It is crazy fun. 7 of my guys come over every Friday and we have a 8 player hosted game on XboxConnect. We usually get minimum lag and a great game of 16 players (if two boxes of 4 show up).

I have to say that XBC is getting better for when it comes to morons on there, they are slowly fading away therefore better games, and the lagg has seemed to die down quite abit too, I play with 4 here at my house, mind you i got t1 connection

I'm seeing a lot of questions here about crossover vs. patch cables, etc. If you need them, they can be found at Circuit City, Best Buy, and various computer stores. If you don't have one in your area, search on froogle.com. As for wireless, the XBOX connect clients seem to have problems with it.

For everyone who needs very specific connection information on XBC:
http://www.xbchelp.com/network/

For the legal issue:
Its perfectly legal to have a LAN party isn't it? This is the exact same thing, over the internet.

Halo out of the box has no online mode. However, some very clever people (I know, surprising to find them at GameSpy) figured out how to trick an Xbox into thinking that it’s on a LAN when in fact it’s over an Internet. .

actually when you do this it technically is connecting on a lan because, the boxes are connected....its just not really a "local" area network .....the xbox isnt being tricked, it just doesnt know they aren't six feet away

right, the internet is basically a HUGE router/LAN thing

wow this is fun

since this is a peer-to-peer server, isnt it a risk of a virus coming in from other computers?

Which one is free and supports dial-up? There will also be a huge chance of viruses...I DO NOT WANT POPUPS ON MY XBOX ON LIVE FROM XBC WHEN I GET IT!!!!!

Dial up users will have a hard time playing cause the lag will be so bad that they would fire their weapon and 1min + it would actually fire so i suggest if your going to play xbc u should play on someone elses connection like a friend or get a better connection your self.

and no u wont get any pop-ups on ur XBL dont worry i play halo xbc and RTCW xbc sometimes when xbox live is down for updates and i never get any pop-ups.

Well, I was highly skeptical that this xink and xbc stuff wouldn't work. But to my surprise...it worked (xlink) (after a while...) The dial-up did work...for about 4 seconds and then it quit itself. But hopefully i will be getting broadband soon so I can play it okay. And for those 4 seconds...I had played halo 1 online....................................................and it ruled........
