I know my name was in my sig but somepeople don't read them so I might as well tell you. You know, I have noticed I am getting killed more. Maybe its because of my strafing, not people getting better. They have a word for a sentance like that, just can't think of it. I will try diferent strafes. What type of game do you play? Slayer, CTF? Halo CE? I play Halo PC cause I can't find any good servers, mind you I haven't looked in a while, maybe I'll go check now...

i know a VERY good server thats full of good people, but its almost always full. u have to wait outside of it for a very long time. its called unison gaming. they rotate maps, so search for them everywhere. also, enable all gametypes to find them.

Now, i usually do ctf and some slayer. i'll just come to your place. just tel me ur usual server, and i'll show u some new strafes.

Point and shoot. How hard?

And learn to lead. To lead means to point the gun AHEAD of the person youre aiming at. If a person is running forward, youve got a sniper rifle, aim ahead of the person. Once he crosses your sights, fire.

And if youve got a rocket launcher, just practice with it. With enough luck, you can lead the target too.

By the by, there is a guide with all this here at Bungie.net

I will share with you some of the insights I have found during my playing.

Shooting while strafing - Find a wall, preferably a long one, and, with the weapon you want to use, shoot a mark on the wall. Then strafe right and left trying to hit that mark. Once you feel you can hit that mark or close to it 80% of the time, find a place with lots of lights or other things that can be used as targets and move around trying to shoot at the targets. If you do this for a while, you will get better. If you find that you can't move the reticle fast enough or it is moving to fast, change the mouse sensetivity.

Pistol - The bullets are affected by gravity, so, depending how far away they are, you will need to aim higher than normal. Don't go for the long shots because chances are you will miss. That is what the sniper rifle is for. When shooting at someone aim for the head or just above it or at the higher part of the chest, depending on how accurate you are.

Assault Rifle (Ass rifle) - Use this in small maps and only at close range. Fireing in bursts will improve the accuracy. Basically you just run straight at your target and fire until you get close then melee them. This will probably take them to half health, sheild down, if it doesn't kill them. You have to practise the melee part as it can be tough to time it right.

Shotgun - For use with no shields or at close range. You have to be standing right up close (point blank) to kill in one shot so it is hard to do but if you are close you can take people down with 3 or 4 shots. Aim alittle ahead of your target as then they will move into the spread of bullets.

Rocket Launcher - Never aim at your target unless they are above you. You have to aim at the ground or cliff face right next to them or behind them. Being hit with the explosion will kill them just as good as if oyu hit them with the rocket. Aim ahead of an oncoming vehichle to flip and kill the gunner. The driver usually doesn't die with just one rocket so be prepared to kill him aswell. Good for killing people who are hiding behind rocks or other things like that.

Sniper rifle - You have to experiment how much to lead people as it depends on your ping. You will always have to lead unless they are coming straight at you. If there are no shields, it will kill in one shot and 2 shots with shields (100% health). Don't use the 8x zoom unless you have to because it is slower to move. Use 2x for most shots and 8x for when there is only a little bit of your target showing. You may experience graphical lag when zoommed in and if you do I would suggest you don't snipe that game or don't use the zoom. Don't use the sniper rifle for up close and personal fights as you will just waste you precious ammo.

Needler - Use only if you have to because the needles can easily be avoided. There are times when it is good to have a needler but only in large maps where there are no narrow corridors or sharp turns. If you are having needles fired at you, hide behind something, preferably another person so that the needles don't hit you. If you hit someone with 10 or more needles they will explode causeing extra damage. Always try to do this.

Plasma pistol - God I hate this weapon. If you are forced to use the plasma pistol don't use the charged shot unless you are desparate. Press the trigger very fast and aim ahead of the target so they will run into the plasma.

Plasma rifle - I don't use the weapon much but if you use it I would suggest doing the same thing as the assault rifle. The extra advantage with a plasma rifle is that it stuns. It is very annoying when used against you but it makes it easier to melee.

Fuel Rod Gun - If you use this you will probably be called a noob as it is probably the cheapest gun in the game. Don't use for long shots as the big globs of plasma move relatively slow. Aim ahead of the target and on the ground. This is basicaly a rocket launcher with arching missles.

I think that covers it. If there is a weapon that I haven't mentioned, tell me and I will try to add it.

Nope I forgot the flame trower and grenades.

Flamethrower - Don't play with fire is all I can say. Posted by: ioniz Lol . the flamthrower can set u on fire easily. u should never use it if the enemy's on teh wall or really really near u. if u do a message will come and say u commited suicide. Read the later post to see more.

