This is for you, MODS, I'm a Mod at another forum, and there's a lot wrong with this one.

1) allow for users to SEARCH. It's pretty annoying when people ask 25 times a day how to get bungie.net behind their gamertag

2) allow users to view all of their own posts. It's extremely hard to get answers to questions on here because it's a pain to even find your own posts after more than a days time.

3) WARN people before banning/suspending them. I have been suspended twice now, and I have no idea why it happened either time

4) Get that Godawful bungie tool bar thing off the bottom of the screen. It serves no purpose. It is ugly and it inhibits board usage.

5) Stop being jerks to users. I've never been on a forum where the mods were more self righteous and controlling than here. This is an internet forum about a MATURE rated game, and yet people are constantly badgered about foul language, spreading rumors, and making references to race and/or homo-blam!-ity. LIGHTEN UP. If you want to be a cop, go become a cop. If you want to punish kids, slap wrists, and tie your -blam!- hairs in tights little bundles, then become a babysitter or a kindergarten teacher.

Most important of ALL: Stop trying to be so unique and cool and switch this forum over to the standard format used by the millions of other forums on the web. This format is downright stupid and inconvenient.

1. Oldest complaint ever.
2. Agreed.
3. Agreed.
4.No.
5. Your right, people should be allowed to be rascist, spread rumours and swear like there's not tomorrow. I am very dissapointed in you Bungie.

You are obviously a mod at a small forum. You have no idea what it would be like to moderate here.

If the mods warned EVERY single user before banning them... the time consumed would cause many problems to remain unsolved. The rules are there for a reason. People should read them, and abide by them. THere shouldn't be any warnings. Disregard the rules, get banned. It's really that simple. These forums are simply too large to accomodate for most of the petty things you described.

I find this thread stupid, pointless, and downright rude. The mods have done a whole lot for the community, and do a great job. You aren't in ANY position to make demands or critisize their actions.

Only Becausae I'm Awesome

Forum Tutorials --- WATCH THEM AND LEARN

1. A search feature is currently under construction from the Ideal Science group.

2. That will most probably be coming along with the search feature also.

3. People who break the rules should have known what they did. If you didn't, then you obviously havn't read the FAQ's and Rules

4. There is nothing wrong the the tool bar. Have you considered minimizing it?

5. This website has well over 800,000 users in it's community, and that number is growing every day by the thousands. The moderaters have to be tough, so that the jerks, and morons don't ruin it for the rest of us. They try to keep things organized. If they were to let everyone break the rules, it would just be the apocalypes.

6. Any other type of forum would not cope with the sheer amount of activity this forum puts up with every minute. If this were to change to a PHP forum system, then it wouldn't even exist anymore. This type of forum format, was built, so it could actually handle the amount of usage it gets, rather than your little php forums that'd break the second if it were filled with as many members as this one.

So you think just because a game is rated M people should be cut loose to bring down others? Being racist in the country I live in is against the law. The mods are pretty light on foul language, unless it has to do with some other thing (like race, gender, religion, etc.). They do their jobs and that they don't even get paid for. It'd be a lot worse around here without, but I'm sure you wouldn't think so.

I try not to judge people, but you are an idiot. I'm sorry if that's not cruel enough for you. I probably should've added some "foul language" or some racial slur so I could be as "cool and unique" as you. I'd like to see the forum you run, it must be as good as the Xbox forums.

Can you provide a link for the site you moderate?

(The Bottom Nav-Bar has function. Press the triangle to the left to minimize it.)

1) The MODS did not make the site, and do not control that aspect of it. That would be the people who run bungie.net. So complain to ideal sceince

2) See above

3) READ the forum rules before posting.

4) There are other people on this site who use the toolbar, and some of us like it.

5) Well when small children come to a forum about a mature rated game, they are at least expected to act like adults. Besides the MODS do alot behind the scenes, hence taking time out of their busy lives. I'd be cranky too.

Most important of ALL: This is bungie.net. It is unique and cool, and if you don't like it, then go back to the millions of forums on the web that use that other format.

1. The Google of all forum searches is coming Soon™.

2. Bookmark them?

3. I agree. We should tell you why you have been blacklisted.

4. Serves no purpose? How about being the only way to navigate around the whole site?

5. We enforce the rules. Sorry if you don't like the way it's done, but we've had lots of problems and have had to be fairly strict. If you don't like the rules then no-one is forcing you to stay.

Finally: Don't pretend like you're the expert. This format was chosen after careful consideration by the web development team to give optimal performance and the features that they needed.

Name it. I will publicly laugh at the difference in audience and member count.

1) allow for users to SEARCH. It's pretty annoying when people ask 25 times a day how to get bungie.net behind their gamertag
Oh, I'm sorry I forgot to program this in. I wasn't aware that I was even involved in coding the forum software. Seriously, if this post is directed specifically at the moderators, why are you talking about something that is totally beyond our control? If you must know, such a feature is being worked on by the web team that works at Bungie.

2) allow users to view all of their own posts. It's extremely hard to get answers to questions on here because it's a pain to even find your own posts after more than a days time.
See point #1.

3) WARN people before banning/suspending them. I have been suspended twice now, and I have no idea why it happened either time
We do tell people why they are banned. Warnings prior to blacklistings are issued for minor offenses, and probably work a lot better on your small forum where everything is easier to monitor. Here, troublemakers tend to get timeouts. We don't have time to be babysitters.

As for your blacklistings... maybe they had to do with flaming? Just a guess.

4) Get that Godawful bungie tool bar thing off the bottom of the screen. It serves no purpose. It is ugly and it inhibits board usage.
That's your opinion. Thanks for sharing.

5) Stop being jerks to users. I've never been on a forum where the mods were more self righteous and controlling than here. Am I supposed to be personally insulted by this? I am. Rules of netiquette are expected here, and all the things you refer to are against the rules. If you do not agree with these rules and various terms set forth in the Code of Conduct, stop using this website. If you are unable to voluntarily comply, I can help.

Most important of ALL: Stop trying to be so unique and cool and switch this forum over to the standard format used by the millions of other forums on the web. This format is downright stupid and inconvenient.
I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but you don't know everything. The other "popular" forum softwares aren't nearly as able to deal with the huge amounts of traffic this site recieves. Don't pretend you know more than you do. You look stupid afterwards.

In closing, I would like to tell you that you that you really pissed me off with this post, which was probably your intention. You have shown yourself to be quite less than mature and very ignorant.

Number One, tell us the website you are a moderator of. I'd really like to hear it.

Number Two, a search is coming soon. At least, that is what I have heard.

Number Three, most people will probably know why they were blacklisted. If not, they can just ask if they weren't told why.

Number Four, you can minimize it by hitting that arrow next to the games section. It isn't that annoying and like chris547 said, it is helpful.

Number Five, sorry, but I am not going to say anything on this.

Dang!

I'm wondering now if I ever should have moved this from it's original forum (Optimatch).

Because I don't think that the author is even aware of how much of a "response" he's gotten.

Haha! he's -blam!-ing to Bungie while he isn't even responsible enough to post in the right forum.

  • 03.28.2005 2:48 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

That might be a good idea Recon. Perhaps if this post stays on the first page he will see it next time he logs in, and will be so kind as to tell us what site he moderates.

Pfft. I'd doubt that the forum you are a mod of has more than 10 people tops. Heck, with that attitude, I wouldn't expect you to be a forum mod at all.
