I told you before when you asked about the auto reply button.

No, actually, I waited days. I was very curious and you ignored me.

AJAX is loading a page in the background so what is the difference? If you have requested the page with AJAX, store the page, make your input (e.g. forum post) then submit it back that is a valid post.

Yeah it just clicked. So whilst it is possible, there's almost no point in doing it to try and increase productivity, as you can't fake requests.
i.e. if I want to edit my post, the only way to do that with a script is to AJAX the edit page, make the changes, and post it back. Which is the same amount of HTTP data as doing it the conventional way.

Well if you're counting requests, but from a users perspective if they don't need to leave the page they are on now to make a change it is a great thing. E.g. a quick edit option.

Would you explain that concept again in a less rude way? I don't quite get it. The whole BNETSTATE hidden input etc

Has anyone written one? I might give it a shot.

Daz wrote a quick reply script. I don't know if it still exists, I lost all my scripts when my laptop died so I can't pull up the scripts I had. It worked really well.

I think someone managed to create a quick post script a while back. I can't recall if it worked or not.

Yeah they did. I remember it because I fixed Duardo's OP for him. Check there.

Also, thanks Apoc.

Another update to Shi Options.

Current features
* Reload the topic view every 10 seconds.

* Thread previewing.

* Load new pages of replies when you scroll to the bottom of the page in a thread, or click the 'load next' button.

* Parse image, YouTube, SVG, audio and video URLs to embedded objects.

* Hide topics.

* Show the URL on hover.

* Options bar with quickly accessible options and changeable position.

* Private message notification.

* Options to turn off or limit features.

http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/3145/screenshot3jx.png

http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9011/screenshot6dm.png

New features - version 2.1
+ Added thread previews and the option to make it preview all threads on load, preview separate threads or none.

+ Changed the location of the options bar. It is now fixed and at the bottom of your screen. It can also be hidden.

+ Private message notification. A fixed box that appears when you receive a message, and displays the title of the message, username of the sender and the time and date it was sent.

+ Added an option to disable reply loading when you scroll to the bottom of the window.

New features - version 2.5
+ Bar location is changeable.

+ Topic previews can be expanded to the full thread. Options for what topics to preview.

+ Parse URLs after load. Choose which pages to parse URLs on.

+ Toggle the private message notification on and off.

New features - version 2.6
+ Option to only preview six topics instead of all or no pinned or top.

New features - version 2.7
+ Trimmed the code slightly.

+ Parsed URL elements and elements created with the script within loaded replies or threads now function as they should.

New features - version 2.8
+ Added thread hiding, replaced pinned thread hiding with this.

+ Additional option when expanding threads, instant full topic, or preview like before.

Protip: Parsing URLs can make your browser slow during the time it is parsing, therefore, loading in previews while parsing URLs is enabled for topic-view, can make your browser a bit slow temporarily.

Firefox: Shi_options.user.js
Chrome: Shi_options.crx
Might work with other browsers (Opera, Safari) but I haven't tested the script with them.

Also, Chrome users who have version 2.6 or earlier installed have to delete the old script and install the latest one. Lost the PEM because of a failed data backup.

Edit: updated to version 2.8.

Links broke. :(

I know, I know. I'll convert the script to Chrome if I can some other day. Stay on Chrome; it's worth it.

Worth what? Firefox is better in literally every way. Way more functions, faster, more customizable, etc.

I have both and have used both, and I see absolutely not one good reason why I'd use Chrome over Firefox.

No no no, if this was 2009 or something, Firefox would be faster. The current way things are, even Internet Explorer is better than Firefox. It's a shame because I really loved FF but they just couldn't get their -blam!- straight, silly release cycles, slow load-up and slow web browsing, flash issues. The thing that was awesome about FF was the customizability of it, but now chrome has most of those add-ons and extensions so it's pretty much replaced, if Google stop funding them Mozilla would be over.

RIP FF.

What awful version of Firefox do you have? Firefox -4?

It is so much faster then Internet Explorer it's like comparing a NASCAR to a Model T. And on my computer, it's also much faster then Chrome, and less annoying too.

As an ex-Firefox user for more than four years, I'm going to have to disagree.

I recently made the switch from Firefox (oh bb) to Chrome after being annoyed by the frustrations Firefox causes: flash errors, slow loading, atrocious design, etc. With Chrome everything is just so perfect. I don't have to worry about having to consistently decline updates from Mozilla, nor do I have to continue to be fed up with it.

I love Firefox, but Chrome is just 3-steps ahead of it all.

  • 07.13.2012 5:24 AM PDT

Yeah Firefox is annoying and buggy as hell IMO, and FF fanboys are pretty annoying but even worse is that everyone always blindly insists "CHROEM IS BEST BRWOSER 4 RELS" and then can't elaborate on a single reason why. Chrome fanboys < FF fanboys, but Chrome > FF.

That's because there are no reasons why it's better. Fire Fox has every feature that Chrome does, plus way more. The level of customization is far greater as well. Chrome hasn't got anything on Fire Fox.

Why are you still talking about your opinion as if they're fact? No one gives a -blam!- what browser you are using.

Statistically Chrome is better than FF - What are benchmarks?

Implementation wise Chrome is better than FF since FF hardly supports most CSS3 & HTML5 features. There is loads of stupid moz exceptions because Mozilla are being little babies. Look at MDN.

Customisation wise Chrome is ontop because it has userscripts built in to the browser and ofcourse full fledged addons and native applications like XUL-runner.

Opinion wise FF better because of stockholm syndrome.

The good thing about there being multiple browser vendors is that we can pick and use what ever browser we like. So you use what you like, and I'll use what I like.
