Do you think this version will be different? And PLEASE TALK about your predictions and information when it's coming out on PC this year.
Thankyou

well my "foughts" as you call them are: sure they will have a few new things, maybe even some new levels. I don’t much like some of the H2 levels other than Zanzibar and the levels that look almost exactly the same as the old ones with a few modifications, like beaver creek it just like battle creek, and there is one like blood gulch as well. Never the less I think everyone is accuses for its release, then I’ll be waiting for the CE version of it. ^.^

Do you collect the PC Gamer magazine? It says when it's roughly coming out this year in 2005. They said Christamas 2005. But this is the British version of PC Gamer, they are voted the best PC gaming reveiwing mag in the whole world, they went world wide. Hope that calmed you down. lol

Well I thought Halo 2 was coming out for the PC in 2006 of December just like we had to wait 2 years for Halo 1 on PC. However I can't take not having a Xbox anymore so I'm just buying one in the Summer. Then i will get my Halo 2. Besides Halo 2 will suck for me on PC because I have a Laptop and it probably won't run good and it will suck to dual wield with the laptop mouse.

It's not going to happen for at least two years from the release. They want everyone who is ever going to buy it for Xbox to have it before they would release a pc version. Anyways I don't think the average gaming computer would be up to speed for Halo 2 for awhile.

(First part is side tangent, and slightly ranting. If you wish, please ignore and skip to second part, which is denoted by a capital line).
Well, you PC users have it good compared to us Mac users.

Two years, yeah right for a Mac. Think 4, or 6 if you use one.

That is one of the biggest reasons Blizzard games sell well. they release simultaneously for Macintosh.

Still, I can wait. All it means is that it will run faster, more reliably, and better when it comes out. I mean, they tested it out and worked out all the bugs on you people (i hope).

SECOND PART

Yeah, i guess it is a little unfair. But you have to remember, the Halo series was, and always will be, an Xbox game. It was originally designed and engineered for it, so the Xbox people will always have an up on us lowly computer users.

HOWEVER, Bungie is, if nothing, loyal to its computer users (or so i've noticed). They were originally a computer company (eg. Marathons Series, Myth), and will not forget (I hope) their computer users. Hopefully MacSoft will hold up its end of the deal concerning their part in the glory of bungie...

yeah, anyway, hopefully i haven't killed the thread, and i haven't made myself out as such a dumbass (I do that often), that I've killed my reliability base.

Stay Cool,
Yout3

errrrr whoever said Halo 2 isint't "up" for today's gaming computers is totally wrong, xbox graphics are way worse than PC for ur info.

also i do not own an xbox, don't worry im not like that guy who came in our forum a while ago procaliming the stupidity of Halo 2 for PC, oh me and me15ter shut down that guy very fast...

also for the guy who owns a labtop, do u seriously use the labtop mouse "pad" as a mouse for gaming? honestly that must be terrible, just buy an optical mouse for less than $10 and hook it up via USB, it's simple and that's what i'd do :)

(this is not meant snottily, even though it may sound that way...)

I didn't say that Xbox was better, i just said that it would always have the game (specifically halo) come out first.

Speaking of optical mice (once again, the awful dillema of what the plural of mouse is...), the cheap ones are ok, but i got one once which had problems all over the board. Forgot what company it was from, but i've resolved to get decent quality mice (once again...) from now on...

Man a laptop for guidence of the gun pointer! Geez man i would get fustrated with that big time! Halo 2 is gonna come out on PC people, i actually cant beleive that some people think Halo2 aint coming out on PC, and by the way, the PC version came out a YEAR later after the PC version, it goes XB version, then PC version, trust my fellow people, it will come to PC.

I have faith that it will, but first to address the guy who said xbox gfx are worse than PCs.

I don't think that's accurate. PC Halo is more pixelated - and don't rag on my comp - it's old, but its an entire year younger than halo for PC - check it

Specs:
AMD Athlon 2000+ XP
GeForce Ti 4200 128 MB DDR AGP
ATA 100 WD 60 GB HD
I've had NEC and KDS CRTs

I can't turn Halo for PC up all the way on my comp which could eat Unreal 2003's lunch. Considering the engine of Halo 2, it might take awhile for the hardware to become mainstream, but an SLI should handle it fine (although, SLI is extreme, not mainstream right now).

