Why So Serious?

I just ordered it. 80 dollars on Newegg--incredible deal, considering my local Best Buy was selling it for 140.

Now I know it's kind of backwards to ask whether it's worth the money AFTER buying it, but...IS it worth the money? It's got 512 MB of RAM, it's 256-bit, and it's PCI-e.

Thanks.

if your going to play Halo PC yes,

But if your trying to run H2V, you need more ram. at least 1G.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Sounds good to me.

Do you mean system RAM or video card RAM? Because I have a gig of system RAM, it's the video card that has 512 MB.

And in any case, I ran H2V on med settings 1024x768 with a PCI version of the 2400 HD. So far as I can tell, the X1950 owns the 2400 HD for gaming. Don't plan to play H2V now anyway, as I don't have Vista and I thought it sucked royally.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

lol you don't need 1gb of video ram to run H2v...

512mb is the sweet spot for this year and probably next....

The game wouldn't run smoothly for me under 2 gigs of RAM.

Honestly, I've heard that everywhere, but when I played it with a gig of RAM, a 2.4 GHz processor, and a Radeon X1300, it played very smoothly on med settings. I don't know if that's an unusual occurence, but in any case my system has improved substantially since then. And I'm certainly not trying to measure the X1950 based on H2V--I'm never playing it again. It sucked ass, and quite frankly was a poor representation of the PC game repertoire because it was a bad port.

I'll be playing games like BioShock, Turok and F.E.A.R, and according to the reviews I've read at least two of those three run perfectly fine on the X1950. I just wanted to get the input of actual gamers as well.

Ah, okay. Thought you were aiming for H2V. Hope the other games run well for you.

You need 2gb of ram to run H2V decently.

Yes HPC will run fine, can't say the same about the others.

aka lino4

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

X1950 = Xbox 360

Or something like that, the GPU is similar.

You'll be able to max most games I reckon. I would have gotten the 3850 instead though.
