I thought it would be interesting to post discriptions of the types of players and their common attitudes, there are many, so I shall start with an uncommonly known one.

"Boy Scouts" as I call them. These are the do gooders who insist on only using the pistol as it is a "skilled" weapon, shy away from using heavy weapons, and are very likely to TK you if your are spawn camping. They are often server admins and/or clan leaders.
They are also really annoying.

Any more?

can't think specifically at the moment, but i like what you've said lol. keep it up. it's oh so true and many people are scared to admit that type of stuff for being called something.(most likely, as you put it, the "Boy Scouts"

well of course then you have to include your spawn campers.. who will grab whatever heavy weapons they can and just kill you when yoou spawn. while this is effective and fun for the camper it usually isn't all that fun for the people being camped... of course I myself am sort of a boy scout in being that i use the istol mostly and the sniper rifle, or shotgun depending on if I can get the first one. Altho I do not hesitate yto use heavy weapons and gimme a tank and I will spawn camp till they all quit... even if it means tking the lil boy scouts trying to tk me... so classify that one.......................

Maniac Strife, know who the hell your talking about before you flame. or better yet, just don't flame, keep your negative comments to yourself. as far as me being a newb? lmao get serious man I could school you.

as far as giving everyone rockets, man that whole HW's only thing is fun sometimes but other times it's boring as hell. I prefer sniper only, cuz everyone still only gets the same weapons and it takes "skill" to kill someone

Heyyo,

the spammers, people who use only heavy weapons, especially with invisibility to try and get ahead of the game, and usually if confronted without their heavy weapons are pretty easy to take down.

the greifers (aka. The Grinch's), people who purposely tk for their own sick and twisted enjoyment and try to ruin everyone's game. Usually the more hardcore the tker, the worse their aim is..

the intense players, these players usually aren't fun to play with as they literally take the game as life or death. They spam and complain if killed or if "you stole their kill" or "you stole their weapon" or "if you stole their vehicle" and especially if "you stole their gf" I mean, calm down, it ain't the end of the world, lol. :p

the new recruits, people who have just bought halo recently (or just don't quite get it..) and don't quite grasp the feel of the game, and tend to do things that seem innefective, such as trying to attack you across half the map with the assault rifle, or grabig the sniper rifle and then take the banshee, or taking a hog with no gunner straight into an enemy base.

the backstabbing murphies.. only a good comic can truly describe this:

But the one type I hate the most?

The CTF glory hunters. These guys dont have the balls to play team slayer/slayer because its a lot harder to get loads of kills. Instead, they play CTF games and generally camp, not really helping the team, just trying to get as many kills as possible.

I DETEST CTF glory hunters. I would also classify them as people who noobishly wait at base and wait for a teammate to come in with the flag, and then proceed to melee from behind, steal the flag, and score themselves. I hate thos mother f***ing b***ards.

I would probably end up being one of those spell correcting morons, even though i don't use a spell/grammar checker when posting.

We then come to the Rocket noobs, who in Slayer, will go immediately for the Rocket Launcher, and use ONLY that. Dear god, they are so noobishly noobish.

There are the sniper whores (i sometimes fall into this category). They only use snipers.

You get team members, wonderful people who understand that CTF is a team game, and that the goal is to let the TEAM win, not themselves. They drive you hog, cover you exit, help blow holes in defenses, and allow you to keep the flag. I fit into this category on most/all occasions.

You have the Laggers, who slow the server down, and generally kill gameplay.

Still trying to come up with more,
Yout3

k let me think......

there's also the shee newbs, who only steal banshees, triping over each other in their attempts to get their grimy, unhygenic hands on a banshee as soon as it respawns, they generally can't fly the damn thing and resort to dive-bombing people who in turn end up sticking the shee newbs with a plasma nade (as i have done oh so many times). These people usually have gotten the Halo PC demo so firmly planted in their minds that they cannot resist the urge to use a banshee.

k then there's the campers, i think we missed these guys, campers fall under a WIDE range of dumb people who just stand next to the flag and wait for someone to come, however if u are being outnubered and/or being destroyed this "strategy" is somewhat acceptable, i have done this on occasion and i have in turn killed people doing this.