Also - Bungie did not make Halo for PC - they handed the Conversion over to Gearbox. Gearbox, to my immediate knowledge has said nothing about Halo 2 for PC, although we could try to e-mail them.

And lastly, yes Halo 2 for PC will come out, if nothing else they'll drop it after Halo 3 drops - that way they can milk it and not lose potential xbox consumers. money talks

not alot of people know this but halo was sopposed too be a mac game but right before it was going to come out bill gates offered bungie alot more than apple could pay them ( because bill gates monopolized the computer market making most software programs only for windows) then the rest is history.

Is there any reason that Halo 2 won't be able to run on todays computers? NO. Both Halo 1 and Halo 2 run well on the Xbox, which I might add is old in computer years, and it hasn't changed its specs (like most gamers do regularly). So the only problem will be if it is rushed or coded slopily. I, for one, am willing to wait the extra time it takes to write efficient code so that I do not have to upgrade my PC, actually, buy a new one cause this one only has PCI slots ( I know, I know, but it was cheap and its better than nothing).

Gumball - Halo 2 would not run well on the average new comp today. Halo 1 would not run well with the gfx turned up on gaming comps produced until almost a year after its debut. Yeah, I know the xbox is old, but it's dedicated. Now, think emulation, and ask yourself why emulation died hard with the N64 - the system used a processor that was under 500 MHz, but I dont think that many machine with triple that speed could run an N64 emulator. Ya see, PCs have to keep track of a whole lot more stuff than console. BTW - code does NOT make things run faster - it can definitely help, but we know Bungie and Gearbox are not n00blets, so the code will be written well. Plan to upgrade your PC, though for pete's sake - Mine's even got AGP and still wont run Halo 1 with the gfx turned all the way up.

Remember, guys - Halo 2's engine MAXED out the hardware capabilities of the xbox. Expect to upgrade - I'm talkin' PCI-X 6800 or X800, at least, if not SLI (btw, a single 6800GT outperforms 2 6600's in an SLI). All things considered as well, MS also owns winbloze, so Halo 2 for PC might be on a 64 bit platform...

When its all said and done, ppl - it's all about the benjamins - wait for one of three things to happens before you see Halo 2 for PC drop:
1) xbox 2 comes out
2) Halo 3 comes out
3) At least a year and a half after Halo 2's debut - MS wants everyone who will buy an xbox for Halo to do so before they start milking the green out of us.
And... who can blame them, eh?

If you have no idea about anything I just said, just call me a TLA spouting moron - but you'd better know what TLA means...

The only thing I have to say to that is that Half life 2 runs a hell of a lot better than halo does. I did say run not run well. I have a nvidia 5500 which is the best pci card I could find and it can run well with high textures and high particles, decals and shadows almost all of the time. Specular, though, slows it right down. Man I wish windows would run better, lotsa crap if ya ask me, but hey, its microsoft with that monopoly thing goin on.

Actually I have another thing to say, by the time halo 2 comes that 6800 will not cost the $680 it costs now, And I will probably have a new machine anyway, but come on SLI? I don't think it will need an SLI machine. My comp cost like $350 so I'm not expecting miracles but Half life 2 looks and runs better than halo so unless my machine changes everytime I play a game, coding WILL and DOES make a difference in terms of speed, performance and the size of the file, but that last one probably isn't an issue as now we can get 200gb hard drives relatively cheap.

to run Halo PC perfectly it's about having the perfect specs. My friend has an ATI 9800 Pro with an AMD 64 3200 and 512 MB ram alosng with a decent sound card, he can everything on full (high detail, high particles, shadows specular decals: all on) and his sound card allows him to turn on EAX sound which makes the game AWESOME! Although i told him to turn off specular which he did cuase with his graphics card specualr on makes everything in Multiplayer at least hurt ur eyes cause it's so bright.
