I have a good computer (2.0 ghz 1 gig ram, Radeon 9700 pro) I have a DSL line. It's testing at about 900 kbs down and 650 up. When I join an online Halo game, my ping is generally around 65. Regardless of what game or server I join, it is very choppy to the point of almost being unplayable. I often get red Xs in the corner of the screen. I check my ping and it still at 65 or so. I check my line and it still at 900 kbs down and 650 kbs up.
The gameplay is awful. I would take a few step forward and then jerk forward about 50 ft. I lag off ledges. I freeze up. When the action gets heated, it is especially bad. Most others on the server are not having a problem. I have tried dozens of games and servers with exactly the same results.
I have tried adjusting the Vsync and resolution and other settings (shadows off, etc), without any noticable improvement.
Any idea why I would be having such lagging problems when my line is testing good and my ping is low? Thanks for your help.
