OK, So I have Halo CE all nice and dandy but I can't figure out how to use the new maps all those really smart people have made. What I have been doing is downloading the maps in to my anything and everything folder and then when I try to play that map I get the stupid "Unable to join server message" justas if I hadn't gotten the map. So do I need to put the map in a special location or is there some secret process to install them that I've never heard of

Any help would be great cause then I could play those nice and shiny new maps that are still shrinkwrapped.

You have to put the custom maps in the "Maps" folder. Go to My Computer, then C drive, then Program Files, then Microsoft Games, then Halo CE, then Maps. Then drag your downloaded maps into the Maps folder. It should work. You did unzip the maps, right, with WinRAR?

u pulled the file out of the file right(confusinf, sorry)

What i mean is when u use winrar, it creates a map folder, go to the folder, go in it, and a file should be inside(doesnt look like folder icon) put THAT inside the maps folder. That might help, ive had problems before like that, if u need more help, just continue this post and ill c what else i can do

First you have to unzip them. If they're in .rar format, use WinRAR.

Once you uncompress the file, you'll have a .map file. i.e. cliffhanger.map. The .map file is the one that needs to go in the maps folder. The maps folder is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\maps

It's easiest if you make a shortcut to the maps folder and put it on your desktop. That way you don't have to root through all those folders every time you download a new map.

You'll need to restart HaloCE once you drop the new .map file in the maps folder. Then you go through the game browser and find a server running the map you want to play. Be aware that you have to have the same version of the map that the server is running. For example, if the server is running nightcamp, and you only have nightcamp_ce (the revised version of nightcamp), then you can't join the game. You have to have the same version as the server.
