actually this does pose a problem, in halo 2 because of dual wielding there will be more places on maps where they have just ammo laying around instead of just a weapon, and picking up the weapon to get ammo, otherwise it would be to easy to get weapons to dual wield with and the game wouldn't be balanced. But if since they don't have ammo for plasma weapons, they will have either more plasma weapons lying around then anything else and thus have many people with dual wielding plasma pistols and plasma rifles or plasma weapons would be more scarce, because there are less of them lying around and becuase ammo is hard to come by. so the most reasonable solution to this is to make plasma weapons have a replaceable battery.
Kind of hard to read because of the run-on, but....
Again, it's no different if you pick up batteries or a new gun....it's the same thing. The whole point of either, is that you get more ammo. So why would it matter which way the ammo was obtained? The only ammo for a covenant weapon in the first game, was the needler...and that's because it's a projectile based weapon. I think this will remain true for Halo 2, because there is simply no reason to change it.
