Been playing legendary campaign for over 5 years and I thought I had seen pretty much everything the game could come up with, till yesterday that is!

2 Betrayals after you clear the top of the structure of the enemies beyond the blast door, normally the enemies that you deal with next stay down on the shade platform. Yesterday I was playing and all of them trundled on up to the top level and had a go at me. This is the first time the AI decided that was something it could/should do!

I have a feeling that the way I played the beginning of the level may have affected how it decided to counter my actions. Normally after opening the first blast door out of the control room and engaging the covies and sentinels I would find a footing near the action to hide out behind and pick off enemies from there. This last time, I opened the door, headed back to the circle of the control room and sniped with my PP till all of the enemies had bought it (including the second wave of elites and jackals). The second blast door I did the same, retreated and pecked away with the PP and tossed PGrenades till everything met its timely end. When I moved up to take on the next set, on the next level down, they were already at the top and working their way towards my MC butt!

I was just amazed that after 5 years of playing this was the first time the game had reacted this way, and it was good!

It's the fact that every playthrough is a bit if a challenge, and you don't get forced to approach everything a certain way.

That has always been my contention as to what makes CE a superior game to H2. There are so many ways to play CE, to make it easier, more difficult, quicker or slower by changing vehicle use/non-use, weapons combos and routes. There is a ton of experimenting and fun to be had with CE. The big map advantage of H2 is the amount of scenery you can explore, but without enemies to fight, that becomes a bit boring after a short time. The skulls add a dimension, but you still have much more variety available to you in CE for Campaign play.

I love hearing new audio bits for the first time... playing through truth and reconciliation again, and hear Johnson or one of the marines yell "Sit down... -blam!-"

Good times.
I love that, too.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

yea, i always liked the lack of predictability. you can literally cause numerous reactions out of your enemies by changing your approach just a little bit. back when i first picked it up the flood gave me a hard time on legendary due that, everytime i would come around a corner it would be different.

loved it.

Halo CE's campaign is by far the best out of all of the Halos... I dont know what it is about it, its just so much more fun to play than the other ones.

I agree 1000% with what you just said.

the physics can get a little crazy. I once threw a plasma grenade at a group of grunts, and one threw one back. They stuck each other in midair and flew in circles for two seconds. One blew, the other flew... at them. killed them all.

See? The new physics prevents thing like these happening!

Yeah. Our new physics allows Spartans to be killed by flying cones yet able to withstand drops of over 50 meters.

... I prefer the old physics.

It's really too bad about the physics. I'm disappointed they sacrificed the hybrid system. I think it's mostly about the grav lifts, though I could be wrong.

I love Halo 2's campaigns and Halo 3's Campaign, but i have to agree with you, Halo CE has the best campaign in the whole series.
