interesting... i was drawing on a piece of paper and i was trying to figure out how much information is going through a network between xboxes. now i work with computers... i mean i build them, i can network locally and through the net. ive even rewritten configuration files to hack games. (let me make this clear, i dont cheat i do conversions and never to gain advantages online. ok now that i clearified let me continue.) im a self learner, point being i have no professional schooling and am no expert. But, im seeing a 3d environment. thats... oh... well 3 numbers right. lets say you have a map thats... oh hell a 10 Km cube. think of a 3d map 10 Km end to end or to any corner. i could be wrong but... i think thats big for a map. now say we want to know where something is down to the centimeter. i think thats 7 numbers 3 times or 21 bytes where is he looking thats annother 21 bytes is he crouched thats 1 byte 1 number. what gun has he useing thats maybe 2 bytes (going by 1/2/4/8/16/32/64/128) what sprite is it. thats maybe 3 bytes. 48 bytes total, refreshing... whats a tv frame at... 25ish. refreshing 25 times a second. thats 1200 bytes 1.172 KB. its possible to run a game with 16 people on a 56k modem. if the modem pinged at a nice 20 ms. and were symetrical. NOT The point though! math i can do. if someones interested in a graph and an essay, ill gladly write the formulas, make you a graph and E-mail you 10 pages if i must. but i just cant stand LAG! i have alot more on this but i would have to write for hours and ill just toss this out there and if anyone cares... you know. ok it was a bit of a ramble. but im just trying to throw out ideas you smarter people might be able to use.
