If I had to make it I would give the project to Bungie so they could do it right.

He should go get counseling and realize -blam!- fantasies of master chief is wrong
He then should get his head gear removed
After that he should actually attempt to go out on a date instead of with his dog ( because that's the closest thing to a brute and gee - what did he do with a brute? talked about it dirtily. And thaaat's disgusting )
Then he should realize the minor attention he's getting means that we are the only ones who talk to him


That'll make him cry.

Well the one single thing i would put in the game is probabley the most overlooked by most gamers. The small little details. Such as continuity in running/strafing movement, aiming, etc.

If you've ever noticed in halo multiplayer there are a large ammount of inconsistancies. When aiming for example if you point your gun directly at another players head, on their sceen the gun doesn't appear to be aimed anywhere near the persons head. Where you normally have to aim above and to the side of someone's head to get the barrel right in the middle of thier screen. Fixing that would make close range fights much more dynamic.

Speaking of strafing, watching another MC run around in multiplayer is very weird looking. I believe i've read that bungie was making more realistic speed ramping animations so that from a stand still to a full sprint MC looks like he's walking more realistically, but there's always more too it than that. Quickly strafing between left and right MC looks like a total doofus and when you combine strafing with a forward or backward movement it gets even worse.

Finally i'd like to visually show what weapons a person has equipped, not just the ones they are using. And also cater to the usefull glitches that many pros have discovered in halo and to make those glitches actually techniques in halo2 ripe with brand new animations of their own.

Crouch landing - after a long drop and crouching at the right designated moment in which you hit the ground, i think it would be nice if the character model crouched and braced the landing with an arm or both hands.

Backpack reloading - double tapping reload and then switching weapons allows you to reload a weapon while firing another. However a big inconsistancey happens when you do this in halo1. As you're visually reloading the ex: rocket launcher while firing the ex:pistol. which not only looks very weird but coupled with a grenade toss you're wondering when exactly master cheif grew that third arm of his to do all of these things :P Instead, since i would have shown the backpack weapon visually, he could simpley reload the weapon with his left hand while he is firing the one or two handed weapon with his right hand but at the same time for the brief reload animation time you would be without your melee and grenade actions. It would also show off MC's style and finesse shooting a two handed weapon with one hand. And since it would only be in rare clutch moments no gameplay sacrifices would need to be made for the sake of continuity.

Finally the double / continuous jump glitch. which allows you to jump for a high platform and make a quick second jump without having to stop, back up, and run forward again for the extra distance. This is done by jumping, the crouching mid-air to get your legs up just a bit higher, letting go of crouch gets you a little more air, and tapping jump while letting go of crouch allows you to jump a further distance after already making it up to the higher platform.
Once again MC could use his left hand to brace and help him up to the higher platform, and by letting go of crouch and hitting jump again, MC would visually make an additional thrust with his arm and legs to jump again after just landing. Sacrificing grenade and melee for the tiny instance where MC is using his left hand to get on top of a platform or make that extra distance on the long jump.

Like i said it's the little things that matter most.

um mr creep, im pretty sure ive seen the mc 'crouch' when landing a big fall etc,have u ever notice that u cant move when u land, just for a moment, this is because he does 'crouch' as for the other stuff, long but well thought out congrats ;)

Oh i'm well aware mc crouches if you hit the crouch button as you hit the ground, infact i'm pretty sure he crouches so long as you survive the landing, even if you dont crouch land, it's forces him into the state and stalls him. But what i was suggesting is that there is an animation when you do it right at the right moment, where MC braces him self with a free arm and it allows you to keep moving seemlessly between the fall and the walk.

ohhhh i dunno, u try falling off a cliff and just walking away.... but yet again, we cant flip tanks with our bare hands :P nice ideas though!!! but like weapons? i've seen like this new covenant rifle thingy, and it liiks awesome, i forget wat it was called... yteah but would u put all the same weapons as halo 1 back into halo 2? or what vehicles would u love to use in halo? a covenant tank would be cool!

the purple one with the long oddly shaped barrle is the covenant carbine a hybrid two handed rifle . It certainly looks interesting, but that's not already in the game, so i suppose there's no point in going off topic talking about it.

thats the one... a carbine.... well i made this topic... talk about whateva the hell u want! hey u could sya that the mc should be a vegetarian and argue that for all i care, but i would still like to know wat ppl think would be cool to have in halo 2, like maybe some new types of skill...i heard u can be stealthy, but wat about something that i heard a while ago about like flipping tables etc to use them for cover??

Well god, there are a ton of things that not only am i intrigued with but i'm sure the rest of the regular forum goers are too. The new behaviors of the elites, hunter, brutes, and profits, the flood. I remember the article about flipping tabels but IIRC that was in the 2k2 article of egm and they said that in regaurd to the marines new AI reacting based on situations that would occur randomly. New AI behavior that acted in an unscripted way, a reactive way. The sad thing is, you can show a hundred videos of marines doing cool things and not know if it was scripted or not :P But i certainly hate to put stock in a 2 year old article as i remember hearing something recent about bungie not too sure about the inclusion of melee combos for balancing purposes. Something that was believed to be confirmed since almost the first time we've heard about halo2.

But really the AI is really what i'm most intrested to learn about. We know there's over 1500 lines of combat dialouge for the marines and enemies some of which are difficulty level dynamic. Meaning marines will be saying different things based on the diffculty level you're playing on, as well as the given situations that they are in. The marines supposively will make or find cover, be inspired to fight along side of a true spartan, react to situations like if they are being picked off by a sniper that they would call in another team to flank the sniper or take him out. If the marines are that smart, in their own right it will be amazing to see what the covenant will be able to do when fighting you.

Land mines, Custom soundtrack option in multiplayer, a lovely crunching sound when you run over enemies in a vehicle, and the ability to give commands to marines.

Halo 1 was too easy, The only level i had trouble with was Library on Legendary. If i could make halo 2, Id have Harder Levels (no library), Recoil on the Duel-SMG's, and Bigger, and more multiplayer maps! Halo 1 lacked multiplayer vehicle maps, Sidewinder, is the only good map. Bloodgultch isnt bad. Im looking forward to Zanzibar, and Lockout, Waterworks.etc
