My chemistry teacher gave us the project of creating artwork for the holidays. We were given the freedom to create whatever we wanted, and I decided to go with what I knew best.

Here's how it's made: Get a piece thin sheet of iron that has been plated with zinc. Place duct tape on both sides of the metal. Then cut out a design into the tape, exposing some zinc, but keeping the rest safely under the tape. Dip the entire thing in HCL (hydrochloric acid) for a couple of minutes, until the bubbling slows. Then apply CuSO4 (copper sulfate) and blot it, so not to much accumulates. The design you had cut out will be a rustic copper color, or a shiny one, depending on how evenly you applied the CuSO4.The result:
