Well Ive been wanting to make a level for Halo CE. I have about 3 -6 hours each day to work on it. So I downloaded the HEK. I asked in another website what next. I was told Sapien. I started Sapien and it was Tutorial level. Then I noticed what do I do now. I didnt understand some of what windows in Sapien. After this I dedcided to read the HEK Tutorial. It said that to use 3D max. But it costs money. After reading thE Halo CE and HEK Topic at the front page here I downloaded Gmax 12. So now what do I do?

PLEASE HELP ME!

You download Chimp as well. Then you follow the tutorial.

4) It will create an object named "ChimpSurface" with 2 colors of faces. Red are Unwalkable surfaces. Green are Walkable surfaces.

Note: Do not link ChimpSurface to the frame object. It will not properly export as all the vertecies are offset from thier original vertecies to make viewing easier.

This confuses me.*sigh* I will try again.

well, first, its pretty simple, you just need to follow those directions exactly. Second, if you dont have your map made 9in g-max with textures) you dont need to worry about using Chimp yet for a while. Ive actually been thinkin about asking Baka to make a quick tutorial on how to use Chimp (like a video) to help people who arent into actually using computers, or are just not good at applying info they recieve (no offense, but it does take a bit of effort to do this stuff)

EDIT- This is the stuff that YOU need to know:

----------------------------------------
GMax Usage Instructions (Jms Exporter)
----------------------------------------

1) Select the 'Listener Window' Option

2) Press the 'Export Halo Map' button

3) When the process is complete you need to run the supplied 'GrabListener.exe' Program. Ensure that you only have one copy of GMax running when you do so.

4) Save the Listener data to your Halo\Data\Levels\Test\YourMapName\Models folder as YourMapName.jms

5) Open YourMapName.jms in your favorite text editor and remove everything before and including the line '***** Begin Jms *****'. Then goto to bottom of the file and delete everything after and including the line '***** End Jms *****'. Save YourMapName.jms

6) You should now be able to compile your map into a scenario using tool

As well, since the program is no longer a floater (automatically pops up) you must do this when you open chimp:

Navigate to the "utilities icon" which is the hammer icon that is on the very right side away from the "create icon". You must then scroll to the bottom where you can select "run script" under the title in greenish block called "MAXScript". You then navigate to where you extracted the chimp.ms file and click open. Nothing will happen, dont worry this is normal. Now you see below the "run script" button? The word Chimp has appeared in the selector. Re-select chimp and VOILA! Chimp will pop up on the right side. Now you have chimp open. (I hope I have made some sense...)
