Subject: Dear Microsoft: Thank For Destroying Halo 2

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Pretty soon this game is gonna be SAVED! :D
Also Co-op is gonna be made.
Automatic Zombies/Infection is gonna be done.
A Version of Forge is gonna be made.
Also More/Custom Assets will be made available.

Microsoft really loves to ruin games. Modders will pick up the pieces :)

Press CTRL F12 for your Fps counter - keep this on while playing with nvidia cards if you got problems with lag, there is a known GFX issue that causes massive FPS spikes with products from nvidia - not sure their later cards have delt with this issue yet - not read up on those.

On GTS 88000 320 it was solved by staying with the 158.18 driver which somehow solved the issue with lowered settings, tried two later WHQL versions with high/low/min settings, before i realised it was something in that forceware or driver that made it work.

How to uninstall on Vista.
I don't see a clear GFWL uninstall button in the Programs and Features (Install/Unistall)

If a tree falls in the woods...
... nobody's gonna hear it, because Halo 2 Vista isn't open source.

I swear, the source code for this game needs to be exposed. This is never, ever gonna happen. But damn...

Well, the rule for every game is that, if anything is loaded externally (maps, images, configurations, data files), it can be modded. The only factor is time and effort.

I also guarantee, that if Halo PC was highly protected with encryption on it's maps, or there was some anti-mod check. It would be dead, right now. What I'm saying is that modding keeps the game alive for many years. What's sad is that the companies never ever (or rarely) release the valuable source code (to modding/customization organizations) so they can mod it a little further.

True, some will mod for good, and some for bad, but at least release it some time before the games lifespan is completely diminished.

But you must see, there's a difference between content modding (IE, .map files, config files), and hacking a game; changing its source code.

It'd be impossible to make Halo 2 Vista have co-op just by changing the map files, or some config settings. You would need to modify the code to do that. And without H2V's source code, that's next to impossible.

This is why Half-Life 2 has so many awesome mods: Valve made the choice to make Half-Life 2 open source (though, I have to point out that the Source Engine is closed-source.. but still, <33333333333), and anybody could manipulate it to their whims.

I think Bungie ruined halo 2's online play with tweaked damages and then microsoft destroyed halo 2 after they thought it was a good idea to port it.

Last time I checked, Halo 2 was Halo 2, not Halo 1.

Halo 2 Co-op
Can be 16 Players cause there is no limit for anything.

In the above video, it looks like it was mostly just switching places from AI Actors to players.

But I have to admit, that's pretty damn impressive for only content modding.

It was the whole Campaign running, as normal, just there are some bugs.

Cinematics don't work, hence why they start the mission immediately.
AI animations don't Sync.
Dialogue/Speech/Music don't Sync.
Most Scripts don't Sync.
The Co-op respawning system needs to be enabled.
Skulls don't work.
BSP Changing is OK 50% of the time.

M$/Bungie or whoever needs to make H2V Open Source.
Or give us some tools that can make better maps, co-op, Zombies etc.

Now, this would be my wet dream. That's just never going to happen =\

lol, I'm pretty sure the Modders could manage without the source code. But Source Code would speed up progress.

Unless they can read/code x86 assembly machine code just as easily as a high-level language like C/C++ with comments and debug symbols, then I don't think anything's really going to happen without it.

You can only get so far with this approach.
