well wait, i dont think the captin was actually "plugged" in was he?

Well, the tendrils of the monstrosity were connected too the ships control center.
Also, just as added info, the monitor said "The flood are already hard at work repairing your vessel, the floods parasitic nature undermines its intelligence" or something very close to that.

the litle metal blighter says "their parasitic nature belies their intelligence". thanks to 54 for remindin me of "How great it is to have a record of all our lost time", exactly what he said has been buggin me for ages but i couldn't be bothered goin an playin yet to find out.

perhaps we should start a new thread about the captain was he or wasn't he plugged in. why plug him in to a cov ship instead of the autumn if they were gonna use that as well. crafty supersmart parasites they got me confused

The book " The Flood" they are tryin' to repair the covie ship to find earth usein' the captin. My guss is the flood would follow the repaired covie ship w/ the pilliar to earth, so they would have more of them to take control easier. -GK04

This is basicly my thorey, it's mostly the same as redleader's. The forerunners crerated life in the universe, humans and covies alike. The covies advanced faster and discovered the existance of their creators. Because of this the forerunners decided to come to earth. This happened during Egyptian times. Hence the Egyptian gods of sun and moon. with the help of the forerunners the Egyptians built the pyiminds so percise and alined with stars/halos, so one day the humans could be lead to "the immortle place' or the forerunner home world. but the covies want that for themselves, so they invade earth, not glass it like Reach, to find forerunner artifacts and the direction of the forerunner homeworld. but then good ol' MC comes in and blows the covie's plan to hell. Like i said this is my theory on the storyline of Halo 2. This is based on alot of things said by shifty, readleader, cool_cow, and duelweildingfreak. -GK04

Ok here is an idea...

The ship in the teaser trailer that the MC jumps out of is obviously NOT the Longsword fighter that he leaves Halo in.

Cortana: "Halo...it's finished..."
MC: "No, I think we're just getting started..."

My idea is that the MC and Cortana go and fight the covanant at other 'Halos' or other Forerunner facilities before arriving at Earth and meeting up with Marine/ODST forces. THAT is when he jumps out of the ship and falls to the covie cruiser!

Well...thats my thoughts of right now, and comments are welcome! :D

thats wat i sed in my big little thing back on page 15 or 16
but i doubt that they went to other halo's, that would equala whole other game...

Alright this has to be the absolute most comprehensive theory i've ever seen. Congrats guys who came up with it (redleader, coolcow and dualweilderfreak) I definitly think that the covies would've glassed if they wanted us dead. I've got a kindof a back story for the theory. The forerunners were superior beings that wanted to create life, so they created several races but always failed at perfection. then, they created the flood to wipe out the failures, but the flood grew out of control and the forerunners locked them up. then, they created life on the covenant homeworld that split into several sentient races, prophets, elites, jackals, etc. then, they create life here on earth. If you think about it, the chances of 2 4 legged bipedal speicies with optical sensors and mouths on thier heads evolving on 2 diff worlds is slim to none, so we have to be related. they create many other races all over the galaxy, then Millions of years later, they come back and visit each world and they contact the most advanced cultures on each world. they contact the egyptians here, and give them technology to create the pyramids and all the other neat stuff the egyptians came up with, and the egyptians worship them as thier gods. then they go to the more advanced prophet race on planet c and advance them and the prophets worship and copy thier technology. The prophets use this tech to dominate all the other races on thier planet and unify them as the covenant. They learn of the other races in this galaxy and especially of an awesome race on planet earth, but they dont' know where we are. the FR's leave, and then the covies make thier mission to dominate the galaxy and elimitante inferior races. they go from planet to planet destorying and glassing the planets. then when we first encounter the covies, the prophets realize that we are the race that they heard of, and make it thier mission to elimitate us and find something valuable (i don't knwo what) in the pyramids. At the end of Halo 1, we see 343 guilty spark fflying away from Halo. He gets captured by a covie cruiser and is interogatted. He has all of that data from the Autumn, and a grudge against MC for going against the rules. He tells the covies the location of earth and plans to use them to activate another halo. The covies want to find the valuable things in the pyramids, maybe secrets of the forerunners given to earth or somthin, so they land troops. alright that was long and has a lot of stuff from other people's theories, so i understand if it goes unread. But for those of you who did read it, PLEASE add to it and enhance it because the best part about theorys is that tthey build over time. thank you thread starters for some serious brain candy,

Note: Post contains minor First Strike spoilers
---
I personally think that it might be something in the old Greek cities. I got that idea from something I read in First Strike, Fred (one of the Spartans who survived Reach) was looking at some of the Forerunner runes and noted that they reminded him Greek symbols. While this comparison might be entirely incorrect, it brings up a few possibilities.

Under this theory it would be rather difficult to explain why the Covenant chose to make Africa their central invasion point. Perhaps there is something in the pyramids and in Greece or maybe they choose that for strategic reasons.

