Bungie, I think you should make halo 2 where people can not time the powerups/weapons. In my oppinion, timing takes away the gameplay. Make the timing on the powerups random to a certain extent. And you could have the timing go from when someone touches the powerup. I know you know what i'm talking about. Make it random so that people can't time the powerups.

Anyways, this is my oppinion. I would like to see halo 2 where there is no timing.

keep them on the time basis they are its fine. timers take away camping beacuse instead of camping rocket ledge for minutes at a time people wit timwers go there for liek 3 secs and leave. powerups take skill to control and makles maps have more meanign to them and skill rather then luk of stumpblin upon a powerup once in a while. wit timers it takes both teams to fight for that powerup and the better team wit better strategies will win. timers take out the luk in halo and makes it more competive. go to any national level tornament and all elites agree timing is great for halo.

i agree with you and you have some good points.

but it is so unfair to play against someone online who is timing if you are not. it's no fun to be getting killed by an invisible guy with a rocket launcher constantly. i just think that timing gives people an unfair advantage over people who don't. i personally don't like it, and would not have fun timing on someone who is not.

but since u have some good points for timing, here is a suggestion that i think would make the game better.

have 2 options. when u are setting up a multiplayer gametype. you should be able to select either "timing" or "no timing" for the gametype. if you select "no timing" then everything is random and there is no way for the other guy to time all the power ups/ weapons. But if you select "timing", then I think there should be a display on screen that shows when all the powerups/ rocket launcher will respawn. i think this should be displayed on screen b/c if people are going to time, then i think they might as well put it on screen and make it easy for everyone to time. this will level out the playing field. if people are going to time, then everyone who is playing should be able to time without having to memorize the times.

Also, I would like for there to be an option for "powerups" or for "no powerups" that way people can play the game with or without powerups.

I would like there to be a list of weapons, a list of vehcles, and a list of power-ups, in which you can pick which ones you want off or on. Then timing wont matter if you turn off power-ups, have no rocket launcher, no fuel rod gun(I hope is in halo 2, but different than the PC fuel rod), the main thing that matters is how good you are.

timing is horiblle for halo if one team is not doin it i can understand ur problem, geting killed all the time by rockets it suks, i usta hate timing, but then i found out the advantages far outgreatned the negatives. yes it it cheap if one team is timing and other one isnt, but u kno wut the other team should just evolve and use a watch and count every 60 seconds its not that hard. it will solve alot of problems if halo 2 just creates games so u can edit out powerups. i for one will only play with them on tho, not becausei liek rocket whoring our powerup whoring but they make the game more fun and tactical. think as it this way if a map like damnation had no powerups y would u even bother movin just camp spots and wait for people around the corner gets real boring or same thing wit hang em high y bother leaving top of blue if thers no rocket to go after.

Hey, what if it even gave a warning when the item was about to spawn. Maybe you'd even have people fighting over the spawns... that would be cool... and vehicle spawns too... wow...

I think you should just start learning how to time weapons, and stop complaining because someone is better than you. It isn't a special advantage, you could do it too. So stop whining and do something about it.

IMO, hate the idea of power ups, sure you can use them for tacticle advantages, but then the game becomes centered around the spawning of a little box or pyramid that gives you twice the chances of winning any fight. It just seems a little child-ish, just like covering those telepads. Yes it is effective however it just kills fun and makes certain strategies pointless...

if beleiveng that knowing where a poerup spawns is skillful, what are you on, go play Pac Man (sorry, but i had to) everyone (even new comers) know how to find a power-up, but the real skill is in using them, for me however, i dislike powerups, they uneven, what was once, a fair fight... I do, however like the rocket, i dont tend to pick it up much, (cant be stuffed running there, unless i happern to be near it). However, it does give a player an advantage, (unevening the field) but only by a small amount, they become stronger, but a good tactic can still see them dead.

Sometimes unlike powerups, as characters ith these can be too strong even with the best tactic.

Back on topic, i dont thin it should be timed, depending on what weapon (plasma pistol, like ten seconds, to power up 2 minutes) it should start timing only after it is collected... eg, after the plasma pistol is collected, 10 seconds later, there is another one. That would be a better system in my opinion

it is true that i can learn how to time weapons in halo if i want to. it is also true that it's not a special advantage. but not everyone knows about it first of all. so in my opinion that is unfair. for instance, if i just bought a new game and didn't tell my friend all the buttons and played him at it. how hard would it be to beat him? if i play someone online in halo who doesn't know how to time and i am doing it, then i wont feel too good about beating him. that is why if there is going to be timing i suggested that it should just be displayed on screen where everyone can see it. to me that makes it fair to everyone and makes those who are unaware of this aware of it. the only reason i would see that anyone who times would have a problem with this is b/c they like to time weapons and don't want other people to know how so that they can win easier.

i would also like to say that i am not complaining or whining that anyone is better than me. i am simply trying to state my oppinions. the person who beat me b/c of timing wouldn't have beat me if he wasn't timing. battling over powerups may take skill, but learning how to time takes no skill at all. i have heard that you can download computer programs that will tell u exactly when everything is coming back. so i guess that takes some skill to find the website, download the program, and then figure out how to install it and use it.

burn in hell!

timing sux ass, and no, there is not a single good argument for it. to add something that requires no skill, like timing, is simple idiotic. try counting in you head, thats skill. go out onto the fighting field, pick up whatever weapons, and then go fight some people, and try to kill them. if you happen to not like weapons other than the pistol or SSM, you havnt played halo and you will probably lose if you trying playing people that are good. if you are good, then dont f ucking time the weapons. there is no point, other than to be a fairy.

i hate your kind. i went to a halo tourney and there were timers there...yeah, i came prepared. i took my toucan sam hand puppet that skweeks. i used it in one hand, and started counting...

