Hey there! I've started a new comic series, The Apparatus. Instead of blabbering on and on about how I think it's cool and all, I'll just post the definition.

By BrantRecon

A Halo 3 comic series

The Special Espionage and Strike Force is sent on a mission to gather information and eliminate a terrorist group after a year of inactivity. Gunnery Sergeant Lewis McDowell and Sergeant Major Jason Freeman investigate the group and try to eliminate it.

I'm drawing the image from my website's multimedia blog if you wish to subscribe to it for updates, however, I'll also post the links to the direct images here if you wish.

Warning! If you use greasemonkey scripts, especially ones that display images in the forums without having to click on them, the page may seemed stretched. To see the full size image, simply click on the image.

All constructive feedback is openly welcome. Flaming by appointment.

Current accounts used in production (if I have anybody help me in production, their name goes here):
Curry5squad (account you send friend requests to if you want to play me, or anything similar)
BrantRecon (My more personal yet only Silver account, when I have a good income I may reactivate)

Please enjoy!

It's pretty good, there are some points of criticism I would like to bring to your attention. First, I would suggest possibly using the standard 8.5 x 11 format, it's just easier, in my opinion. Second, perhaps you shouldn't use the same size image for every "box," per se, vary it a little throw in a panoramic across the middle, for example. Third, since you obviously have basic image editing talents, I would suggest possibly enhancing certain image to possibly capture a certain mood that you are trying to achieve, and I don't mean just throwing on a filter.

What program are you using to edit this? Photoshop/MS Paint? There is a program out there that I have played around with called "Comic Life," that is basically a comic creator that comes with different templates, fonts, etc. and can be saved as .pdf file if you ever want to print it out.

Other than that it's very well done!

Thanks for the input. I actually don't just use a simple filter, since it's already used (Ex: Reclaimer) and I do intend on using more effects in the future, especially for action scenes. I like the HD format, and over time once I get more familiar with the program I'm using I'll start mixing it up, I'm sorry for making it a little bland and hope to soon change that. The program I'm currently using is Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0, and it's fun to use...however slightly on the frustrating side (not easily able to make shapes with borders, ect.), I'll look into Comic Life though, maybe it'll be easier to use.

Thanks again for the input, I'll try my hardest at improving over time, and also releasing frequently, as in hopefully every other day.

It'd be cool to see this go mainstream, but I guess that just depends on my work on it.

Note: Oops! I left out a panel on page two! It's not too entirely vital, however I'll try to get in soon, sorry!

Here is the wikipedia description of Comic Life. It came with my MacBook Pro and I've played around with it numerous times, and it is very user friendly.

In reference to the images, I would suggest de-saturating and contrasting the images to give it a darker, gritty feel, similar to the FX Filter on the Legendary maps. The best advice I can give is just play around with all the Photoshop tools to see what kind of effects you get. Also, there are hundreds upon hundreds of tutorials on the web, just search and you should find some.

Hey guys, sorry for taking so long to get this next page up! I had a rough time with sending my pictures in to the Bungie Server, and on top of that I somehow lost the video and had to redo it all. Thanks for waiting!

I may at some point, but that would be when I have upper scale conflicts going on and no one will have their gun at rest. Until then, I will stay local since it's easier to create a dramatic effect.

That, and too, the two main characters (Freeman and McDowell) are from two accounts, Freeman coming from my gold account Curry5squad, and McDowell coming from my Silver and more personal account Brantrecon. It's hard to have a Silver account play online with others, so it's just easier unless absolutely necessary to stay local.

I only have 2 controllers though, so unless I get more, online-made scenes may happen soon.

Thanks

The next few pages may seem slower paced, but it's formatted as a comic book would be, or in a more comparative sense, Reclaimer by Jim Stitzel. It'll take quite a few pages before moving from scene to another.

But it's only just begun!

If this becomes more popular, from being featured to just plain viewed by a lot of people, I may make a group on the comic to make it easier to find.

Sorry for such the long wait on this one! The holiday weekend kinda threw me off for a while. Anyways, enjoy! I'll try to increase the rate on which I make these.

What surprises await our heros ? lazer trip mines ? giant rodents in the tunnels ? or a full party of guards playing poker ?

Guards playing poker? Sounds cliche'.

Yea, it took me a while to get this one up too. I'm hoping with this Christmas break coming up, it'll be much easier to work on these.

heh, nice.
What will they do now ?
Is it really a trap ? or is it just a pre recorded message to scare off intruders ?
Will our heros stay and fight ?...
