I'm a writer, and I decided to write a story about the Halo universe. I started it like it's after the book First strike book so it's not exactly in chronological sense. Here you go:

Chapter 1: Impressions

2330 hours, September 13 2553 (Military Calendar)
Aboard UNSC Battleship Daunting Adventurer orbiting around planet Reach.

"Lets finish scanning those remnants, over there, and we'll call it a day," said Captain Washington to his Junior Officers.

"Aye, sir," said Lieutenant Elliott Naxos sleepily, yawning widely and scratching his head. Man had it been a long voyage. Elliott thought back to all of the close encounters that he and the other officers had gotten the Daunting Adventurer out of. As he thought about each of his friends on the deck, he spied Lt. Heather Thorne out of the corner of his eye. And oh was she beautiful. Elliott’s head was now cocked a little to the side so he could focus more deeply on the beauty of his fellow officer. There she was, exhausted and looking pretty good. As she leaned back in her chair and stretched out her arms and legs, she caught Elliott’s eyes. He whipped his head around so fast, it almost gave him whiplash. But, he couldn’t help but peer out of the corner of his eye again. Her gorgeous blonde hair was tied in a knot on her head, and there was something about her that really reminded him of-

"Sir, I'm picking up something," blurted Lt. Tealsyn, another officer on the bridge.

"Ok then, what is it then Lieutenant?" the Captain said, startled by the young lieutenant’s panicked tone. Oh no, nothing now. Not now...

"It’s nothing, sir, just a far away ship. I can't tell if it’s a friend or foe. Probably one of ours, sir." said Lt. Tealsyn, relieved. He probably just made the captain furious at him for the false alarm.

"Forget about it, it's not in our sector anyway." the Captain shrugged off the interruption and started to doze off again. Lt. Tealsyn looked at Lt. Thorne nervously and she gave him a friendly pat on the back.

Lt. Anthony Tealsyn was a sleez-bag, to put it nicely. He was an inexperienced lieutenant who had a knack for messing up virtually everything. He also had a very colorful history. Born and raised on the rebel colony of Undul 7, a planet notorious for war, he had participated in the gruesome Undul Rebellion a year before he was accepted into the Naval Academy. There he graduated at the top of his class, which was not something to be proud of because he had basically done nothing at all. Elliott had graduated a year before, and had been the victim of Tealsyn’s jokes and pranks. But that stopped after he and Tealsyn got into a fight. Or more like a brawl. That’s when Tealsyn started to respect Elliott. Respect out of intimidation.

Elliott was also not very fond of Captain Washington. He was rude, lazy, very old, thought he knew everything, and the leader of this mission. The mission to find a lost SPARTAN.

Elliott had heard of the SPARTANS before, the higher ranking officers talked about them often, saying that they had defeated the Covenant, saved Earth, and destroyed the Ark. But he was particularly fond of a particular SPARTAN. SPARTAN-087, Kelly was her name.

It was almost a year since he had met Kelly. He had only been out of the Naval Academy for two weeks when he was invited on the Pillar of Autumn by his uncle, Captain Keyes. While he was on the bridge watching his beloved uncle at work, a SPARTAN was ordered to be debriefed on a new mission. This SPARTAN went by the rank of Master Chief. He looked more solid than granite, more agile than a cheetah, and far better at being a warrior than any soldier he had ever met. Elliott’s focus was so taken by this massive man, he couldn’t even comprehend the orders his uncle was giving. Then, as if he was reading his mind, Uncle Keyes invited Elliott down to debrief the other SPARTANS in their barracks. As he entered the quarters, Elliott was amazed beyond belief to see that there were others like the Master Chief. That was the moment when he saw the most beautiful person in entire his life. She was perfect. Making in quick and precise movements, she deliberately expanded and contracted every muscle in her body. She had dyed blue hair, which was tied in a knot on her head, and crystal blue eyes that, after meeting Elliott’s hazel green ones, made time seem to stop. They both knew that this was love.

From that moment on, they had tried to be together as often as they could. Elliott was stationed on the planet Reach for the longest time during the war, and, fortunately, that was where the UNSC was keeping the SPARTANS. After Reach was saved, they had some trouble seeing each other. While Kelly was off fighting on the ground, he was off in space on some mission somewhere. However, they were able to keep in contact with each other. Well, until about a year ago. That’s when Xavier, a SPARTAN and one of Elliott’s good friends, sent Elliott a message while he was stationed on the carrier Teddington. The message said that Kelly had gone missing.

So, here Elliott was: A volunteer on the Daunting Adventurer, a battleship ordered to find all of the SPARTANS lost in space. This mission was now the most important thing in his life. He had to find his beloved Kelly.

