I am gettin a new PC, I need to know if Halo PC will still lag and how much......I have a DSL Connection....A Pentium 4 Processor....and a 128 Mb Video Card....If I get it, will it still lag alot??

Cuz my friend has it on his Labtop, he has a 64Mb Video Card...a Celeron Processor, and Road Runner....and it lags ALOT.....by the way...he has an Xbox Controller USB adapter to use the controller on the PC.

I am the best that I know on Xbox, I tear everyone up, but when I play PC, i can barely get kills cuz when I try to go in hand to hand combat.....I cant Melee, and I cant use my EXTRMELY fast trigger finger cuz with his Labtop, it doesnt work well.

So please let me know if it will still lag, or not too much. THANKS in advance!!

It will yes, I'm on a P4 2.8c with 256 MB videocard (Saphhire Radeon 9600) and on a T3 (43 Mbits) internet connection. Even with all settings to lowest it lags when the server's pings below 150.

Here are some pieces from my dxdiag log:

its not ur computer guys.......i play it on my obsolete laptop, about 1 year old, and i dont lag much. I have a very fast dsl line and BOTH me and my stepbrother play at the same time online in fairly populated maps. Use halo CE too, that cuts lag down alot(better codes to run off of), but halo PC doesnt lag much. Just find a server and it will not usually lag. Or if there is lag, just host the game urself and there will be none, and ppl will come if u entice them. So chill, Halo PC is worth it. The Halo CE version is absolutly worth it. Try maps like Halo Ball, or Streets of Earth City and ull b glad.

BTW, There is a way to play halo from ur Xbox without Halo PC. I think all u need is a hub(or router), and Gamespy Arcade.....then u can use ur contrller and u can play for free. I Havnt tried it but u could research it

My laptop
-------------------------------------------------
2.0 GHz Celeron
256 ram
32 meg Graphics card
-------------------------------------------------
Those r regular specs and i play it with bad resolutions. I Could play Halo with full graphics on my Desktop but my graphics card is not great. So you will explerience very little lag on servers and not much when u play when other ppl host. But with ur T3 connection(is that like fiberoptics......must cost a lot), u should host, ud have NO lag

Well, Halo seems to be too heavy on my machine in single player as well... I don't know what I do wrong but I can't play it on 1280*1024, even though my monitor can take that. I know the 9600 isn't the best graphics card but does it really matter that much? I see people play on lot older and less cards and they don't complain..

Internet games are just annoying to me because of "lag", I then play with my settings to lowest. I'll try with CE then, though I don't know how it works, cause I didnt see internet games when i started it..

BTW, any way to extract the Halo models and textures back to 3dsmax?

Doesn't lag for me at all, you just need a strong PC if your PC is junk and your video card is junk which is the case then it will run like the crap that your PC is. I have nothing but solid gameplay and excellent graphics and it runs very smooth on a good server.

You running Halo on crap has nothing to do with me, the graphics card is sub-par so what do you expect? Get a real card and you wont have these problems. People like you who blame the GAME for running like crap is common for people with lower end stuff, sooner your later you going to have to face the fact that the card has to go. There is not and never will be a patch that magically makes your game run better when it's already running the way it should be, its your problem not the games or those who made it.

The lag is not a question of your pc or you connection, it’s a matter of the OTHER guys pc and connection. Let me explain, when you are playing multiplayer the lag you see is the difference between your connection and the other guys. If say for instance you have DSL and a great connection but the guy you are shooting at has a modem you will have something like this happen.

DSL guy has a rocket launcher and sneaks up on MODEM guy. He decides not to waste a rocket and clubs MODEM guy from behind, but this has no effect! He panics and shots a rocket while standing way to close, killing himself but MODEM guy simply walks away. Ten seconds later modem guy drops like a brick for no apparent reason. Now this isn’t because MODEM guy is UbER or a cheater, its because the time it takes his slow ass MODEM to tell him he’s dead creates the lag that DSL had no fault in.

So the next time you are playing and all of a sudden the game lags like crazy its cause some jerk with a MODEM just joined. Hunt him kill him do bad things to him, he is the sole cause of your lag.

Have a nice day!

Reason that it would lag most likely is someone is using dial-up internet.

Will Halo still lag if you upgrade your computer?

Let's put it this way: Halo lags even on LAN, which is inexplicable (IMO). Yeah, having a crappy comp makes it that much worse, but if you're wanting it to have the same feel as the Xbox version, it's never going to get there even on the ultimate hardware and net connection.

Lag is a way of life on HaloPC (or even CE). It takes a LOT of getting used to, especially if you're used to the Xbox version. Basically you have to learn how to melee the air and get a kill, how to lead 3 inches with the sniper rifle, how to shoot rockets at the air to kill warthogs, etc. You get the idea. It's a truly frustrating experience.

My advice: save your money that you'd spend on a new PC and get a nice HDTV and 5.1 surround sound setup for Halo 2 on the Xbox. Halo PC lags like a mofo and it's never going to get better.

I get the same performance from my PC that I do from my X-BOX, although it costs alot more to get your PC to run a game smoothly because halo needs alot of power to run that way. You are going to need a comp like mine to run the next generation games in top quality and when Halo 2 comes to PC which it will.

Your daddy got you a new pc I bet..

There's nothing wrong with my card, the box says a 32 MB card's sufficient, that could be a Gerforce 2. But I'll just shut up before you come and get me with your posse of 13 year olds.
