Subject: Halo 2 not working.....

Halo 2 refuses to connect. It gives me "Could not connect to Xbox Live" and tells me to start the trouble shooter, which then tells me I'm connected to Xbox Live. This all began happening when MS forced me to change my name.

It seems I'm not the only one with the problem though. It seems all newer gamertags are unable to connect to Halo 2 online. And yes, I deleted all my save data to try and start fresh, same message. I even recovered my Gamertag on the old Xbox and no luck.

Check here for more info. When you got rid of everything did you clear the cache on your hard drive also? If you have already got rid of and reinstalled your stuff this is all I can offer. Hopefully it helps, otherwise your last option is to call Microsoft and see if they can help you.

Thanks for trying to help, but obviously I don't need the backwards compatible update, since the game runs fine. It's an issue with XBL.

Like I said, all that happened was I was forced to change my name, and now I can't play Halo 2 at all. And how do you clear the cache on your 360 since the new update?

This is how to clear the cache. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Select Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device options screen. On the Xbox 360 Controller, press the X button, press the X button again, press the left bumper, press the right bumper, press the X button, and then press the X button again. You will be prompted to confirm system maintenance. Select Yes by pressing A.

If the problem is with XBL you may have to call xbox support for more help.
