I have a 80gb hard drive and i only have 15gb left WTF i mean i only have a 2gb in movie and audio folder. I have only one game which is halo. and the other normal stuff like Internet explor media player 10. The thing is when i go to documents and setting i find out that that folder takes 30gb of memory and there is different folders such as Administrator,All Users, Default User, Guest, and Owner. There is only one user on my compter. WTF why is there so much mem. in the doucuments and setting folder and is there any way i can make more space on my hardrive or anything i can do to the documents and settings folder. Should i delate any of the Administrator,All Users, Default User, Guest, and Owner folders??Thanks for any reply's

no, don't delete those folders. Defrag your harddrive, it'll give you some more space.

okay...hers what to do.............

firstly go 2:
start/ allprograms/ accesoories/ system tools/ disk clean up
now in there delet all the random crap like, tempory internet fikles, and compress old fiiles. that should get rid of a fair bit.

next:
check for adaware, alware data miners and other crap:

heres how to get of it all:
sorry if u allready no how 2, but this would helop other peps hu dont know no much:

1) DO NOT USE MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER!!!

This is basically due to the fact that because it is by Microsoft, everyone wants to hack it as it’s the most commonly used. If u don’t know where to get it from just go 2 www.google.com and type in the program name followed by download. It should generally be the 1st one.
now instead use one of the following, (don’t worry they are easy to use they just don’t get hacked as easily)
a) mozilla firefox –this is a GREAT one and has many great but simple to use features
b) opera
c) Netscape

once u have done this it is best to set it as ur default browser, it should come up the 1st time u use it.

2) GET A FIREWALL

this basically stops unwanted internet access from other locations from entering ur pc without u knowing. Chose one of the following or ur own:

a) zone labs, zone alarm (this one is free and good too, I believe that u can get good software without having to pay 4 it, but don’t get it if u haven’t heard of it b4.)
b) Norton internet security
c) Norton 2005 has practically everything

now firewall my interfere with online gaming, but after u have used the program u want, e.g. hl2 it will say allow or block, if u know what it is then allow it, if not block it. If u have any other problems with online gaming then just disable it. I doubt u will get ne adaware or hacks while gaming.

3) VIRUS SCAN

this will obviously get rid of any viruses’ although some programs don’t go into too much depth. These are the best that i have:

a) avg antivirus (this is free and gd)
b) Norton antivirus, anything from 2003 upwards id good. so long as u update regularly
c) anything else that some one has recommended.

You will only need one of the programs above. BUT remember there are other things like spyware and aware, which i will tell u how to solve. Now

4) adaware/spyware

this is practically anything that is from the net, including malware data miners Trojan horses, ect. These basically get ur info or use up ur hard disk or worse.
Download ONE of the following:

a) adaware se personal- this is free and not only scan ur basic files but ur registry. SE is the best one out there i think.
b) Search and destroy-spybot basically the same

i would recommend doing a FULL system scan the first time and a smart scan the next times. And only scan when u get pop-ups or any other things, otherwise u may delete something vital to windows, like i have learned.

6) REGISRY CLEANERS

okay, now ur registry is a very important part of the machine, if u don’t know what u are doing then don’t mess around with it, u will mess up ur OS or worse. I would only get this although there are others, but this is what I use.

a) Regclean/ regfix
this is like an adaware scan only meant to double check.

Now I hope u have read and understood the above, and I hope it helps u all and any one else with pop-ups or worms.

O and by the way, make sure u scan regularly (1 every 1-2 weeks) and only use adaware if u think u have pop-ups.

If u are not sure y ur pc is running slow, then try defragmenting it.
This is found in......
Start/ all programs/ accessories/ system tools/ disk defragmenter. This rearranges things to make programs run faster.

Now if any of the above doesn't work then just post her or pm me, I will be glad to help. But because I’m only 15 and i have coursework and stuff I may b l8 in getting back 2 u.
i hope that all helps, as it took me a long time to write,*please forgive my spelling errors I am an ass in a rush*

sorry if u couldnt be arsed to read that.
instead just do the first thing and go to documents and settings and find your temp folder.
should be:
c drive:
documents and settings
all users or ur name

(sorry in advance if that rong im using linux now so im getting confused.)

neway its all the crap u havnt heard of in ur temp folder to delete.

if my instructions are rong then go to search and type 'temp'
then go into the folder from there.

in there goes all the crap u dont need. simply delete all of the stuff in there, or the things u havnt heard of. u 'll have loads m8.

I don't think the problem is the amount of memory left, it is what happened to the rest of it.

Is it formatted to use all 80gb? You may have only formatted 60gb to your C: drive.

errrr sounds like u somehow accidently made multiple users for ur computer, that's probaly what's wrong, cause each user has his/her own settings, etc. and that can add up, to fix this problem go to "Start", then "Control Panel" then "User Accounts" then go to "change an account" to delete any accounts u dont need, however the "administrator" account will automaticlly be left there, "administrator privilages" simple means it's an account on ur comp. that allows you to modify system settings, and install/uninstall programs, in most schools students have a non-administrator profile so they can't screw with da computers but at my old elementry school i could get into the system with a screwd up log-in :)

gd point. also do u only have one partition or none? if its really bad then just format it again and install ur OS again. i mean, like u said u dont have much on it.

I think it might be the system restore things. I think they take up about a gigabyte of memory. I think you can delete all but the latest restore point on your comp somehow. Dunno where though.

Ok, first off,Obaten,

Defraging to hdd won`t free up isht,it just moves stuff to were it`s suppoused to be so as not to use up to much of your pc`s power searching for fragment of files(red the help topic and you`l get it)...no offence intended btw

Ok as for the dude with the disk space problem...
As the other dude said that you should follow all those steps...get and antivirus NOW!!!
Your pc could be infected with some crapy virus called Win32.Jeefo A or sofin like that(i had that one btw...it take all sort of files and makes them all a whole lot bigger...guess why i had my hdd full in 2 days when right before that it had 25gb empty...)

I think I have that virus on another computer, but its sucky so I haven't found the time to wipe it. Cleaning didn't work and I don't have anything important on it. It constantly complains about having no backup folders and weird messages that make no sense and I can't save anything cause its full.

I actually use Panda Online Virus Scan. It takes a while, but its free and EXTREMELY good.
