So I ordered Halo 2 from amazon last week and it should have been in two days ago, but someone screwed up and it won't be here for another two days.

Once they shut off the servers, does anyone know if you can still dl the the xbl updates and maps?

If not, could I LAN with friends without them?

How do the map pack + updates disc work? Are they a one and done deal, or could they be bought / borrowed to apply those updates?

Bringing coherent and well-thought-out replies to the Bungie forums since... a while.

Quick question, it's 7pm GMT here (in good ol' England), April 14th. Does this count as playing Halo 2 on the 14th, so I get this little visual flair in Reach? Or do I need to play at stupid o' clock tomorrow morning or something?

My Halo 2 won't let me log-in to Xbox live. After signing into my profile, I go to the selection screen where it has you select the Xbox live profile you would like to use. The screen doesn't show my current Xbox live account with membership, but instead shows a ton of outdated one months that I've previously used. Is there any way to select my current account or work around this problem?

Thanks.

Futue te ipsum!

OMG, I can't get to the sign in screen in Halo 2... WTF?

I'm online from my 360 dashboard and Halo 2 loads fine. It's just bypassing the LIVE screen?

HELP ME PLEASE

Stand back, I tend to spew my own mental garbage at people. And it tends to stink, leaves bitter tastes, and is flammable.

Ok this is retarded.

I cleared everything, maps, game data, cleared my Cache. I'm signed onto XBox Live, I load up Halo 2. I create a profile, and it says there are no XBox Live gamertags to use. So now have to restart my router, start retrieving my account that is already on my XBox, restart my router AGAIN halfway through. Then restart Halo 2, and I get this retarded error. It disconnects me from XBox Live and says I need an update, then it says it can't download this update because it isn't connected to XBox Live. So I got rid of everything again, made a profile, used my multiplayer disc to update everything, installed the update it asked for when I booted Halo 2. Then as signing in to play a game it said I needed another update, It booted me to what looked to be an official XBox menu, and it failed. Now I can't sign into XBox Live while on Halo 2 again.

THANK YOU! this helped me get back online with my precious halo 2 ;')

  • 04.14.2010 4:05 PM PDT

ahhhhh ive tried everything cleared and reinstalled all the maps a total of 4 TIMES wasted all afternoon trying to play the farthest i get is where it start searching but as soon as i find a match it says failed to load content. moreover even when i go to custom games it says failed to load content. i know my internet is working fine halo 3 plays fine, and i was playing halo 2 online just a few weeks ago. there are two conclusions i have come up with:+

1. my disc got scratched up it doesnt look much worse then a couple weeks ago when it was working fine but you never know i guess

2. my xbox got the RROD and i just got a replacement console today maybe there is something wrong with that new console.

depressing day. . .

There is only one logical explanation for this. HAX!

Internet Points: 4

I need help before it goes offline... For a few months everytime i try to play matchmaking, like 10 seconds into the game it loses connection and says to start trouble shooter. Custom games with poeple work fine. and all my other games are perfect online...

Lol all my friends laughed at me when I bought the multiplayer map pack disk when it came out. I will have the maps forever now =] well besides Tombstone and Desolation, but I didn't like those two.

how do i redownload the maps? i cant find them...

The maps are found in the game itself, not on the marketplace. Go to the xbox live section and select content download.

There will not be any DLC or updates once the service is shut off. You should still be able to play with friends on LAN and splitscreen without any problems.

My guess would be that as long as you play it between 12am PST on the 14th, and 12am PST on the 15th, you should have a shot at getting the Reach stuff.

Delete all the accounts on your console that you aren't using. I think you have to have 4 or less on your console for them to all show up when you play Halo 2.

The problem is that your using the disc to put the maps onto your console. You have to download all of them if you want that final update. It has something to do with the last update that came out after they released the final 2 maps.

Make sure that once you clear the maps you also clear the cache. If you don't clear the cache your content will fail to load since the cache is what seems to corrupt the data on the hard drive.

This seems like something you will have to call support for. If everything is working fine, you have all the maps and you can play other games online it sounds like something on Microsoft's end of things.

I Can't seem to download some of the map packs

Delete all the maps from your console, clear the cache, and download all the maps. Do not use the multiplayer disc to install some of the maps. For some reason the game will not update all the way if you install maps from the disc.

c00kiez plz? :)

I'll sureley miss the game :(

The Map Packs aren't Compatible with PAL? Strange, I downloaded them ok and I'm using VGA cables on my English TV. Whatever, I'm playing Halo 2 before it goes off-line XD

So I don't have to worry about the updates? Alright.

But it looks like I will need use a disc to get the maps, they are all discs as well right? Could I borrow a disc from a friend or does drm prevent that kind of sharing?

what do you mean "do not use the multiplayer disc to install some of the maps"? Then how do I download the maps if I can't use the disc?

I think its one of those things where as long as you have the disc in you can play without any issues. I'm not sure how well installing it, then not using it would work.
