I think you need to be careful on your terminology of a "nerd." I can guarantee there are many "halo nerds" out there that wouldn't bother you at all. I can make that claim because I'm sure I fall under many of your categories of a "halo nerd" I'm curretnly reading first strike and read Fall of Reach a while ago, because frankly it enriches the gameplay. People write theories because they are interested in the game. Is that any worse than a bunch of jocks sitting around talking about sports endlessly? People talk about when they are interested in. I use a timer, hell look at my sig, I wrote one for fun for the simply fact that hey, I like programming, I know people would like it and I only started using a timer when it seemed that almost everyone I ran into online was using one. Actually I would prefer it if in Halo 2 there are no power ups (or an option to take them off). Thats another story though. As for exploits, no I don't use them because thats taken advantages of errors in the game which is just dumb. I love lots of different games as sure 99% of these nerds you speak of do. I have a social life and a girl friend and other interests as once again many of these nerds do, you may be qutie surprised.
It sounds like your problem is simply -blam!-s, not nerds. You don't like people acting like superior jerks. But really who doesn't? It has nothing to do with being a nerd. Unfortunately you get people like these in all aspects of life. My point is try not to clump your problems into nerds, just because people have interest in the game doesn't mean they're going to be annoying and do nothing else with their life. I've mentioned the sports enthusiest example, and there are countless more, but do I really need to go on?