SQWAAAAAAAAAAAK-blam!--blam!--blam!-!!!!!!!!!!!!! one
SQWAAAAAAAAAAAK-blam!--blam!--blam!-!!!!!!!!!!!!! two
SQWAAAAAAAAAAAK-blam!--blam!--blam!-!!!!!!!!!!!!! three
SQWAAAAAAAAAAAK-blam!--blam!--blam!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you get the picture.

one last thing. elites, those so called good halo players. they suck ass. my friend took out a team of them, alone, going to 50[im going to pass up all the other times i fought against elites]. i consider my friend pretty decent at halo. almost as good as me.

burn in hell, too. and timers arnt better, they lose a lot, even to non timing people. they happen to be idiots that think they can squeeze in some extra advantage that does nothing but make them look like asses. and if its not some special advantage, then why do it? why not be lazy like every other cool person in the world.

Look if you can beat someone if they time and you don't, that's fine.
If you can beat someone BECAUSE you time, that's fine too.
Don't complain because something doesn't go your way, get over it and play better. Life is unfair, but timing certainly is, considering anyone can do it. I don't like the idea of timing programs, that's cheap, I agree. But as for the people who legitimately time things, Good For Them. I time too, not to get the powerups, but to shoot at them. So I have an advantage over timers that go for the powerups.

I DO hope that Halo2 has an option to turn these off, if that's how you want to play a particular game, but not only is it damn near impossible to stop timing, (it's very hard to write a random time sequence for that many items) it's unnecessary, and pointless.

If it works, they aren't idiots. And if they get caught up by it, they are. Either way, it's a stupid thing to get mad over, so take the tube socks out of your He-Man Underoos, and grow some balls. If you had the skills you say you did, it wouldn't matter a single solitary iota if people timed respawn or not.

It's a game, pure and simple. If you can't hack it, take the disc out of the machine, and trade it into your local gamestore so someone that can take the heat can play.

By the way kazoo, it's nice and warm down here....

wow kazoo u hafta be the bigest moron ever. dont even kno how to reply to ur topic. its clear to me and others that you are real bad at halo. along with your friends. you prob went to ur local frags r us tornament and got pwned by su,m local noobs who had timers. u cry ever since grow up.. its doesnt take a genious to see that bungie made everything come back at a certain intervel. if they didnt want people to time then y is everything come back on an exact 60 seconds. halo is not the first game to use timers alot of pro gamers for pc have been doin it for years in games such as quake 2 and 3 its not a big deal if ur an elite gamer. and to say that ur friends or u or whoever u were babalin about beat sum elite team. ok show up to any mlg event their website is mlgpro.com i gurantee u and ur noob squad dont even take top 60 outa 70 teams, im done wit u....

If Halo 2 didn't have powerups, and I couldn't get a hold of the respawn times, I simply wouldn't play it. Its funny how people talk about timing like its hacking or something. Yeah, repeatidly counting a minute in your head/ on a watch is such a cheat. Every noob eventually gets a wake up call, and realizes "omg powerups might actually be important to winning in this game"
Like none of you guy whored the red turtle shells in mario kart :-\ lol
Its also somewhat ironic that people play by these nooby morals, in a killing game.
If everyone timed, we wouldn't have these problems. Instead of eliminating powerups from Halo2, I think respawn times should be made more available.
I can't really argue with anyone about this, only feel bad for them. Like Sic said there are respawning powerups for a reason. If ya can't deal with it find another game.

OK I dont time, I also do not pick up power ups. Neither do the people I play against. While I see what you "timers" have to say I just dont like power-ups full stop! For me Halo is about beating my opponent because I am better not because I have 2x more shields than him!
Dont get me wrong I am not calling you unskilled or a Noob or anything like that, you just use different tactics to me; hell I dont know if your better than me, but the point is you dont know youre better than me either! Sicfuc, you just presumed Kazoo was crap at Halo. But how do you know? Admitadly Kazoo was needlessly aggressive in his post, but that doesnt make him a crap Halo player!
I can see why a team that doesnt time could get annoyed by a team that does time! So an option to randomize timing would remove a lot of arguements, but timing to me is just another tactic, to me its like complaining that you got attacked by four people!

yeah, i was a bit agressive. i was kinda drunk, i think too. i dont really remember too well.

oh, and i do suck at halo. im more like endnote in playing, but my friends use powerups. not me. and i only pick up weapons off of the bodies of my fallen foes, other than the AR, ill go pick that weapon up.

and if you time in your head/ watch, thats fine, but many a people have computer programs or alarms, and thats just getting ridiculous. but i really dont care. its obvious when i play against timers that they are timing, and it doesnt mean crap since halo1 is such a badass game. powerups dont even do much, let alone the a misssile launcher. i jsut run thru the map and kill people before they get the poweups. and i have usually have an AR and a Plasma Pistol, and with those weapons i can take on either powerup as if it was nonexistent.

ex. battlecreek. if anyone goes for the missile launcher, which you can se from a mile away, i bust out my needler and get a neddler kill. its humiliating and they dont have a SSM.
