Kindly refrain from Frog-Blasting my Ventcore.

Well, I'm sure it will grow on me eventually.

Game maker in progress.....:)

GO BUNGIE!

Its ok i guess, I will miss Recon cuz its shorter but ODST does sound pretty cool. Actually having to say ODST E-V-E-R-Y time will get annoying but It'l be fine once I has RECON! Lol. I'm also happy I got to see this as one of the first hundred or so people.

This was a good move! Halo 3: Recon was too confusing with Recon Armor. It also sounded like some Tom Clancy game.

  • 11.25.2008 10:34 AM PDT

It's amazing how adequate "Halo 3: Recon" would've been as a title if it weren't for that effing armor permutation. It easily sounds better, but I'm soooo sick of those two syllables "REe-Kon", so "ODST" which I NEVER thought sounded cool sounds waaay better than "recon"

I think it sounds pretty lame....now was this a creative decision or legal issue with another game, particularly Ghost Recon?

Halo 3: Recon
Halo 3: ODST

hmm... ODST just feels boring..while Recon makes it feel more stealthy, which was the point right?

This is sorta like calling Halo 2: Master Chief and The Arbiter

You'd think something like a title would be set in stone.
Are you guys just making stuff up as you go along or what ?
*Points at Bungie and laughs.*
I'm still calling it Halo 3 : Brute Occupation.

Maybe it will grown on me, but I still would rather see Halo 3: (The) Helljumpers than Halo 3: ODST. Oh well, though I bet Game Informer is like DOH!
Halo 3: Helljumper is badass.

And ODST sounds very unappealing. That's kinda why helljumper was a prefered way to say it in the first place.

s3x on the flag

OMG this title is so much better! I <3 how it just rolls right off the tongue.

This just seems silly and unnecessary. 'Recon' was fine, easier to pronounce, and doesn't confuse anybody. "ODST? Is that some new operating system I need to run this?"

I don't see how you thought this was a good idea. It sounds horrible.

  • 11.25.2008 10:51 AM PDT

I don't like the name. I want to go back in time to when it was called HALO 3: RECON.

  • 11.25.2008 10:53 AM PDT

lol
Make up your mind already.

Halo 3: Odest

wow talk about a retarded marketing tactic. im sorry but recon sounds way better and is much more popular name in the halo 3 franchise.

i will refuse to ever call it halo 3 ODST and i will never delete the teaser vid on my box titled halo 3 RECON (what it should be called for a million and one reasons starting with thats what it was announced as)

Hmmm, I liked the Recon title, but I like this too. Guess I can't complain, but I am a little curious as to the reason for the change.

  • 11.25.2008 10:55 AM PDT

I prefered Recon. ODST sounds cool, but it's too long, while Recon just rolls off the tongue much easier.

Since Bungie has said a few times, in the Podcast at least, that this game, while anyone can enjoy it, is really being made for the hardcore Halo fan in mind. A hardcore Halo fan knows what an ODST is.
Someone who likes Halo, but is not that gung ho about it, may not know what an ODST is, but they understand the Halo 3 part of the title, and since in this game they play as an ODST they probably will need to learn what and ODST is. What better way to get the player to learn that than to make it the title?

"Go then. There are other worlds than these."

AAHHH! Change! AAAAAAAHHHH!

Ok, I'm over it.

Makes more sense anyway.

I don't want random messages (ie, Join my group, etc). I have begun blocking solicitations.

It neither sounds better nor rolls off the tongue as well.

But I guess We can refer to it now as H3:O (Or H3O, a common ion).

I realize what you're saying. It just seems unnecessary to me. Recon was easier to say, and had a sense of intrigue to it. I suppose if they're going to change the name that they do it sooner rather than later. Seems like some folks are already wondering whether the name change was a copyright issue.

Recon sounds better in my oppion, c'est la vie.
