When i first played through 343 I just thought it was just another level with covenant, (i was playing co-op) and I was walking to the door where the marine was and then that movie was just another cutscene to me, so i thought, the cutscene ended and we stood in the middle of the room, we heard the hissing, then boom the door opened and my friend screamed like a girl. IT was so Freakin Hilarious!!!!

Opinions are like arseholes - everybody has one.

Knowledge is knowing Tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

There is no such thing as a bad decision, only good decisions based on flawed information.

I have to agree that the first 2 levels with the Flood are pretty scary. Not that i was bricking it or anything, just that i had heard no mention of them anywhere so it was a complete surprise! Coupled with the fact you had to learn how to defeat them all form scratch when they were coming at you left, right and centre, seemingly from nowhere. From then on i was watching my motion tracker VERY carefully!

Yeah they did a good job on 343 GS by making it scary. First time I played it I knew something was up but, man was I scared shtless when I saw Infection Forms crawling all over the place! It's really scary on legendary on 343 GS. No shotgun for most of the level...imagine your shields beeping and flashing and 5 Combat Forms chasing you down. Awesome.

It was a darm and stormy night. I was alone. The lights were out, the volume high. I had shut myself off from the world for three months so i wouldn't get any spoilers. GS 343. 'Nuff Said.

(remembers time on legendary when I had a RL with 1 round, and a SR with no ammo, trying to cross the bridge inside the big room. Three Flood. Blasted Two, had to meelee the other to death using only a RL. That was intense . . . . ).

Halo doesn't really scare me... more of surprises... maybe the Flood are frightening, but that's the initial reaction to their deformity and zombie-ness. I do get surprised when something gives me a nasty shock by popping out around a corner or falling on me...

I think the only time I was spooked out by Halo would have to be when I first discovered the Flood in 343 Guilty Spark. It seemed like something right out of a sci-fi horror movie.

First time I played the campaigns, before I knew of the hunters weak spot. On assault on the control room, in one of the rooms with hunters, I managed to blow one upwith RL, but the other one almost beat me to death. I backed out of a door at the same time as I fired a rocket. The door closed before i could see what happened. I slowly approached the door and it opened. Then I almost had a heart attack. The hunter had been killed by the rocket, but the explosion also had throwed the hunter so that it got stuck above the door, in a way that made it's torso hang down over the doors opening
That was scary

It's not really so much Halo being scary as it is being spooky. I've had a few times where my adrenaline got pumping pretty hard, and usually that's when I'm playing heroic. On normal things are a bit too easy, and on legendary you don't have time to get excited about the game- you just have to keep on shooting. Heroic really is a great balance of difficulty. I've had quite a few spooky moments on Halo, usually when I think I've wiped out all enemies in a room but it turns out there's one or two more Elites hiding somewhere, and they ambush me.

343 GS was pretty scary, but i was calm!
Library however was really scary!
Endless amount of flood appering around you and in the radar and only a few mags and shell to kill them with!

same with me PSYCHO ELITE that totally scared teh -blam- out of me ..

i thought i heard somethign ant the end of teh room so i look and see the doors open but nothing came out. so i started back to the engine room but heard something again only to turn around and see the invisable flood hurtaling through the air right at me... i droped the controler and almost pised my pants. but after like 30 seconds of him beating me up with his tentacal thingys i pulled out my shotgun and i finished him off.

now that i know to look for them i like to let them jump in the air and then shoot them down with the shotgun

As most people said, 343 GS is the scariest of all. The setting is really dark and gloomy. You walk past that Covenant dropship and you begin to wonder. Then you listen to that guy ramble about monsters. By the time the Flood appear you dont know what to expect. To me in reality it was another regular evening when I got to that part. The little ones come an I just shoot one and most of them go pop. I do not remember if I had the shotgun or not. Then they knock down the fourth door and the little Flood start coming. No big deal, same routine right. WRONG!!!! I did not see the big one till it was litterally a few feet from my visor. My thoughts rang out in the effect of the saying I use now which is, "HOLY HANNIBAL!" That was the first time in the entire game that I was just filled with fear. Not even the Hunters scared me that bad. Here I am just firing away with an AR and it takes half a clip to kill one of them.

It was not playing the game that was scary. It was crawling into bed at 4 AM that scared the bejesus outta me. My wife can be more terrifying than any flood forms.
