Hmm....a lot of talk about people grouping together to buy the 20 dollar update and share it. A way for kids to get their hands on it. I would think twice because:

I beleive that the buying and sharing will work only if you dont connect to live.
When you put in the update disk you will have to enter the code that came with it.

Once you connect to live this is all verified online. You will all loose your live account completely as soon as microsoft sees 1 code associated with more than 1 MAC address.

Remember this is MICROSOFT you are dealing with, and every XBOX (and every device on the internet) has an individual MAC address.

Try this at your own RISK. I think you will find that in the long run it will be cheaper to spend the 20, rather than split it into say 5 dollars then have to pay another 50 for a new live account.

Go on then kyleb, prove it aint comin gout on PC, i'd like you to tell me! Do you seriously think they ain't gonna bring Halo 2 on PC when they did it with the first one?

A while back I thought somebody had an article stating that they were not going to make Halo 2 for the PC and it was going to be an xbox exclusive. I don't remember the reasoning of why but I think it might have been something like the amount of sales on the PC vs xbox vs the development cost on the pc with the lack of sales. If I were you I would look for this article, ign might have something about it too. Check there.

So I don't understand. People who don't buy the disk or download can't play the new levels at all? Does this mean you cannot play a custom game on live with someone who did buy the new levels? And if you can play them with someone who did buy them you still don't get the maps right? Also, what's the pointb (besides special features) of buying the $20.00 game disk over the downloads? The downloads must be less money so what's the point?

I

You should be patient retard. There is still a whole month. You don't think there will be commercials or screenshots somewhere. And You won't have to pay for the maps. Read the f ucking article idiot. You will only have to pay if you get them before the end of summer, after that they are free. I think this is a smart idea and I hate bungie. Keep your pants on and stop -blam!-ing. -blam!-!

I am for free speech and all but come on having to swear this much really makes you sound very ignorrant. You should be able to get your thought across without "F" this and that every 3rd word and the fact that bungie is allowing your post to stay is a real disappointment to me not the fact that I have to wait till late summer to get a bunch of maps.

I like Halo 2 but I am sorry to have to wait till the end of April to stop the standby problem is just annoying. Thank god for SPLINTER CELL: CT and DOOM 3!! I will probably pay and we all know that BUNGIE was counting on that. And please don't expect us to feel sorry for you BUNGE.. OHHH BOOO HOOO it costs money to make maps. The fact that you would charge to D/L them is a disgrace. The bandwith is already there don't give us this crap about how it costs more during a D/L. Its not like we are D/L'ing a 100MB service pack from MS. GHOST RECON 1 +2 - RAINBOW SIX - SPLINTER CELL - MECHASSAULT 1 + 2 Heck NINJA GAIDEN the KING OF CONTENT UPDATES with the beautiful HURRICAN PACKS did it all for free and that is just naming some of the more popular games. Hang your head in shame!!

WOW all of the maps are copied from campaign. It took them THAT LONG TO COPY AND PASTE. (And no Hang em' High...) Very poor.

Idiot didnt you even read the update!!! They made every map from SCRRATCH! Every model, texture, rock, piece of dust, and wall has been entirely created just for these maps. And I knew that once people found out when they were coming out the -blam!-ing would go from when to, thats to farrrr. -blam!- whiners.

They said we could use it on a different box if we bought a new one right, well then that is a separate mac address. As far as I know MS doesn't have anything in place on the xbox to prevent installing the update on separate boxes because it would have to be hardcoded into every disc and the disc would have to be used everytime you wanted to play with the updates. I think installing it on the HD does not allow this and further more I also think part of the increased cost of the disk is to offset the fact that people are going to share.

Oh, and my bad for spelling and grammar errors, I am at work.

My router has its own MAC address. 2nd the CD is mainly for people without an XBL account. That being the case, why would it have to verify anything online?

We do not have to pay for the downloads if we do not want to, it will all be available for free.

The first two maps are free and will be integrated into playlists right away. The other maps will be availalbe for purchase, but will not be in the playlists until later in the year, so there really is no reason to buy them, unless you want them for LAN play.

Let me be clear, ALL THE NEW MAPS ARE FREE, the only time you would have to pay, is if you want the maps early before they are integrated into the playlists.

  • 03.25.2005 12:16 PM PDT

I have 5 Xboxes. Am I going to have to pay for the 2 maps that aren't free for all 5 xboxes before the retail disk comes out?

The update said there would be a special playlist added temporarily for the other two maps for people who payed and wanted to play them in matchmaking.

Yeah, but really and truly its out of order to not port it to PC, 30 million+ peoplw are waiting for it on PC, and unbeleivable amounts of people have bought new computers to pe prepared to have the arrival of Halo 2. If Halo 2 aint coming out PC, thats out of order, if you knew the story, the legendary bungie games are truly meant for PC.

OMG I am so freaking psyched for this release. I think all the people that complain about this should not be able to get the update and be banned from Halo 2 FOREVER becasue this is the best thing to ever happen to any game (9 new maps out of 12 old maps and a autoupdate to fix all the cheaters) what I am most excited to see is how peoples strategies will be like after you can't throw the flag through walls anymore!
THANK YOU SO MUCH BUNGIE (Hey i will pay you $100 bucks to get maps now huh!)

I think paying for these maps is stupid no other game i've ever played on Xbox Live i've had to pay for and why should we pay what has the game done for us, probly the mosted glitched and fustrating game ever created were people can standy by and glitch and there isn''t really much you ca do about it because now i have stopped using the cheat forum because nothing happens.

Also how are we meant to know the maps are good we should atleast get screenshots or something otherwise were going to be taking a chance buying them.

I'm annoyed at this because you keep us waiting for so long and then make us pay for it.

It is ridiculous that Bungie is forcing people to pay for these updates when the original maps are FULL of glitches and cheats. If the original maps were not full of glitches I probably wouldn't purchase this update. If these new maps have glitches in them I will be furious. Who is to say they won't? Ridiculous.

Wtf are you on about i'm not getting maps at the end thats like getting an Xbox now what i'm saying is that the price is stupid because we shouldn't have to pay for waiting this long.
And if the maps aint done how the -blam!- they get a birdeye shot of the hole map it must be almost done.

This is the most retarded -blam!- out of Bungie in a while...

Come on, they're staggering the maps for some supposedly good reasons, yet holding all the fixes to be released at once?

They're putting all the maps out over time because they want the name out there for as long as possible, and to give people reasons to buy the content, figuring the next batch won't be for a while. They're still in it for the money, the greedy bastards. Especially since...

The patches won't be coming out until all of them are done. Well, why? If you have everything fixed but one thing, why not put everything else out? As soon as they fixed one problem, it should have been distributed. This is completely cantradictive, and really stupid. If you think I'm gonna pay a map like Warlock, you're wrong. They better keep those small crap-maps out of the paid stuff. I'll get the free ones of course, since we deserve them after the -blam!- they originally put out. But I won't pay a dime for this corporate bull.
