Number Whatever;

Vehicle Sliding. It was always fun launching hogs up hills and off cliffs just by getting out of them.

Here, here!
I loved the warthogs agility on halo pc... tricking was by far the best on that, IMO... Spins just have not been as great... OK non-assisted spins and flips I should say.

And for my posting... Id have to say i miss all the maps...
All the original, all the pc, all the halo 2... It is a shame that maps get left behind. It is also a shame that we have to keep paying for new ones to play competitively but, hey, I wouldn't want them to have to get real jobs in between each game installment either.
On that note, I also miss the perceived "Underground" status the x-box had at release... now its all my-face this and twitterzize that...
/shrug
I appreciate how those things have opened up access. How things like podcasts have brought us closer to the dev', and let us follow the process closer, but that also is something that makes me feel more removed from the process somehow, and farther from Redmond than I've ever been, even though I moved back to WA so I can sleep in a garbage can outside the B-site till I get pulled on for QA (which I have exp in.)
Maybe I just miss the idea of what the future had in store... nah mostly I miss the MP maps.
;)
PS. I never took any of it for granted.
Nor will I take Reach for granted... all 150 painful dollars worth...

1387 (i think): "Wort Wort Wort"

  • 06.13.2010 12:58 AM PDT

1388. Being able to hold down the jump button and keep on jumping.
1389. Ridiculously awesome amount of blood.
1390. In addition to the last one, the plasma pistol overcharge leaving behind a RIDICULOUS amount of blood for no apparent reason on elites and spartans.

Donald Duck never wore pants, but when he got out of the shower, he always had a towel around his waist...

No game in this series, or any series, will be able to compare to Halo: Combat Evolved.

Halo: CE. This game is the closest to perfection any game will ever come. I saw this game for the first time at a friends house when it was released, but never actually got to play it for myself until I got it all those years ago. Before I had it, I never really saw the game or knew anything about it, except that it was called Halo (a rather strange name for a bloody alien shooter i thought) and was about a war between humanity and the Covenant. The feeling I had when I turned on my Xbox for the first time, put Halo: Combat Evolved in the drive, and played this legendary game for the first time is a feeling I don't think I will ever experience again. Lol, this is kind of a cheesy post, sorry, but playing this game really is emotional for me. Nothing will bring back the feeling I had when I experienced Halo: CE. Hard to explain, but amazing.

1391. The first shot from Keyes' pistol.
1392. The first gun battle with the Covenant in the Cafeteria of the Pillar of Autumn.
1393. Truth and Rec on legendary.
1393. AotCR (as mentioned before) The best level in any game, ever.
1394. Cortana.

1395. The credibility of the story.

1396. The music.
1397. The original Covenant (grunts lol)
1398. The beastly-ness of the original guns. No guns in the new Halo games compare to the awesome look, feel, and realism of the original guns.
1399. The gun model movement when you aim and move around. You aim right, the gun moves right. Strafe to the right, the gun gets pulled to the left (especially the AR)

1400. Running toward the docked Longsword in the last 10 seconds of "The Maw" on legendary.

Some of these things have been said already, and for that I apologize.
There are so many more that I have in my head and want to write, but it would really take forever for me to get them all down and I am super tired. Everything that has been said so far is about right ;)

Threads I threaded:

Two for One

1425. Realizing at the final cut scene just how bad ass the Master Chief really is.

1426. The destruction of the Halo Instalation at the very end and the realization that you just killed millions of Flood, Covenant, and any Marines still on the ring.

  • 06.25.2010 10:36 AM PDT

1427. Awesomely powerful grenades. Throwing a frag grenade at a warthog was actually a good idea, unlike *cough* Halo *cough* 2 and 3 *cough*
1428. The ridge on Blood Gulch by red base. I love it up there.

  • 06.25.2010 1:30 PM PDT

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

1429: No noobish Banshee physics.

I could dogfight like a boss in that thing.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Indestructable warthogs. So much fun...

Halo without Bungie is like a cookie made without love.

1430. Too much flood in the library.

1433: Teleporter Hopping

This was a tactic which I often employed in Halo: Combat Evolved Multiplayer, especially when we had a large group to play with on maps like Battle Creek. I would run around to the back of our base, enter the teleporter, and hop back and forth through it, never staying in one place for too long. I ambushed a great many enemy players with this tactic. Even when my friends' reflexes got the better of mine, I had only to retreat through the 'porter and bring them back onto MY turf. This maneuver was considered very cheap, but by the end of the game half of the opposing team's players were following suit, which brings us to "Things we took for granted" number 1434:

1434. "Teleporter is Blocked" :O

  • 06.28.2010 5:21 PM PDT

Me too. I have to waste ammo now. :(

  • 06.28.2010 5:41 PM PDT

1435. Multiple Sgt Johnsons
1436. Elites reacting to powerful blows. I.E., when blasted point-blank by the shotgun, if they don't die, they fall to their knees and hands, and take a moment to get back up and recover their senses, while wondering, "What in the Forerunner's creation just hit me"? Ah, the good ol' Halo CE 8 guage shotgun.
1437. Telefragging. It was the lolz.
