In the data centre, Blade sat by the bomb, laughing as the waves of Covenant walked up the stairs arrogantly. An Elite ordained in golden armour with silver t-blam!-s stood over him.

What does that blam mean?? I want to know what word that is!
I was wondering the exact same thing.

But yeah, I just read it, and, aside from a bunch of grammar errors (their instead of there, to instead of too, etc.), it was quite good. A few of the dialogue lines seem a bit cheesy, and I don't know if "Holy Crap" is enough in the stressful situations in the story, but I myself suck at dialogue when I write. However, seeing stuff like this written by normal people pushes me even further to write my own fan fiction.

Overall, great story and I look forward to reading the sequels (you did say trilogy, right?). I'm really glad I just found and read this book, and I'm confident that with a little grammar improvement, you could be a truly talented writer.

Thank you very much for reading it. I finished this nearly a year ago though (goodness, has it really been that long?) and as such, my writing skills have improved somewhat between then and now.

But thanks for reading this. I really appreciate it.

Do you have a central location for the entire fic as a book? I'd love to read the whole thing again in one big book of goodness.

"I... believe I understand, sir," John said. "But which was it on this last mission? Lives spent? Or lives wasted?"
Mendez turned back toward the blackness of space and didn't answer.

When I try to get to the PDF it says File not found. :(

I would love to see you try to read a book. You could start with this one.

On a serious note, this looks like a good read and I hope to find time to read it in between the 7 writing projects that I am working on.

My Screenshots / My Group / Remember to follow the rules or you will get trapped in a box.

Why do you people come here complaining about how it's too long to read. Please get an education and don't come to a story if you know you won't read it.

Fall of Reach actually. If you didn't know, the Spartan who killed him was John, so yeah. I'm starting to get immersed in this again, I've got a lot of ideas now.

Also, on a side note, you guys should read new fan fictions others write as well. I would never have got started if a few people hadn't posted on this when I first made it in the Halo 3 forum, so just give people the benefit of the doubt and check some other stories out.

You mean The john 117? Was this when he was like in his early twenties? When he was still training to be a spartan?

He started, but discontinued it after a couple of chapters. I believe he had issues with the plot, but at that stage he also had two other on-going fan fictions to work on (Insurrection and True Sangheili).

Memoirs II: Fight a Losing Battle.

I haven't completely abandoned it. If I pick it up again at some point when I'm less busy though, it will be re-written from the first chapter because what's there so far isn't up to my current standard. The trouble with serialised fan fiction is that one's writing level constantly improves. Even just a few months after finishing Insurrection's epilogue I look at it and shake my head at parts I know I could do better now.

But yeah, Memoirs is where I started writing and whilst not the most original thing in the world it has a special place in my heart, as do all the characters. I'll definitely continue it at some point, I think.
