If there isn’t room, make room.
First rule: No man will move away from his assigned group on his own. Every man needs to pull his own end. Stick to your group.
ODSTs are ruthless and brutal to begin with, so ordering a pack of them to ignore the grunts and go for higher ground might cause some stir-ups considering the fact they’re always looking for a fight…however the opportunity to fry some bigger fish should satisfy their needs…
Leaving a few behind who are better at close-range combat to stay behind and rush the grunts is an excellent idea and will probably be the most used idea since Grunts are basically walking dead now…however the concentration on the grunts should be limited to a few pistol shots and a plasma grenade or two...they have the tendency to flock back to their herd once stuck, so they’re doing you a favor. Leave a sixth of the Banshees behind and once the Grunts are taken care of have them set up for another wave with several gunners onboard, having them rotate positions to aim for the top…
<Amidst the Grunt slaughter>
With the close range attack from below, another sixth of the Banshee division will maneuver their way to the top, snipers ready from an alternate, secluded position in the docking bay. They will serve by running down and shooting the jackals…the ODSTs will probably get a kick out of running them over, brutality is in their favor. If any straggling jackals are left, the snipers will take care of them.
<Engage Part 2 of Close Combat>
Elites.
After the Hunters arrive later, these fellas will be the least of my worries. 12 Banshees are already occupied, one below, one on top. Use these 12 to mow down the elites and have Assault Rifles brought out by the ground troops to spray the Grunts.
<Release the Hunters>
This is where I figure some of my men will start to fall. Rest their souls. They have served well.
The Hunters will probably put the Invisible Elites in front of them to use as hum-*rethinks* Alien shields. A quick line of Assault Rifle spray ought to make their natural colors bleed through while their invisibility skills wear off, allowing Plasma Grenades to take over the Elites.
Now for the Hunters.
With 12 Banshees attacking from above and below, the Hunters should stay distracted while 3 Rocket Bearing soldiers, who moved out with the snipers, spread out into triangle formation and attack them from above with their…semi-scoping abilities with their Launchers. Hopefully this will save some time, as cheap as it may be, anything to get the job done.
Snipers will finally commence into battle while the Jackals and Elites reappear on the upper level and attempt to pick us off. Our position may be discovered, which is why I’ve decided to play dirty and have the enemy distracted by the snipers as a band of jumpers come from behind and melee the crap out of whoever is standing.
<The Last of the Hunters>
Many of my men will be exhausted by now, but knowing my ODST troops, they will not show it. They’d rather go down, guns firing then tired and weak.
Four Hunters and a little more than 3/4ths of my men left standing (including the injured).
Show them why you were trained to jump feet first into Hell.
Use the remaining of the Banshees in a hit and run style. Fly them towards the hunters as our Rocket launchers pepper from above aim for their weapons, hopefully disabling them for the moment while those who are driving ram into, over, and away from them, sticking Plasmas, planting a frag or two at their feet. The snipers will take aim for the desired orange flesh on their bodies, shooting them senseless as the final seconds tick away before the Plasmas ignite. Final rounds of rocket launchers will be fired towards the Hunters to finish off any struggling creatures.
<Melting Gold>
Your Covenant ship is practically ours. We show no mercy as 5 of my best men professionally enter your perimeter, surrounding you. Each equipped with a close combat weapon of choice and several grenades. Your sword is no match as you attempt to swing them down. They were trained to destroy the likes of you. Evasive maneuvers are taken to hold you off guard while 2 fire from behind. Naturally you’ll turn to face them, leaving your back exposed for some plasma slapping. All was well aboard before you let your guard down. A few shots to the face helped ignore the hot blue sparks on your back before you combusted, drenching the bodies of my men in your blood.
Congratulations…it’s over.
FINAL REPORT == <<Estimated Loss: 85-100 men, Wounded: 50-75, Honored in My Eyes: Every damn one>>