The end of First Strike had the Prophet of Truth (the head prophet) making a note about how a "Great Journey" is about to begin. And a little before that he said, "...one more relic from the Great Ones, as precious as they are, will soon make no difference to us." This may indicate that Forerunner technology may not be what the Covenant is after, but merely a means of achieving another goal which they percieve to be greater.

hey just wondering.... wat the hell did all u guys do before u started using these forums!?!?!

anyway, i was just thinking, y do the forerunners have to be like gods or creators of the humans and covies, or relatives or something??? y couldnt there just be like 3 major civizations in the galaxy/universe or wateva, but the forerunners came first and were therefore heaps advanced by the time the humans etc were making fire etc... but that is a great idea of the forerunners sacrificing themselves to try to kill the flood!!

but think about it... u guys r saying that the covenant worship the forerunners cuz they r looking 4 artifacts etc, ok just take the egyptians for example, we r facinated by them and artifacts from their time are valuble to us these days as well, but we dont worship them! and if anyone says something like..."oh but they tralvel around the galaxy looking for these artifacts"... dont u think that if scientists found something like on mars or the moon and technology was better that we would send 'spaceships' to get 'em???

well i still think that the covenant are just out to take over the universe and we r in their way, and for the 'glassing' argument if they destroyed every planet they came accross, and earth is the 'prettiest' by far, they wouldnt have much of a universe to rule would they!

great forum thingy this is ;)

Sorry to do this (I really like the theory) but the forerunners being wiped out by the flood sounds a little starcraftish to me... (the supreme race making the protoss and the zerg, the zerg wipe them out, etc... i understand what i'm trying to say... i think...) ( :

on another note (and again, i appologize if this is off topic), in order to use technology (fly ships, use weapons, etc.), the flood need to infect another organism that has the ability to do that (the infection types and the little blobs couldn't really handle space flight or weapons)...

and just because our planet's not glassed yet doesn't mean that the covenant doesn't plan to. remember in the books, the first time the spartans come across the weird floating octopus thing, the planet hadn't been glassed yet, but certain parts of it had. The covenant obviously want something, but that doesn't mean they won't glass earth when they get what they want.

also, a question about the covenant... did they all ocme from the same planet (and just have a caste system) or did the prophets and elites/brutes/whoever else get together, then go take over the grunts, and the jackels, etc. to form their army?

oh crap, i forgot the main thing i was gonna say, i reference to the quote..... that is genius suggesting that 343 led the covenant back to earth to try and get them to use another halo, or perhaps wateva thing earth has that is good/bad like the halo's

Send me out with a bang...

ok well wow theres no way I could read all of this... lol SO I'm just gonna state what seems like what might happen to me if someone else has already said it sorry :(. I think the forunners are simply a race of such advanced power that the same thing that happens to all races with to much power.... the end up destroying themselves. We know halo is some kind of weapon that kills on giant almost unstoppable level... But just think if that was one weapon of many the forrunners use? It was designed to kill perhaps other forrunners? A giant civil war if you will, of the biggest and best of the galaxy. But after realizing what they had made... It was to late... hell it could be forrunners vs machines at this point. Thus they banded together one last time to try and stop what they have created in what would seem to be a failed attemp. I'm also guessing that we have all read the books. So I think the covenant purely wishes for power. As for what each race wants in the covenant its all diffrent I'd say sounds like shakey alliances. Anyways these jewles.. or gem shiney rocks with maps in them whatever :). Are perhaps clues left behind by the forrunners to who knows what a secret weapon... their last hiding place... I dunno. But I do feel that the covenant and human may not be so connected to the forruners... lol I'm gonna be so wrong I know it hehe. Anyways thats just some thoughts I had. Thinking about what might be if fun as hell tho :)

nicely said. id like to build on somethign mentioned in the theory, why the covenant want us out. well according to them our destruction is the will of the gods. now look at christianity, notice 1 of the comandments or something is do not worship flase gods or something like that. and all other religions back then when christianity was dominant was blasphemy and wrong and jews etc where murdered. Now maybe its the same for the covenant, they beleive the only gods are thier gods, and since we beleive in some other god or whatever, they see us as worshipping false idols etc

I think that we need collect what we know for sure in a post and build off of that. here's some starter facts.
1) The covenant have stated religious reasons for destroying us.
2) The covenant are landing ground forces in Eastern Africa, which is unusual for thier wars.
3) The forerunners built Halo and somehow contained the Flood
4) 343 Guilty Spark escaped Halo and the Flood is coming back

Any other proven or massivley likley facts can be added but lets unify to a few points and build a strong theory from there instead of branching into a million paths.

On an unrelated question, does anyone think that the Master Chief is somehow like a messiah or similar to Neo in the Matrix movies; he is destined to save us? I mean he's powerful just because he's a Spartan but don't you think that maybe he was destined to be by a higher power in the Halo universe. (maybe forerunners or maybe some higher power that created them??) I know it might be stupid but i just wanted to see what ya'll would say.

Ok Barrald, for one, covenant landing ground forces is never unusual. Two all of you who think the coveneant just come in and glass us, that has never happened. They always land forces, beat the hell out of us, then glass or destroy whatever.
