Ok in the new magazine articles there have been a couple of hints to what we're gonna be facing in halo 2. It was said in a mag and then on B.net, Jackal Snipers! Think of how annoying they could be, the first time we play halo 2 they'll be killing us every second.
And in a mag they said that bungie were workin on a covenant that has the power to flip a car? That sounds like a Hunter being made into a badass. But think. If a hunter were to have a plasma rifle they'd be impossible to kill.

enemy snipers is something that will indeed be a pain, much like the flood with rocket launchers were in halo1. Being as terrible shots as they were with a pistol, or an AR they seemed to be able to make incredible lead shots with the RL. But with all the talk about new AI in halo2. I think hunters are going to be much more intresting to fight in halo2.

I mean hunter AI was bad in halo1. It basically consisted of shoot fuel rod gun if they're out of melee range, and melee if they're too close to hit with the fuel rod gun. Once you got close enough you could strafe around them endlessly and they would do nothing but pivot their bodies so you couldn't get behind them. If you stood in front of them briefly they would lunch with a strong melee attack. step the left before the melee strike right as the let out a grunt as they attacked and you could approach their weak spot and take an easy shot at them.

I'd really love to see the hunter as an enemy that would simpley stand it's ground to a rapidly approaching warthog and just effortlessly flip it with it's massive shield. I really think we'll have a much different experience fighting the brothers in halo2.

I said earlier I'd like to see counter sniping in Halo2 as the Halo sniping experience was danger free! The inclusion of counter sniping will seperate the men from the boys and make sniping more tactical!
Also I think its the Prophet that is going to be able to flip the Hog! ;)
But seriously I hope Hunters get a massive upgrade because they were too easy, you dont even have to sidestep them, you just wait for their shield to go up and pop em with the pistol in the belly!

It's a waste of ammo to shoot hunters. Yesterday when I was playing assault on the control room on legendary, and came to the hunter room béfore the last bridge, I only had 2 ar bullets left and 1 sniper round. To make it more even, I shot all my ammo on one of the hunters shield, then I beat them to death with my sniper rifle

I'm beginning to think more and more that the enemy that will be able to flip a warthog is a Flood-infected Hunter. How fun would THAT be? Especially two at once? That means no weak spots AND the armor to contend with, not to mention the AI going all-out, just like other Flood Warrior forms.

Sounds like fun to me....

As far as hunters working along side of jackels, if you want to go into the books continuity. The hunters have little to no respect for jackels or grunts, as they would walk right on top of them crushing them alive under thier lumbering feet for even crossing their path. Hunters have one of the most intresting dynamics of any of the halo enemies as far as they've been developed both in books and in game. So to see a pair of them with buffed up AI covering each others backs in a more in depth way. I at least think they'll be much more intresting to fight against come this november.

As far as the bungie weekly update talking about the creature strong enough to flip a warthog, i honestly don't think we've seen enough of the brutes AI to make a solid judgement that it would be them. But just speaking purley objectively here's my opinion.

Grunts = not flipping a hog
jackels = they're too busy cowering behind their shield.
Elites = they're about as strong as MC so if he can't flip a hog with a melee attack i can't honestly see one of these bad boys doing it either. As far as previous media suggests they'll act more reptillian and archinid like in the game, than the old "oh i'm getting shot, i'll move behind this rock and wait for my shield to recharge mentality" Can't wait to fight em, but don't see em flipping hogs.
Prophets = they're weak and frail, unless they have some telekentic abilities to do it, but even in that case i don't really expect to be seeing these guys sitting around anywhere than a large installation on a covenant world, or abord a covenant cruiser.
Brutes = these guys seem like they'll be strong, but based on the limited movement we've seen in the e3 2003 campaigne vid they seem more prone to lunging around and punching people.
Hunter = if any known race in the covenant is closer to a brick wall it hasn't been mentioned yet. I see these guys standing their ground and decimating anything that comes in proximity of them. I think it would be foolish to assume that they will react with the same insanley easy to overcome intelliegence that they did in halo1.

so my judgement is that it's either a hunter or an unknown species not yet seen in the previous halo game and not yet announced. As you know there has been absolutely no videos showing off the new elite or hunter AI, which i am very glad for, because it gives me much more to look forward to in november.

prophets are frauds. they dont have powers, but we cant really tell without the proper cultural or historic references.

the only onei can see now flippin a hog is a hunter with its shield.

but then again there IS that new alien that theyve been talkin about...

One thing that would be cool is if you were in a hog travling fast heading straight for a hunter and the hunter put his shield into the ground and you ramped off of it.

Also will we actually be able to see a covenant or human turn into a flood form? In H1 you would just see the covie die from flood you never actually see the little guys turn a human or covie into flood.
