Alright, a couple of questions I need addressed, as I'm getting the hang of the console control and setting up the dedicated server for a game.

1. I open the DS app outside of Halo and start the mapcycle. How do I then join my own server? I've gone into Halo, but it appears in neither the Internet Lobby nor the LAN Lobby.
2. Though the DS is said to be made for Halo CE, it is also compatible with the original Halo PC, no? This might have something to do with a within game console command to start up the DS or some crap like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

change the ports your DS operates on. Move it to 2304 and 2305

Okay, thanks a lot Obaten. It works for Halo CE, but I don't see any way to run it on the Halo PC Internet Lobby. I'd really like it to show up there so more people can join than the few on the Halo CE Internet Lobby. Any ideas?

In case I didn't clarify, I am joining my DS from the same computer and using rcon commands to admin on it. I changed the target for the DS shortcut to have -port 2304 at the end. When you said 2304 AND 2305, you meant what?

There are the 2 ports that halo uses, 2302 and 2303 I believe. One is for joining games and one is for other people joining your servers. You can change them in the options. I think the problem is you are trying to join a server through the same port as it is recieveing the info with. I don't know how DS's work so I can't really help you and am probably wrong.

Okay, apparently Haloded and HaloCEded aren't interchangeable. I just picked up the original Halo PC DS online, and it's pretty much the same except for which version of Halo it is compatible with. But on the note of ports, DS opens a little command window, so there is no options screen that gives you two ports to change. I put the -port line in the shortcut's target line, and I can join mine. But now does this mean that unless I list two ports, no one else can join?
I'm almost completely satisfied with this thread's results. I need only be answered as to whether others can join my server, and then I shall be on my way. If you wish to test it for me, the server name is "Test Your Mettle", and the game type is Slayer.

That's another thing, has anyone ever found a server without quick lag? (occasional unpatterned lag) Just about everyone on the net has it, unless they host the server. Is there a way to fix it?

I think it was my crappy interenet connection. I have heard of a "delagginator" from Mard but I can't find anything else out about it. Its for Halo CE and apparently its for DSs

I have that, but it doesn't fix quick lag (just slow constant lag due to ping) it only works for DS, and it doesn't do anything for the original Halo...

I don't think you can fix it. Do you know what causes it?

I'm pretty sure that anyone who isn't hosting on any server will get lag. People come into my games and complain about lag as though it's something new, as though they've been to servers with no lag. Well that's BS, and I don't want to hear anyone complaining any more. Every server on the internet has some lag. Period.

I was comparing it to other servers mainly [RS] but it wasn't as bad as some servers I couldn't name.

I believe I have discovered the cause. I think my wireless connection is a problem, as it sometimes loses the network connection and packets. If I can consult with my ISP, I may be able to take care of that lag. For now, I'll try to get a cable to work rather than using my wireless adapter.

Eugh, Wireless connections... They fluctuate wildly, and I DO NOT recommend them for gaming (I play on one for my dorm...). I've taken it up with the college, and they just kinda ignore me... I feel so unloved...

Already tried the delag. It's bull in my honest opinion, but knock yourself out. And yout3 knows firsthand how my wireless lag screwed up his gaming. Sorry about that yout3, but my computer refuses to recognize that the LAN cable is plugged in. It's installed and the hub on the other end says it's active, but my computer says some network cable is unplugged; anyways, it's a load of crap.
Inspire, we'll have to game some time. I've gathered nothing but good things about you from your posts. We will see who is the better sniper, but beware my lag. Don't know though, even with lag there are some people who do quite well against me on my servers. My server name is Test Your Mettle and my profile is RedMageJoe (and on rare occasions, [AS] Sniper).

I created a dedicated server its called ~~~~DCK~~~~ but I am not sure people can connect. I am using a computers with a hardwired modem. What should i change my ports to? I can't host regular servers either, no one can connect to them. What's the problem?

You don't have ports 2300 - 2304 open. You should only need 2303 and 2302 open but just to make sure. Btw mage, what kind of internet connection do you have (speeds)

My connection is a 11-100 Mbps broadband cable running at 11 Mbps. However, the ethernet cable runs directly into another computer and my computer connects to it via a wireless network adapter. I once used a LAN cable a year or so ago to connect to the ethernet computer, but then I got this wireless network; my computer has since refused to recognize that the LAN cable is plugged in, and that is pissing me off.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

Just a hunch, since I'm a Mac user and don't know much about Pcs. I've got a wireless card in my G5 that I use only to stream iTunes to my livingroom stereo, (I'm hard wired to the DSL modem). It was very easy to install. Removing it would be a snap. Try pulling your wireless card. Maybe with no wireless capability your machine will revert to the wired connection? Then put the wireless card back if you need it.
