Load H2 and work through it's menu to go online. The last step in getting online is the menu that has all the latest map packs. If you are indeed missing a map it will be there. Too bad you bought the expansion pack, all the maps are free. If I were you, I would delete what you have and just go with the direct downloads. Then take the disc back and tell them it didn't work.

I have a 1 year.

I select "start", "Ocicat" as my profile, sign in as halfbakedaphid, and a message comes up saying, "You have an important message from xbox live. Would you like to go to account management in the xbox dashboard?"
i select "start account management" and it takes me to AC. I can't find anything about a message.

Ok, go into System Settings, then Family Settings, then Console Controls, then Game Ratings and set it to All Games. Still in the Console Controls click Access to Xbox Live and make sure it is set to Allowed.

Things to try.

8. Download the maps, and updates, turn off your 360, remove the hard drive, turn on the console, and reconnect the hard drive.

Hey Dr Weird!

Finally someone let me out of my cage!!!

The tip number 8 is a treasure dude!

Ok I avoided the cache! . Well I erase again all the Halo 2 map files , I inserted the CD with the Map packs, I redownloaded, no error appeared, well I turned off my console and "removed my HD" as the 8 point says... well i turned my 360 on without my HD, i reconected my HD and my 360 restarted itself!!!

I put my Halo 2 CD and redownload the maps and "again" no error appeared...

Yeah!!! the Forerunners listened to my voice jajaja...

I can play Halo 2!!!!

Thank you so much Dr Weirdo!!!

Heh, it wasn't my fault it worked, I didn't help at all. If people would go down Dr WE1RD's list, one at a time, and make sure each item is taken care of I think problems would be solved 90 to 95% of the time. I'm glad it worked for you!

When you boot the 360:

It says Gold?
It has your 1 year GT?
It says connected?

Then you press play H2
You update
It loads and you select your profile
Then your GT shows itself?
You pick GT but it gives you the message you don't want, correct?

Unfortunately, if all the above steps are correct, you will have to work it out with MS. I think you have an account communication problem regardless that you paid your money.

It could be a server problem that has not picked up your GT from the game or it's confused between the new GT and your old GT.

One last thing to try is to delete your Gamer Profiles (except the GT you want to use) in System Settings/Memory/HDD/Gamer Profiles. Only do this if you don't care about losing saves on the old GP's. It's possible the server is confused. As a last resort (if you do not want to deal with MS on the phone) is to delete all GP's and reaquire the GT you want to see if it will work.

Probably you should call MS before your try any last resort options on this one.

Thanks! This helped a lot, my DLC maps just stopped loading. I'll go see if they work now.

Make sure you have all the map packs downloaded. I think there are 3 or 4 of them. Also, check the marketplace to make sure that you didn't miss something there. I think all but one of the map packs is accessed from the disc itself. I'm not too sure about desolation or tombstone, they may be on the disc or on the marketplace.

Project Shadow has returned!

Hi! I'm using Halo 2 (PC Vista) and I can't seem to connect. I've tried all possible routes. Plus, does anyone know the number to microsoft games? Me and a few friends have lost our product keys and we need to get new ones. We don't want to go on the internet and get one because that would be illegal and defeat our purpose of actually buying the game...

Can you help me with this? We really want to join the Halo 2 world and play against some of the best like you guys!

Sorry, the best help I can offer you is to check out this forum. They deal strictly with the PC versions of the Halo games, this forum is for the xbox versions of the game. Sorry, wish I could be more help.

what exactly does clearing the cache do??? will it delete stuff off my hard drive like from other games??

  • 04.04.2009 8:06 PM PDT

No, it will not delete other stuff or other games. If you play online with other games you will have to update them the next time you play but that's a small sacrifice to get the maps and start playing H2. GoW, for instance will not lose achievements etc., it will just ask you to update.

Get all four map packs and get them all in one sitting and watch to see if they go in right. If they stop at any point, start over from square one (see my PM).

I just realized how awesome wrecking the enemy team with a Focus Rifle from atop the Spire is. It's magical. It's like Concussion Rifle vs Sword/Shotgun.

Well i could only download one pack but it wouldnt let me download the others it said cant complete the process so please help

Sounds like it could be a problem on Microsoft's end, try giving them a call to make sure things are working on their side of things. Also make sure that Halo 2 will play on your console offline alright and that your disc is in good condition.

SuperCrack - Are you downloading from a disk or downloading online?
There are 4 maps only and sometimes the maps do not download properly and you have to clear the cache and delete the downloads that did go in. Look at the topic post in this thread for methods of approach to solving your map problem. Be sure to find the 4 maps by booting H2 and going through the H2 menu.

Edit: It just occurred to me that you have default because you didn't download any maps. So, in case you didn't know, you do not have to delete any map packs if you did not download in the first place. If this is the case just load H2 and work you way through the menu to sign-on to live. You will eventually get to a menu that has 'Content Download' as an option. This is where all the maps are kept and they are free.

Misspelling in the title, you've got "your" instead of you're. No big, just thought you'd like to know...

now i cleared my cache and i have done 8 updates for halo 2 and it just keeps sending me more and more updates

  • 04.13.2009 3:13 PM PDT

If your update does not go in properly then you need to clear the cache again (the cache and update are one and the same). If you tried to download maps earlier, make sure you delete all maps and clear the cache at the same time, turn your 360 off and on and then try the update again.

what happens to me is when i try to go online its says update requird.wierd but i acept it takes me to the oringinal xbox dashboard. it updates then the screen turns black and nothing happens

  • 04.17.2009 1:53 PM PDT

What have you tried in this thread (the 8 steps)? Sounds like either cache clearing is needed or maybe your disk is messed up. Can you get updates and play online with other games?

Disclaimer: This might have been mentioned already but I didnt read through all the replies.

Problem: Your GT isnt showing up when you are trying to sign in to Halo 2 despite that it's the GT you were signed in to in the 360 dashboard before launching Halo 2.

Solution: Halo 2 is only listing 5-6 GT's in-game when you are trying to sign in so if the GT you want to sign in to isnt one of the top GT's listed it wont show up. What I did was to delete inactive GT's that I wasnt using anymore in the dashboard.

This is a problem I've never encountered before I started to bring my 360 over to my cousin where several people have been recovering their profiles and played on it.

Edit: I noticed now that you've already touched upon the subject. Well I guess it cant hurt to mention it once more.