Now for the good guys:

the lone wolf, generally an awesome player with the pistol, sniper rifle, and a variety of stealth weapons (so no going around blowing up at everything with a rocket launcher) who sneaks around the map without aid of vehicles taking out the odd stragler and hog noob along the way, generally tries to preserver his/her life by not going on suicide missions which brings me to the:

suicide grenadier: no not the tactic used to kill people right before u die, but people who rush onto the enemy base without the slightest care in the world whether they will be shot, killed, bar-b-cued, hung, or decapitated, these kind of people genereally take the game lightly whereas some people take the game as life or death( U STOLE MY KILL NEWBBBBBBBB!!!!!!, lol) these suicide grenadiers genereally aren't so great players and tend to rush to get the flag in CTF games where they tend to get mauled over by a hog in the process, however some people are good, like me, i tend to go immediately through the teleporter and continue to wreak havoc on the enemy.

that's about it for now, i just hope the mods don't close down this thread for repeated use of the word newb, lol :)

I've come up with probably the most annoying type of player ever. They're kind of like the CTF glory seeker. I have dubbed them the "Slayer obessives". They're the type of people who don't follow the game rules, such as in the slayer game where you target a specific person (forgot the name). They'll kill anyone, not their target, thus ruining the game. They are also the people who kill non-oddball-holding people in games like individual Juggernaut (I think that's it. Its where the person who is it is invisible, slower, healthier etc.). I tend to get VERY frustrated with this sort of person, which, unfortunately for me, is the majority of players...

Campers aren't always bad, if they move their spots every so often, and if they're the "lone wolf" type. I am occasionally a camper, but am more often a "slightly worse at aiming/strafing" lone wolf during team, large map slayer, and during large map CTF.

A good suicide grenader can effectively wreak havoc upon a team during CTF to allow flag captures. This is a pretty good tactic if you're fast, good at strafing, and can throw nades with deadly accuracy. Typically, when I play like this, i throw frags, and use an AR to finish off the people who receive my dark vengance...

Oh, yeah, and as for that "Backstabbing (Bernahrd/Bernie?)", they are quite annoying when on your team. while i don't get overly frustrated, it does start wearing at my nerves when its the same person over, and over again in close repetition.

Attempting to get this stuff outta my system,

You for got the "I'll go AFK for 5 hours while my team, outnumbered, is masacred by the merciless opposition" type. I am somewhat of a lone wolf although its kinda hard on small maps which always seem to come up right after I join a server that showed a large map. In CTF I try to get people to work together but if you tallied the number of people who try to work together and the ones that don't, the ones that do will be <1%. Work together people!

Chewy, remember that sometimes, the AFK person is the server host. Having them quit would be a BAD thing. However, for those of you who do that and AREN'T server hosts, for lack of being able to swear, SHAME ON YOU!

I get kinda annoyed with small map CTF (excluding Hang 'em High, because that is the MOST AWESOME MAP EVER). Large map, such as ice fields and danger canyon is best.

Really, i agree with your assessment of "I won't work with you" people. It drives me nuts. But you gotta remember, CTF is butchered by the bad chat system (eg when you type, you are unable to take action).

Loving This Thread,

Yes
But I would have to say that most of the better players out there can anticipate what you're goin to do and cover/drive you. Stupid chat, there really should be voice com but nope, had to leave that out!

Ive run across these types of person about 3 times, its really annoying...

The player who does NOTHING but text looong messages. I also type long messages too, but i tend to hit enter every 4 or so words (therefore making each message short) and do so only when waiting to respawn. Some people, though, effectively block tmost of the screen by writing long messages.

The player who broadcasts all tactical data over the public chat (the T button). Gives away all info to the enemy and ruins a surprise attack or massive frontal. The (H) button is there for a reason.

I break my messages up too. It is always random though, seems like my pinky twiches and presses enter sometimes in the mid
dle of words. Those last people there, they are what I call Caboose people. Stupid and clumsy. I do belive that the (Y) button is there for a reason. the H button is for your vehicle.

Heh, how about myself? I am a sniper, specialized in sniping from a distance and putting lead into your head at close range with the pistol. I am all about Slayer games and I have little tolerance for team-killers and heavy-whores, though I'll occasionally grab a tank and just mow every f***ing player down on the map.
Though I specialize in sniping, I balance myself with the whole variety of weapons. Also, when it comes to CTF and those sorts of team games, I usually use team chat to bark out commands. While I know this may irritate some people, I'm trying to hold the team together...

EXAMPLE:
Snake, cover James with the AR. I've got blue cliff covered with the sniper. I'll hold off the blues for as long as I can, so try to make sure James gets out of there with the flag without much trouble.

So, categorize me as you wish, but I think of myself as an ideal Halo player, though I'll admit even I have my flaws.

the 'outgoing skillackers'
the people who have friends who are good at halo, and listen to them when they say "the pistol is the best weapon," but ignore the part about it requiring skill
marked by the fact that they hold the pistol, but don't move at all while firing it.

The statue: Their motto is "If you don't move, you don't die" They are the people who steal the sniper rifle and then go get killed cause they were standing still trying to get a perfect shot. They are also the people who stop as soon as they see you and start shooting.

Heh, actually Chewy, that's like the director's cut and more clear version. The game version would be...

Snake cover James with AR
I got blue cliff w/ sniper
I'll take blues, James get flag
Snake watch for flanking

Those would be seperate lines at different opportunities. Don't think I'm going to recite poetry in the heat of battle, heh. It would be nice if Halo Online supported headsets...
