But the SMG was in pre xbox Halo 1 with the old Assault Rifle so it doesn't mean anything.

dont bump (mods plz leave this thread alone unless he repeatedly does it). The real world Assault Rifles are more like the Battle Rifle anyway. The first ARs in WWII were a mix of the SMGs and the single shot bolt action rifles. And then the M16 is probably the most well known and most used rifle in the modern world and guess what it fires 3 shot burst and can single fire for increased range and sniping with optional scopes so in this sense the BR is alot like the M16.
not to nit pick, but the M16 really isn't used that much outside of the United States Army, or well known. now, the AK-47, that's a nearly 40 year old assault rifle and it's every where. and the M16 can do full auto or semi auto (with, as you say, optional scopes), like the M6D pistol (bizarre, no?). the M4 does three shot bursts, and it's the M16's midget brother. However, the real world state of modern weapons and there designations hasn't much bearing in halo. so that dude who keeps using the argument the sub-machine guns and assault rifles are in a different classes can shut the hell up, because the MA5B doesn't really belong in the assault rifle class as we know it, it's actually more of a really crappy squad automatic weapon or something. Besides, the BR does the same thing as the pistol, a powerful, medium range weapon with a nice rate of fire, and the smg does the same thing as the AR.

Wow do you count Rainbow Six as a history class? The M16 is the basic rifle in most allied states such as Israel and Turkey and Mexico basically during the cold war the US supplied their weapons to allied countries and the Soviets shipped AKs to all it's allies and then when the USSR broke down the Aks were sold cheap on the black markets and that's why there so common. The M16 can only fire three shot bursts and single fire it wans't until the M16A2 that had full auto and the M4 is full auto I think your a little confused. Also you say the M16 isn't old like the AK47? it's been in use since the 50s! If you nit pick at least use reputable souces (mine was the history channel) and be right! And then you got it right by saying the MA5B doesn't fit in the AR class per se and I agree with you but the BR does.

dude, AK-47 is where more used than the M16. it's in the hands of every insurgent in Africa, the middle east, china, russia, yoo name it (exageration) besides, israel is a small country, and the ak 47 has been around since the late 40's. and you just said yourself that the AK was more common.

dude, it sounds like you're using rainbow six as a history class. m4 is not full auto, it's mearly an "accurized" version of the m16 shrunk down for fighting in city streets and buildings. (m16 was doing full auto by the 60's)

I made a blunder by saying it was the most poupular AR but it's definitly the deadliest. Also the default M16 doesn't go full auto I said it wasn't till newer versions that the M16 COULD go full auto but default it doesn't.

well, i'm going to disagree with you ONCE then drop the topic: it may be the deadlies, but the Ak is more reliable and powerful, but NOWHERE near as accurate. it is, however, alongside the new XM8 from HK, my favorite assault rifle. now, topic dropped.

The current M16 the army uses is the M16 A2 and it is not fully auto. It is burst or single fire (I watch the history channel alot) One thing I wonder is this. Why'd they get rid of the M203 like attachment on the MA5B, it would have been so fricken usefull for anti-vehicular situations.

Firt off Robert Mclees, our weapons man, loves guns. He loves guns a lot! So he is making many more, as mentioned in one weekly update a few months back. And yes it was a prototype, the damn weapons only arrived on Reach for field testing around the time the abse was hit.

Excellent, now I know were to direct my hate mail when a handheld minigun shows up in the game.

BTW, what was Mcless smoking when he came up with the concept of making a pistol more powerful than an assault rifle? Last time I checked, the M16 and M4 carbine were more powerful and accurate than the 92 or 1911.

Well sence you have made yourself look stupid. I will correct your mistake you said that they m16 and m4 carbine were stronger than two types of colts. Now what about a Desert Eagle? Thats pack a hell of a punch for a pistol and is stronger than most assualt rifles.
Pistols in some case are stronger.

Because they have 50 cal. sniper rifles that punch threw tanks now. No need for the m203. Besides it adds weight to the weapon that isn't needed. Plus it is one more thing that could go wrong.

I just hope that this is the last thread that says the "Human Pistol + Assault Rifle = Battle Rifle(Replacement of them both)" this kind of thread really bothers me because no where on the site does it say anything to that extent. The only official thing they said(as far as i know) is that the quote is "no comment" on the pistol, and it was made with an evil grin.

Also i think when we discuss the how "powerful" a weapon is that maybe we should give a definition of that word, such as how hard it hits, maybe how many combat uses it has, situations, and so forth. It would be less confusing to everyone invloved.

Ok let me say one thing... being a Canadian Reservist I know that we use our own "M16" variaint...
It's designation is "C7A2" It was manufactured originally using the design of the M16 but was soon altered in many ways. It is very useful in built up areas and vehicles, its a 5.56mm RIFLE (yes RIFLE), it has optional entachments for an Elcan C79 tactical scope (soon to upgraded to a Elcan C79A1), a laser designater, and a M203A1 grenade launcher... it has a 4-position telescoping butt and is very balance. It is fully automatic as well a semi-automatic, and has 30 round magazine
I'm assuming that your "M4" is a carbine... our carbine is designated as a "C8A1", It is always used in HTHC, as well as any close to mid range fighting. It's equipped with the same Elcan C79 tectical scope as the C7A2. It's ribbed plastic fore grip is signifoically shorter, and the raised foresight has been moved rearward on the gun barrel...

Now my whole point is that there are many variaints of the M16 or the M4 or the M203 (yes they still use them) around in the world...

Shifty

Now that thats all cleared up
