Well i have made the map in Gmax and when i run JMS export it doesn't work, so i use Chimp which nothing happens. I have Vista so i don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I'm pretty sure that the JMS exporter plugin only works for 3ds max. I do not believe one was created for GMax by the official developers.

Though, I'm pretty sure someone out there has developed one for GMax. Are you using the one that came bundled with HEK, or did you download one from somewhere else?

Thanks for the reply.

The JMS exporter does work for Gmax.

JMS Model Exporter for 3ds max v5.0+ and gmax 1.2

Could it be because i use vista?

Don't know yet. You could help by being more descriptive. Does GMax not recognize the plugin at all? Do you get an error of some sort when trying to export? Because "doesn't work" is a little too vague =P

I'd also like to note something. Though this was for 3ds max, not GMax, I think it may still apply. When trying to use the JMS exporter, for some reason, it didn't wanna work for 3ds max V9.0, but worked absolutely fine for V7.0, and V8.0. It was really odd, but the only solution was to settle for an older version. That may or may not be related to your problem.

I also doubt it has anything to do with your operating system. But ehh, this is the best I can come up with.

Well i am doing a basic map, i get these errosr when using the JMS exporter with GMax.

Whenever i try to use Chimp 1.6 nothing ever happens and from what i know Blitzkrieg doesn't work with Gmax.

i have followed a guide for the JMS exporter for GMax.

Start

Error 1

Error 2

Thanks for replying.

Edit: It is the 1.2 version of GMax.

Oh! I know those errors. Those are perfectly natural errors - nothing that's caused from GMax, the exporters, your OS, or whatever doing something wrong.

I haven't made maps in a long time, but I am familiar with those errors. I got them a few times when I was new to map-making. I do believe* they're caused when you try to export a map, but haven't defined an object as the "frame", with no geometry linked to it. The JMS exporter looks for that "frame" object, and uses it as a reference, then checks any geometry that's linked to it. If you haven't done that properly, it doesn't know what to actually export - it's just the way that works.

Have you tried creating an object (any old square... sphere.. or primitive. It doesn't matter), named it "frame" (it has to have that exact name), and exported geometry that was linked to it.

And have you checked out the official HEK tutorials, too?

That's all the help I really have to offer, since I haven't made maps in a while. But I'm pretty damn sure that what I said is the cause. If not, let's hope someone who more HEK experience can help =]

I have just tried that by naming it "frame", it gave a warning message saying

Warning: There was no geometry to export.

I made a box, named it frame then ran the JMS exporter script and that came up.

This obviously means that this was probably the problem. But it doesn't sound like you linked your geometry to the "frame" object yet.

You have to "link" your geometry to that frame object, or else the exporter will think there's nothing to export.

I can't remember how, since I haven't used 3ds/gmax in ages, but I'm pretty sure the HEK tutorial tells you how to link objects.

Click your map first, then link it to the frame(make sure it has a texture!).

Hope it works :)

Even if it doesn't have a texture, it should still export correctly, which is the problem in the first place >:3

But if you have the official HEK documentation/tutorial, you really should just check that out.

How do i link it?

I have read the official HEK guide tutorial thing that you posted, didn't really help me...really.

Edit: When i click select by name, geometry is ticked, when i untick it the name disappears.
