^ It's not a "trick" it's a program...and I use it daily (Actually I use the mac version)

Here's a lazy link for the actual DOWNLOAD of the program;

Link.

www.xbconnect.com (actual website)

When you get it downloaded just follow the onscreen instructions (should be very simple) then just register your account name and password and you're ready to play.

* *Tip: If you get a dirty disc error while joining a system link it's because of the program...not the disc. To counteract this simply make a system link game before you join there's. You'll see there system link game, then press Y to make a system link game, then press A (to pick level), then press A to pick the gametype (the gametype and level dont matter at all). Once you're on the "Waiting for another box screen" just press B 3 times so you're back at the system link screen looking at the Host's game...and join!

XBL: FTG Spartan
But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting in to an infinite pattern.
Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.
Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.
I know who you are.
You are Destiny.

I downloaded xbox connect and it seems like it would be cool but I can't figure what I need to buy to get it to work. I downloaded xbc and I have Adelphia cable throughout my whole house and on two computers. What do I need to buy? Just a system link cable? And if so, where do I hook it up to my comp?

Go here and read the faq's. If you still have any questions just post em in here and I'll help you out.

XBC FAQ

Also, you'll need a ethernet hub (So you plug the cable modem into the hub, as well as the computer and the xbox) and some ethernet cables.

When you download xbconnect put your broadband main connection in a router or a switch
Then hook your computer up the router or switch and then hook your xbox up to the router or switch whatever you have. Then open xbox connect and go to options then open general options see the button that says find xbox make sure you are in the system link game type on your xbox and go to the screen that says looking for games then click the button that says find xbox when found you can start playing.

Yes hes right, You can talk to others but you need a program called skype, The pro version of Xbc integrates it so its easy to call people and it works really good, its clearer then a telephone call except that youll need a mic and speakers to listen and talk. and probably for the first month or so you play be prepared to get your ass handed to you, there are a lot of very good players.

PAL and NTSC are different specific file types for a computer, one computer uses one file type config , and the other uses the latter. in a "files for dummies" kind of thing, its like trying to connect from a PC to a Mac and vise versa.

well, if you have 2 ethernet cards, you'll actually need a specific type of ethernet cable to have an xbox to computer connection. System Link cables work great for this. the set up you want is this: Connect the system link cable from the xbox to computer, then the regular ethernet cable from computer to ethernet port. go into the control panel for your comp and then network and dial up connections. Here's the semi-tricky part. Since you have two systems hooked up, you'll also what to have to separate Local Area Connections, one for the xbox to the computer setup, and the other for the computer to ethernet port setup. once you make sure on that, right click on the xbox to computer connection and select properties, then hit the "sharing" tab, and check the line saying "enable internet connection sharing for this connection" or something. That basically means that your xbox will now be sharing the same internet connection with your computer, provided both are turned on.) after that, its all a piece of cake with the auto config from the xbc program. PM me if you have any more questions

For xbox to ethernet = crossover
From xbox to router= patch(normal cable)

big dinosaur, go join some games you just havent played enought people if you havent lost.

Just go spend 40 bucks a buy a router, makes it much eaiser,.

To play halo on your xbox all you have to do is download xbox connect and then setup the xbox to you network. The two links below will let you do both.
Download XBC Here
Setup Help Here

I don't know if the link to download xbc is working so if it ain't go to http://www.xbconnect.com/downloads.php and towards the bottom you can download the 4.1 beta or version 4.0.2.

I use setup b, it is the easiest one.
Xbox connect is a lot of fun and most of the players are really good. I thought I was good but I got owned my first few games. How can you have never lost you must not play against many people or atleast not good people.

If that don't work then go to XBC Home and trouble shoot from there.

Hope that helps you.

geez.. its just not fair...

I would soo love to play online with you guys, but as it turns out I was destined not to be able to do so.

I have a mac, and while you can download aquaduct to play on XBC, ITS ONLY FOR OSX...
...
I have os9.. stupid osX users.

btw I tried using Virtual PC running win98SE, but turns out that:
A - XBC doesnt work on win98SE.. or so I have come to understand (which woul dmake sense because I couldnt get it to work..)
B - GSA works, but its -blam!- and they have all those adds and its really really taxing on a os9 g3 mac running two operating systems...
C - Xlink.. well xlink works just dandy. I had no problems running the application whatsoever, untill I tried to actually play a game. >:( turns out that VPC cant emulate the same network stuff that PC's use.. like winPcap and such.. so damnit all that work was in vain.

does anyone happen to know if there is a tunnel service for os9? I'd be so much happier...

btw lan parties are still fun :)

 • 07.16.2004 3:41 PM PDT

A - XBC works with Windows 9x.
B - GSA isn't -blam!-.
C - Upgrade - OSX is obvioulsy miles better than OS9.

What if you have wireless? I have a laptop and I get on the internet through a wireless router. Do i just connect the laptop to the Xbox with an ethernet cable once the program is downloaded?

this is really getting annoying. If you arent sure about anything, read the xbc FAQ, or go to the help channel on xbc and ask one of the freindly people there.

OK, I have a wireless connection in my house. my modem is downstairs, along with my wireless router. my comp is upstairs, and i use a wireless NIC. Do i have to use another wired NIC, can I buy another wireless router for the connection to my xbox and just use a patch cable from the xbox to the new wireless router?

Thanks

My friend has gamespy and it lets you play non-xbox live multiplayer games over the internet. We used to play with his cousins over in Boston and we live way down near SC

Is there anything I need to worry about when using this? Are xboxs safe connecting like this over the net from getting bugged?

There are three things I can think of.
1. If you have an open ethernet port in the back of you computer you can use a crossover cable to connect you computer to your xbox.
2. You can buy an Xbox Wireless Adapter.
3. You can buy another router and hook your xbox and pc to the router.

If those don't work you can try Setup Help.

You don't have to worry about anything. The onlything that happens is a dirty disc error once in awhile but just reset your xbox and your fine.
