Here’s a question: Does Bungie work indirectly or directly with the writer Eric Nylund on his books? He seems to have, in his first book, made up a lot about the Halo Universe, i.e. MAC guns and the whole Spartan history. Does Bungie give him extra story line to write about, or does he just write what he wants, then Bungie uses his story line to base a small part of the games story line on?

No they work together on the books. There is a Halo bible, that cannot be strayed from.

The story writers are working very closely with Bungie.

What I figured. And yes I do agree that The Fall of Reach and First Strike were -blam!-ing glorious compared to The Flood. The Fall of Reach I enjoyed especially, hearing about the formation of the Spartans and what not.

Whoever decided not to let Nylund write The Flood should be shot (except for glorious Bungie workers OF COURSE)

No reason to have a descriptive book about a game you can play. It was a good move.