Plasma Grenade - The plasma grenade is almost useless if you can't master the stick. I personaly haven't and I really don't need it. This is another good "if I'm goin down, your goin down with me!" weapon. Just throw it as your opponent just before you die. If you timed it right it will hit them and stick generating an instant kill. I have played only one person that is skilled at this and I died alot, which is unusual.

Fragmentation Grenade - This is my favourite weapon. You have to throw it into the path of the target or you will miss. It will explode almost as soon as is stops moving so try to make it stop right infront of the target. Most times when I die, I kill my killer with a grenade and it pisses them off. If you are about to die, toss a 'nade. If someone is hiding behind something, toss a 'nade. This is, to a lesser extent, a good way to flip a vehicle. Just throw it into the path of the vehicle, making sure that is doesn't bounce and watch it flip.

u forgot the good old meelee attack...........okay okay

u didn't have to repeat what i said in thge guide. that strategy gumball, is a very good one. u should join th group called mjolner battle tactics.
Now, the pistol u have to aim a little higher for the 3 shot kill i mean a lot higher than the head.
Halo is a very wierd planet that has gravity

What strategy is that? I would assume that they have aritificial gravity generaters on halo but then wouldn't you float cause of the circle? Interesting... think of the possibilities! The 3 shot kill is hard to master and it was just a general aiming thing anyways.

To add on a bit about your needler thing....
If you have continuous campers sniping from the little caves on Battle Creek, you can usually catch the snipers off gaurd with a needler clip.

download this map called AI, its for halo CE. You can get some VERY good sniper practice from there. After practicing in it, I owned a h2_zanzibar game. I sniped this guy from across the map without zooming

I have found that practice makes perfect when learning how to snipe. There's really no quick way to learn it (eg took me about a year to snipe accurately, and i STILL miss occasionally. 'course my ping fluctuates continually, so its a little harder for me).
Properly leading is the most difficult part of sniping. depending on how the person is moving, and how you are moving, this can be VERY difficult, or rather easy. you just have to find out what works properly for you, because there's really no way to tell you how.

Have played for WAY to long for minimal skill gain,

oh, and just so you know, that AI map has like 15 bots in the beginning, each one with a sniper rifle. It's kinda dangerous at that part.

and to add to the other guy's list:
Flamethrower: Use only if you're in VERY close quarters. You can also use it as a visual shield against snipers. If you know that a sniper has you in his/her sights, you can spray fire in front of you so he/she can't see you. That'll give you precious time to hide.

Ya I forgot the flame thrower. I never use it unless I only have a plasma pistol. I always kill myself. I wouldn't recomend you use it as it is easy to fire then run into the flame, killing yourself. If you learn how to use it right though it can be very effective. If you hit someone with the flame it will continue to cause damage. This is a great "if I'm goin down, your goin down with me!" weapon. Along with grenades. O I forgot grenades too! I will post that later as I have to go now.

Heyyo,

Nice guide dude, a little basic, but nice anywho. I saw you say "heyyo" lol, it's like I'mma fashion statement or something now. :p

Anywho, I wrote up a guide that has to do with aiming, but not actual tactics. It's 3045 words long, and it's aboot the understanding of the HaloPC netcode. I did a few remarks towards how things are handled in HaloCE, so I consider it both games. It explains why we need to lead our shots, gives examples, and splits up all the weapons into categories like Instant Projectiles, slow moving projecticles. Btw, melee counts as an instant projectile, so you have to lead your melee attacks too. I'll tell you why right now: melee attack ain't a melee attack to the game. To Halo? you're launching a really short range invisible instant projectile out of your guy, and triggering an animation that looks like you're bashing someone. So yep, higher your ping, the more you have to lead/predict your melee attacks. Not only do you have to take into account which way the enemy's moving, but the direction you're moving too, so that's why most people miss their melee attacks.

So there ya go, a little timbit of information until I can get the full guide up. Since muff's site's down n' he can't host me anymore, I'm gonna try to get the password to me webspace over at me ISP and start hosting it myself. Hopefully I can get this done today after school.

yes i plan on updating my guide soon.( if i have time.) by the way, are u a good halo playa? whats ur halo name?

a little science for ya: gravity makes things go down through larger masse's pull. basically means bullets ahve a the tendnecy to go down cause halo has gravity too. so when u aim for the head, it'll hit the chest instead. if u aim above head it'll hit head. Got it?

As for the flamethrower in blood gultch, unless you are defending a base, it is not the greatest weapon in the world. For those of you who need some help with the flamethrower, here's some tips.

1. Don't EVER shoot the flamethrower down when falling. you WILL start on fire.

2. Only use it in close quarters maps (such as Chill Out and Longest) and in bases.

3 That sniper shield tactic mentioned really DOES work

Yeah, I gotta go,
