With the new LIVE update a few weeks ago came a wonderful new feature of LIVE. Now, every time someone joins a game, the game paused for a few seconds. In high traffic servers, such as the ones {XF} Clan runs, this destroys the gameplay.

No longer is this game fun. No longer is this game worth playing. Halo 2 has joined Halo 1 in the world or "so laggy I don't want to play it" games.

So thank you Microsoft for jacking everything up. The {XF} Clan, and everyone who plays in our servers would like to give you a big thumbs up for destroying a game we enjoyed.

I'm going to go play some Call of Duty 4 now. At least it isn't LIVE powered...

What do you mean

Halo 2 has joined Halo 1 in the world or "so laggy I don't want to play it" games

?

Halo 1 is still a popular game.

I know Halo 1 is still popular, but it's so laggy that I will not play it online.

Halo 2 has now become that way. I used to enjoy that game, but now there's no point in playing it.

how can u posibly say halo pc is not fun and way to laggy for gameplay, there are plenty of other games out there that far exceed halo in that area such as 2142. I think its your comp or connection man

My ping is low in the servers I play on, my GTX260 should be able to handle the rather old Halo 1, my 4GB of RAM should be able to handle such an old game, and my FX_60 (while an old and under-powered CPU by today's standards) should be more than enough. Since I'm a security expert from Malwarebytes, we will assume that my PC is fine as far as software.

I thought everyone who plays Halo 1 knows it's laggy as hell. Everyone in {XF} who still plays the stupid game does.

I'm used to games that don't lag all of the time. Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty World at War, formerly Halo 2, etc. I won't play a game that lags on every server. Right now Halo 2 Vista does. Even on the {XF} Clan's dual core server with 4GB of RAM, and a 100Mbps pipe.

I was going to say something along the lines of stop whining, or that no one's around to hear you anyway, but malwarebytes is pretty awesome.

  • 11.30.2008 9:38 PM PDT

On a side-note here, I'd like to point out that while Halo 1 is laggy as hell, the lag is at least consistent. You can adapt to it (like I have) >:3 Unlike "omg, I can't tell WTF I'm doing because I keep teleporting" lag =P

But ehh, H2V was always a poor, crappy port. It's just too bad there has to be a game called "Halo 2" somewhere in there =[

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

lol the "halo 2 vista is a joke" thread of the week...

I do miss my 50 bucks....

  • 12.01.2008 1:46 PM PDT

Strange. I rarely get lag in Halo 2 Vista

l play on my clan servers which are usually full, not lagging.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

I thought we all had cleared up how bad Halo 2 Vista turned out to be. Also, learn to lead in Halo 1, sonny boy, else you'll just call it another "laggy dont wana play" game as you call it.

Also, Malwarebytes? Leet. Zing! 1

When I did play Halo 2, the {XF} servers were excellent as far as getting a decent game, especially the regular weapons one. However, personally I would say that its Halo 1 that will be joining Halo 2 in the world of "So laggy I don't want to play it games." Since most Halo 1's problems have to do with the fact that its a single core game most people are trying to run on a multicore machine. Most the time though turning off decals greatly improves any those problems. ^_^

While I definitely prefer playing in The»Clan servers on Halo 1, The {XF} servers were my Halo 2 home away from home.

Giggity Giggity Goo - Quagmire

Get a better internet speed. I just upgraded to 5mb/s from 1.5, which didn't lag, but its really fast now, and no lag, unless host is laggy.

I have the same problem! The update killed the gameplay.
Phew... thought I was the only one since no one else was complaining about it in game.
Totally know what you mean it's very, very, annoying and it does kill the game completely.

If there is an solution let me know ;)

my pc is a hp pavilion elite m9340f
with 6GB of ram, intel core 2 quad processor q6700 each one with 2.66ghz, nvidia gforce 9500gs with over 500mb
This issue started to happened after the game for windows live update which was a couple of weeks ago.

I founded a solution, go download the update directly from here

http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Support/Pages/technicalI ssuesGuide.aspx

click on download the latest update, then uninstall the game for windows live software you have in the pc and install this one.
this one comes with the software" Games for windows-live" , and "Games for windows - live redistributable" make sure this two software are installed after you are done installing the update downloaded directly from the link

thanks for the help Faltzer, and also why is halo 2 vista so bad?... i know it's not better than the xb0x version but it's still fun.. at least it think so anyway

also halo 1 lags depending on your video settings (and it's also consistent, as stated earlier, lol) and halo 2 will do the same

Halo 1 is a great game as well halo 2 vista.
just join server with low ping and you will have a great time with it. And for the haters of halo 2 vista, no one forced a gun in front of your face to make you to buy the game. Its was your own decision, dealt with it

So nobody can say anything bad about it because they weren't forced to buy it?

Right. They probably paid for it expecting it to be good anyway.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I expected it to be awesome. It would have been if 1) more people played, and 2) the mouse control actually worked decently on my rig.

Wish Halo 3 PC would come out sooner... :(

Pretty soon this game is gonna be SAVED! :D
Also Co-op is gonna be made.
Automatic Zombies/Infection is gonna be done.
A Version of Forge is gonna be made.
Also More/Custom Assets will be made available.

Microsoft really loves to ruin games. Modders will pick up the pieces :)
