Fight your way out; only scrubs and mashers jump out of the corner

Posted by: Iggyhopper
The first thing that causes me headaches when I want to start a script is figuring out how to get various elements and info from the page. Every time I start a script, I have to look into the code from the site, copy IDs and remember the hierarchy of the elements if I need to maneuver around the DOM.

So I took this pain and made it a little easier for everyone. Say hello to the Bungie Extension API.

http://github.com/Iggyhopper/Bungie-Extension-API

This will also be very useful to devs when the site update comes because I can update the script and there will be no slowdown in momentum.

I am adding more things to the script often, probably in chunks. I should probably version it. So, this is version 1!

Fantastic! Now I don't have to roll my own!

Apparently, all my bungie.net related GM scripts don't work anymore.
Any help?
They worked yesterday.
I've tried reinstalling Greasemoneky but it didn't help.
Here's the scripts I'm using.

All of mine are working fine, thebig100.

Are you using a different URL? Some scripters only have it to where www.bungie.net works and not admin.bungie.net.

Is your GreaseMonkey on?

Did you update Firefox recently?

My GreaseMonkey is on, hence some scripts sucha s 4chanX are working, but only to find out only the ones on Bungie.net are working.
I'm using the default bungie.net URL(http://www.bungie.net/) not the other ones.
Well, I'll try re-downloading the scripts and such, thanks for your help though.
Edit: It helped by re-downloading it.
Thank you, again.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

Daz's timestamp converter script doesn't seem to be compatible with Firefox 16.

It's immeasurably bothersome, I grew to depend on that script heavily :'(

Fight your way out; only scrubs and mashers jump out of the corner

Hi all!

I wrote a Chrome extension port of Bungie Mobile, but with scaffolding for extra hooks ( like the ability to tweet or retweet news items ).

I ported it pretty closely, using some of the assets from Bungie.net. I'd like to release it for use, but don't want to do so without Bungie's approval, or without at least meeting any guidelines Bungie stipulates.

What would potential next steps be?

Timestamp Converter For Firefox 1.2

Now works with Firefox 15+. Should start working on the second page load.

As long as you don't charge people for it, I would think it would be OK.

Note that I am not a Bungie employee and that is only an assumption.

Thanks Dazarobbo! I'll make sure the "not affiliated" text is clear and tight, then release it.

If you guys are interested in checking it out, I've published BNet-Companion to the Chrome Web Store ( free of charge ).

It's not 100% complete yet; there are a few features I want to add, like the ability to retweet or reply to Bungie tweets.

Feel free to PM me to report bugs, request features, or if I need to take it off the web store.

You can check it out below; if it's well received I'll port it to Firefox as well.

Cheers!

Timestamp Converter for Firefox v1.4

Changes:
- Your timezone and its offset from UTC is given
- Bungie's timezone and offset from UTC is given
- The number of hours (and minutes where appropriate) difference from Bungie's timezone and whether this is ahead or behind Bungie's timezone is given
- Information on which timezone Bungie currently observes and when the next transition (eg. daylight to standard time or vice-versa) is given

Rolling over the clock in the top left corner of the page (replaces the Bungie Network links) will show you this information.

BNet-Companion for Chrome v 0.8.7

Changes:

- Adjusted the rendering system to only re-render the news feed when open and new items are detected

- Now retrieving Bungie's Twitter timeline data as JSON, rather than RSS, due to up-coming Twitter API changes

Post Copier v1.1

NOTE: You must be using Scriptish for this script to function. Installing it through Greasemonkey will not work.

What it does:
When you're on a createpost.aspx page (the one where you type your post up), right-clicking the post you're replying to gives you a menu with some options.

Copy Post text
- Copies the text you see on the screen without any BBCode from the post.

Copy Post BBCode
- Copies the BBCode version of the post.

Copy Selected Text
- When you highlight text in a post you can choose this option to copy your selection.

Smart BBCode Copy
- Highlighting text in a post copies the BBCode for the text that you highlight. For instance, if you see a post like:Hello, this is some text.Selecting part of either "this" or "text" and selecting Smart BBCode Copy will copy "this" or "text", respectively. Highlighting over multiple lines/elements of text will perform the same function.

This is bold with some italics within it.

This is bold quote
This is a nested quote which is underlinedand some trailing text.

All options copy text to your clipboard (which is why you can't use Greasemonkey - it doesn't support this functionality) wrapped in [quote]Posted by: author[/quote] BBCode tags.

Since the script blocks the default right-click menu from appearing, interacting with a hyperlink is an exception will still bring it up.

This is still a work in progress, so it may be buggy. Please let me know if there are any problems.

Edit: made a quick fix. New version is 1.1.

Will someone please explain to me how I can install this script?
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/109805

When I click on the install button it takes me here:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/109805.user.js

Never mind. I guess the script had crashed on my computer. Got it working again.

I didn't know if this was somehow tied to Bungie.me. I thought these two were made by the same person, and Bungie.me is no longer being updated.

Some of these scripts won't work with Chrome, but for those that do, Chrome doesn't allow scripts to be installed automatically anymore unless its from the store.

3 steps:

1. Download the script.
2. Open Tools->Extensions.
3. Drag the script from the bottom to the middle of the window.

A couple of scripts are saying 'server not found' for me now, ever since I got a new laptop.

These include the group advertisement script that replaces the ads at the side with pictures advertising popular Bungie.net groups, and the attach file script, which allows you to upload files straight from the posting page.

Anybody else having this issue with those scripts?
