I havent seen anything on an Xbox 2 yet, is this really something that is being discussed or a rumor? If it's real does anyone have a link to info about it?

Playstation did it, and they suck compared to Microsoft. So that means that if Microsoft doesn't do that, they suck too. You and I know Halo 2 will be the best videogame yet, and it will be a classic that should be playable on the next Xbox.

it has been discussed many times, if you go to ign they have an article about it and i just finished watching a show on g4techtv, and they also ahd a large discussion about xbox next and backwards compatability, as of right now it doesnt look so good. as to do backwards compatability you have to sacrifice time in developing new hardware. i only hope that microsoft doesnt screw up.

Who -blam!-in cares?

The xbox 2 is still rather far off. And Halo 2 isnt.

Also, xbox 2 will be FAR more advanced...different codes, processors, everything. Levels above XBOX...many levels. Yes it would be nice, but you're -blam!-ing about something that doesn't matter. I'll still be playing Halo 2 on my xbox...even if xbox 2 is out. It's all for the good of the game (next gen games)

So, you want to the XBOX 2 to suffer, so they can make it backwards compatible instead of focusing on making the most powerful gaming machine that's meant to blow minds and -blam!- pants...wow how stupid of an idea is that.

Are you just going to light your xbox, halo, and halo2 on fire as soon as the goddamn thing drops or what?

Shut the -blam!- up and play it on your xbox your whiny b!tch.

so maybe i am complaining about it, but think about it when a new system comes out how often do you play on the old one, or think about it from microsofts view ,more powerful hardware, with new games wich means updating everything including xboxlive, so whatr happens when the next xbox hardware wont run on the same form of xboxlive that xbox runs on they update and change programs, how long after the next xbox do you think that microsoft is going to keep suporting the xbox after xbox 2 launches, it might be a year and a half away, but its still coming just think back to perfect dark. rare made that game 100 times better than golden eye what happened, a new console came out and everybody forgot about it everybody remembers goldeneye but how often do you here about perfect dark. lets hope this doesnt happen with halo 2

LISTEN UP. xbox CAN be backwards compatable even though the chipsets are completely different. How you may ask well through the prosses of emulation jimmy. the new xbox can emulate the old xbox games but the problem with that is that it takes a long time to perfect the emulation coding. SO if microsoft decides to have backwards compatability it will be good but take longer but if they dont it will be cheaper and take less time. either way i dont care because even if i had a playstaton 2 and some old playstation games why the hell would i want to play those instead of some way better ones.

im not even planning on getting a Xbox 2. When i get Halo 2, that will last me forever (unless Bungie releases a Halo 3 for Xbox 2, or some other amazing game, then i would get a xbox 2)

i say no becuase all the money people spend to get xbox back then AND NOW will just go to waste when they get xbox 2 with a backwords on it. So i say you should have to keep your xbox out to play the old ones and the people that don't have a xbox now that want to play halo 2 will have to go out and buy a xbox and a xbox 2 to play new games. So more money for xbox!

It would be nice but unecessary if you want to play oldschool Xbox games it's not hard to unplug 3 little cables and plug in a different set of cables. The cost of backwards compatibility is that it might be more expensive and have performance issues. And it's a fact that only 10% of PS2 owners play PS1 games anyway.

well there is a very large difference from halo 2 and ps1 games. it all in their hands now. whatever happens, halo 2 is still coming out on nov 9 ya baby. and about that hard drive for xbox2 they are still thinking about it and several ohter forms of memory.

I thought that there was not going to be a second Xbox...the current one is just fine, in my opinion.

right so i have heard many rumers about how xbox next wont beable to play xbox games. if this is true that would limit the life span of halo 2 and make all the hard work that bungie has put into the game a wayste of time as it will make the life span very short. that ia ovcourse if xbox next comes out holliday season 2005. if you cant play halo 2 on the next xbox i will be really dissapointed. to me its like a slap in the face to bungie, i mean look at halo it came out three years ago and itsstill in the top ten sellers for xbox every month. i know its only one game, but its a game that is going to sell a hole hell of allot of people to not only buy an xbox if they dont have one , but also to get the next xbox. i dont know what they are going to do , you tell me

Sa'll about graphids shmaphics. There isn't much more to achieve with next-gen consoles if developers (most of 'em anyway) continue to dish out crap games. Anyone else notice that? The distinct lack of quality of nearly 70% of all newly released games within the last two years?

I'd have to agree with the people who say that the xbox is for xbox games and the xbox 2 is for xbox 2 games. I mean, the N64 wasnt compatible with SNES games...and I still love SNES games. So what do I do when I feel the need to play them? Do I cry and eat quarts of ice cream because my N64 doesnt play them? No, I turn the SNES on! OMFG LOLz Pwn3D!. Christ it's not that difficult.

it depends what they are going to sacrafice. If they need to give up great graphics, then no, i dont think its worth it. If they dont sacrafice a thing, then why not, sure, especially w/ halo 2 comin out. Besides, Gamecube didnt have backwards compadability and i just bought those special N64 games for it anyway, like majora's mask or the ocarina of time...
