2 things that i don't/didn't like about these forums

1. I first found the bungie forums when i followed a link to one of the topics here (check my signature to see what the first topic was that i saw). Well, I used to be a ign person, but those boards got really bad. So, i read the thread, like it and the people and everything, so i tried to go to the page were the lists of threads is. I just couldn't figure out how. At ign, theres a link at the bottom of screen that allows you to go back the big page. They need somthing like this.

2. A search button. Once a thread is a few pages down, its lost, never to be found by search and rescue people.

Finally something worth my reply. I totally agree with you. There needs to be major restructuring. There needs to be a seporate forum for complaints, redundant and stupid questions, unrealistic ideas of how to "fix" and "balence" the game, a place for "kids" to brag about their "pwnage", and all the other community draining topics that plauge this forum. Unless the same Bungie team that is working on DLC and cheat fixes is in charge of this webiste Bungie SHOULD be able to spare someone to look into this.

we need user CP's where we can see the threads we are "subscribed" to. its hard to find them in this flood of a thing called forums.

Yes, I agree!

The coding for this forum, let alone this whole site is horrible.

Try switching to a php or vbullention or something!

It would also be nice if this site worked smoothly with firefox.

Something just isn't right. These categories are too broad, more organization within each forum or topic would really make these forums awsome. Oh well, thats my two cents. I have put on my flame retardent suit so by all means begin.

Good ideas guys, but impractical... people, as it is and always will be, do not follow the forum rules... posts that belong in the flood are usually not posted there first... And as for updating the Ideal Science powered boards, "Soon..." is the word being passed around the other sections of the forum... Other than that... I don't believe these boards will change much, features, content posted, or otherwise.
I agree with Recon 100%. Good post man. :)

It's funny you say the forum categories are too broad, when there is rampant posting in the wrong forums.

There needs to be Active topics section where only the most Replied To topics are in there, so i dont have to go threw loads and loads of usless stuff to get to one i really whant to go to.

What they need is a bigger emphasis on where certain posts go Maybe give a more detailed description of each forum. Even a description of what the forum shouldnt have would be good. And i dont mean making a sticky of it, because it is apparent that many of the new posters dont bother to read anything that looks like a waste of their time. Put it in BIG YELLOW words the rules of each forum right below its title. Make a special page where when you enter a certain forum, you must agree to certain terms each time, and states a list of what should and should not be in the forums. Put the more important ones in a HUGE FONT and in a bright color, and force the reader to have to scroll down to the bottom of the page in order to agree to the terms. Things like that. It may be a nuisance to some forumers having to agree each time, but it could help with preventing people from wasting space on this forum.

It might help if when you click on the link to a forum it first goes to a page with the rules and FAQ for that forum first, explaining in detail what that forum is for, then the user would have to click on another, 'continue', link to proceed to the forum. It would get tedious for those that know, but I think it might help with those who don't.

1: They already have it. That little side menu, has all the Forums on it, and you can also click on the top graphic to go back to page one of the Forum you are in.

2: The search that wont suck is now in the makes, and will be here soon....

3: There is no three, only 7.

Here, I'll move it. But I am willing to bet that even though I leave a forwarding address (the old thread in Zanzibar that says that this has been moved) that most folks will think that it's been "locked". Someone may even say that it was "locked" because we don't like "criticism".

Perhaps a change in the picture of a moved topic might make people reconsider?

Now that's a good idea.

No, it's not.

With the volume of graphics on this site, people generally go by the graphical icon over the text. So they see the "locked" icon and move on, completely unaware that the topic has been moved. Heck, I've caught myself doing it more than once.

I think a different icon for "moved" topics would help, though it may be difficult to implement. I also think that the script executed to move a topic should also insert a note at the top of the first post stating that the post was "Moved from [starting forum]" to let the new forum know where the thread came from. (This should be easier to implement.)

And the Underground should be lower on the list on both the forum main page and the navigation bar to the right... to (slightly, I admit) reduce the number of off-topic posts that land there by default. (This one's dead easy.)

-- Steve knows that there's no magic cure for the plague of off-topic posts, but there are some ways to help cope with the symptoms.

Heh, all these people claiming these forums should be changed to PHP and other free forum software out there...

It wouldn't work. THey simply don't understand the amount of traffic this site gets. PHP works fine for communities that are smaller then this, but when your site is taking up this much bandwidth, and so many queries are being executed every second, PHP is much too slow. It just doesn't work. In some ways PHP is a great language, but their query system kinda sucks, and on a site like this, that would really show through.

i dont know if anyone mentioned this above cuz i ddnt read all the posts, but iw ould like to see like something to where when you sign in, it shows what forums you have comments in. that way you can easily find them and check up on them whenever you feel like it. instead o fhaving to go page by page trying to find your forum...imma feel like an idiot if there is alreayd something like that on here, but if there isnt then they should def make it.

I think that someone suggesting that php or vBulletin is even remotely appropriate for the scale of these forums has no business commenting on the quality of this forum or the site in general. As for Firefox, I can't fix Firefox bugs - you'll have to take up their scrolling problems with certain CSS constructs with them.

Achronos you shouldnt even bother clicking on these threads, there is nothing wrong with the damn forum yall are jsut to lazy to look up old threads, if you clicked on the thread it should be gray compared to the unclicked white ones anyways. They said they are making a search feature, so just wait, geeze you wait 5 years for halo 2 but you cant wait a month for a search bar.
