All I was trying to get across was that the exploit shouldn't have been shown to the public. He never wanted anything bad to happen. But it was because he revealed it to the public and someone took advantage of the exploit.
Which is absolutely true... but, again, has absolutely nothing to do with the scripting side of things, which is what this thread is supposed to be about.
I think that the majority of people commenting on this are getting worked up unnecessarily. What happened is not a good thing, no, it was a very bad thing--I think we can all agree on that. The only reason scripting would be restricted is if one wanted to discourage people from learning about the coding process and being able to discover similar breaks in the future, though; an, again, he didn't learn this from coding, although his coding knowledge might have assisted him. Scripting is only connected to this issue second-hand, and unless it's going to be nuked entirely off the public forums there would be no real stoppage of users learning about this branch of knowledge. Thus, there's absolutely no reason either way to even be discussing any regulatory systems.
