Alright, I know what info. that they released concerning enemy and ally AI, but it really doesnt seem to go too far in depth does it? I for one got very aggrivated when the marines in Halo 1 killed each other more then the covenant!!! And you know its FUNNY the FIRST time a marine jumps in FRONT of your vehicle to AVOID it and ends up getting squashed but that gets very annoying.... So I know that they said marine forces work better as a team does that mean that the sniper of the group doesnt shoot everyone else off?? and does this mean that they wont jump in FRONT of oncoming traffic???
Well if any of you can answer this or direct me to a link with more info on the improved AI in Halo 2, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure the marines won'y be THAT dumb in H2, but didn't it say that you could like tell a sniper to take something out? ( weekly update ) Anyway, if there is a room that is completely empty, I think I would like to send a marine in as a guinea pig !!!!!!

The worst thing is Marines in Ghosts. I have been killed SO MANY TIMES by them it's not even funny anymore. I tend to kill the marines or the ghosts now... it's kinda sad.

Marines are soo dumb, once, I was playing "truth and reconciliation" and a grunt threw a grenade, so a stupid idiot marine, rolls sideways to escape the blast, but rolls off the side of the cliff instead!!!!

Alright, I was kinda rushed when I wrote the original post for this thread, so forgive me for neglecting some of the better arguments, and now let me take the time to rant and rave about how I was/am disappointed and amused with idiotic marine AI... And I bring this up now because I was sorely reminded when I was inspired to pop in the original halo disc and play a few levels today after reading up on halo 2 information...
Whats-erz-name brought up a good point, marines are HORRIBLE ghost pilots, they tend to be more lethal to you while in a ghost, then to the enemy, and tend to die... In "Assualt on the Control Room" you always have to make sure you toss a plasma grenade on the 2 ghosts of the canyon floor, others mr. smart-ass marine hops in it and either A) Runs your ass over -or- B) charges blindly forward then parks and stays in position while slowly firing at the enemy tank until hes destroyed...
Then on the 2nd level "Halo" I had the sniper of the group of marines hidden in the rocks shoot and kill 2 of his allys......
Also as captain obvious mentioned that seem to not check where they are jumping when trying to dodge which means they usually do something stupid like jump off a cliff or into an ally's line of fire...
Not to mention aside from all these bugs their simple "group and follow" AI was rather simple... Now I realize that the original Halo was rushed near the end so they really didnt have enough time to fix all this, but I'd be a lot more comfortable if they reassured me that if at the LEAST the marines arn't any smarter tactics-wise they at least took out bugs such as the suicide dives off cliffs...
Im really quite interested in the human forces of Halo 2 more then most I guess... I mean they give plenty of info about the Covenant and the new MC, but seem to neglect your npc allys... This is prob. due to the fact that I think most people dont care too much about that aspect of the game but I do.. One of the reasons I liked the original Halo soo much was because unlike most all FPS your not a one man army (Although it was near-that with the crappy AI for marines), it made it feel like you were part of a much bigger conflict, ya know? Well, thats enough of my ranting and raving, FOR NOW....

I quoted this for fun. Although alot of people wouldn't read such a long post, I did. And I think halo 2 will not be rushed at all, in-fact, Bungie seem to be taking as much time as they need.

Yeah the enemy AI in Halo was great, but the marines were dumber than my dog. I think they'll be able to fix that come Halo 2.
