Rushing the timer being a cause of lag is a myth in my experience.

I'll test it later today. But ive never lagged if I dont rush the time limit. Also one drawback is if you are trying to hit a moving target with the sniper rifle you have to aim a foot ahead of where he is, the bullets move slower for some reason. Or maybe thats just me.

XBC was a great one. Although, it seemed like everyone me and my friends played 4-on-4 CTF had been playing Halo for 50 years. I switched over to the computer version recently, so I don't use XBC anymore.

I've lagged when I haven't rushed the timer and not lagged when I have rushed it. I agree with the sniper rifle - I aimed about 10m in front of someone and hit them.

nevermind found it on xbc faq

WHAT IS THE "DIRTY DISC" ERROR I KEEP GETTING WHEN I JOIN A GAME AND HOW CAN I FIX IT?

When joining a game, you might receive a Dirty Disc error. This does not mean your disc is scratched or dirty. This is a known HALO bug.

Follow These Steps To Prevent The Dirty Disc Error Before Joining A Game:
-Step 1: After Selecting your Player Profile, you will be on the "System Link Games" screen.
-Step 2: Instead of pressing the A Button to Select A Game, you will need to press the Y Button to Create A Game.
-Step 3: On the "Select Map" screen, select any map you wish and press the A Button.
-Step 4: On the "Select Gametype" Screen, select any gametype you wish and press the A Button.
-Step 5: Doing those steps will bring you to the "Waiting for another Xbox console" screen. Press the B Button 3 Times to back up to the "System Link Games" screen.
-Step 6: Select the game you wish to play and press the A Button.
-Step 7: Wait for the Host to start the game and everything will work fine.

2 questions.... i dont have a nic card but i do have an airport card (i have a mac) is there some way to make it work?

  • 08.05.2004 6:09 PM PDT

I know nothing about Macs, but it'll work if it's Ethernet-compatible. If not I'm sure that they've got some information at the site in the first post.

hey i was wondering if i could just use a normal ethernet cable (the one that came with my modem) to play online (xbox------->ethernet cable-------->pc---------->usb cable------->modem)

or do i need this crossover cable thingy?

  • 08.07.2004 2:16 PM PDT

Crossover cable for directly linking to your PC, patch cable for anything else.

but i dont really know the diferrence....they both look the same to me

  • 08.07.2004 8:51 PM PDT

Look at the ends. Patch has the wires the same way round, cross-over has the wires in opposite orders at each end.

So do ya actually need XBOX LIVE or just the downloadable program. Because I don't have XBOX LIVE (until Halo 2 hopefully) and want to play Halo with others, not just the same old people and styles.

  • 08.09.2004 4:44 PM PDT

XBL is not needed.