Here's the next installment:

Chapter 2: Flashback

0200 hours, September 14 2553 (Military Calendar)
Aboard UNSC Battleship Daunting Adventurer orbiting around planet Reach.

"Elliott, I want you to know something."

"What is it, honey?"

"I want you to know that I love you and not even a war can tear us apart."

"I love you to, Kelly. And thank you."

It was the same dream he had every night. The one about the last day he and Kelly had been together.

"Are you up yet, sleepy head?" Lt. Thorne said as she poked her head through the doorway. She was always overly nice in the morning. Usually Elliott wasn’t much of a morning person, but today he needed someone to be nice to him. Even if it was a little too strong.

"Yeah, I'm up." Elliott yawned as he reluctantly got out of his cot. He lumbered over to the wash room to clean his teeth, wash his face, and let the day sink into his brain. Man, I wish Kelly were here right now, he thought as he ran his fingers through his short, brown hair. He then turned the knob of the shower and plunged himself into the luke-warm water, which was far from satisfying, and managed to really wake from his daze.

As he was putting on his light grey jumpsuit, Lt. Tealsyn entered the washroom. Elliott sleepily wished him a good morning, not really expecting the lieutenant to give him a response.

"Oh, hey Elliott," He mumbled. He looked as if he were about to cry.

"What's wrong?” asked Elliott, somewhat surprised.

"Well, I know you’re on this mission because you want to find this SPARTAN-87 person, but, no offense man, I could care less about this mission… or whoever 87 is."

Ouch, this hit Elliott hard, but he could understand the pressure that Tealsyn was under. He was being evaluated by Captain Washington. All captains were required to evaluate each of their officers individually. And, it was Tealsyn's turn. Mind you, this mission they were on had not been easy. Just 2 days ago they had encountered a fleet of rebel ships around the Theta Mu system, and Lt. Tealsyn had failed to spot them before the Captain. The lieutenant was in charge of tracking and locating enemy ships, debris, and other things in space. He should have spotted them from a few light-years away. So, because of that, he was already in a bad position. "I can understand your feelings, man, but let’s not say that number unless instructed, ok?"

"Alright," Tealsyn said, obviously sorry. "We'd better get up to the bridge. Captain wants us as soon as possible."

"Ok, I’ll meet you up there." Elliott said as he ran to the bridge. Being nice to Tealsyn wasn’t that bad. For now.

On the bridge, Captain Washington was talking to the Daunting Adventurer’s artificial intelligence, Orcus. Orcus was what officers called a 'smart AI', meaning that he wasn't made to do just one task, he was like a human. This thought kind of disturbed Elliott, but he just pushed it out of his mind. "Lt. Naxos reporting for duty, sir." Elliott reported as he entered the bridge.

"Ah, yes. Lieutenant I want you to look at this."

Elliott walked up to the Captain's computer. There was a message on it.

"Read it, son, it's for you," he said, grimly.

Elliott read the message.

Dear Elliott,
I regret to tell you that something terrible has happened. It seems that while stationed on the Ascendant Justice, we lost SPARTANS-569, -310, and -087. Dr. Halsey has also gone missing, and we suspect she has taken SPARTAN-087 off of the Ascendant Justice. We will do whatever we can to find her.
I am sure you are devastated at the loss, as are we. Kelly is very important to us and to you.
We will find her.

Sincerely,
Master Chief, SPARTAN-117

Elliott quickly wiped a tear from his eye, he looked over to his right and saw that the Captain was no longer beside him, and was now fiddling with the radar system. Lt. Tealsyn and Lt. Thorne were now both on the bridge, sitting at their stations. The Captain pulled away from the radar and saw that Elliott was done reading. "I'm sorry, son. I got this message about 10 minutes ago. I see that it was sent almost a year ago." He gave Elliott a semi-sympathetic smile and quickly went back to the radar. "I have scheduled an appointment with the Master Chief as soon as we get back." He said, not even looking up at Elliott.

"We will be arriving on Reach in 15 minutes, sir." Orcus said in his deep, monster-like voice. The AI’s chosen form was an interesting one: a single, pale white skull with 2 ‘bullet holes’ on its cranium. Elliott couldn’t help but stare at Orcus floating there. Weird.

"Thank you Orcus," the Captain said, breaking Elliott away from his gaze. "So, as soon as we hit the ground, you're off to see Chief, ok son."

"Yes, thank you very much sir." Elliott said as he sat down at his station. He went through his daily checklist: Weapons were offline? Check. MAC guns chilled? Check. Almost home? Check. All was well, but he couldn't help to think about what the Chief would have to say in their meeting.
