it detonates.

It only exploded in Halo 1 so you couldnt use it( or attempt to use it and say thats -blam!- when you couldnt use it), I really doubt it will explode in Halo 2.[Edited on 7/3/2004 10:06:10 AM]
I'm saying it would explode in halo 2 so you can't use it for very long...not so that you couldn't use it.
I know what you meant, and I seriously doubt it will do that. But maybe the energy sword would work like a flash light in Halo 2 (when you run out of energy you switch weapon and let it recharge)[Edited on 7/3/2004 10:10:32 AM]
Cool...nice idea!
Well you have to get close to the enemy to even hit them and the will be armed with guns...so it will be hard to even get to them. Plus swords were already in single player and you will rarly ever get one...most likley in halo2[Edited on 7/3/2004 10:47:08 AM]
Bungie would not put the energy sword in single player if it was going to ruin it!!! Think for a second!!! Bungie has had some success at making games in the past!
I think that the energy sword wont ruin the single player game..2 reasons....!!!!1) the AI will be crazy hard.2) I think every weapon has a weakness. Thats all, but remember the E3 2003..when MC encounters like 5 elites with energy sword, that right there wasnt fair..so he MC should be able to use the energy sword.......I THINK the enery sword should be a REWARD to whoever beats the game in legendary..And when u start a new game the ENERGY SWORD would be hidden in all the levels.
